Kiku hesitated against someone who she knew was fake. That is wild. I hate saying it because I am a big fan of Kuku's design but yeah she's fumbled this whole Kanjuro situation.

Wel Kiku was the youngest to join Oden, so she was probably even more attached to him than the rest. It only takes a second of hesitation for your enemy to strike in these situations, and the idea to kill a loved one can probably do that. There is a similar situation in Fullmetal Alchemist, where a character knows the other person is an impostor, but it still makes them hesitate for a second. (it's better done in there though, as it is more sudden). In this case, it's Kanjuro's words that trigger Kiku's memories. Also it's kind of a trope in dramatic theater to do this kind of stuff.

I honestly don't think her age has anything to do with it at this point. The first time ok, but EVEN after Ashura died, she still wanted to redeem herself after knowing darn well that she didn't have it in her. I just can't with her.

I haven’t actually thought about her character much but yea. She knows that isn’t actually Oden and it is absolutely an imposter. For this I think “what would Zoro do” and the answer is he wouldn’t hesitate if he knew for a fact a fake Luffy was attacking. She’s a direct subordinate of Oden her being so weak mentally is just weird.

Yea but I’m holding her to the standards of a samurai/warrior. Zoro is just an example. Her personality is whatever but when it’s time to draw your sword you can’t be hesitating that’s weak
