Ugh Usopp is my favourite character but during these episodes I hated him so much lol. I was so happy he came back in the end!

Notice the parallels between this arc and Alabasta. Gladius has the improved version of Mr 5's fruit, Machavise has the improved version of Ms Valentine, Baby 5 has the improved version of Mr 1's fruit. Giola was an artist like Mr 3. Sugar is just like Ms. Goldenweek where she's a child with a super powerful power. Dellinger fights with kicks just like Mr 2 (I might've stretched it with that one but he's definitely flamboyant like Bon Clay).

I was really sad because of all the Usopp hate when this episode/chapter came out. Luffy and Zoro are headstrong fighters and they will charge ahead regardless of whoever their opponent is. Sanji fights when the situation calls for it because he's fully capable of doing so. But Usopp, besides being a coward, is also a realistic thinker. He did not hesitate to fight Baby5 and Buffalo when they were running away. He wasn't scared of Perona all the Fishman either. Hell, he fought Luffy fair and square. In all of Usopp's fights, he always assesses the situation carefully and only engages if he thinks he has a chance of winning. In a serious fight, his attacks are always complex and unexpected because he puts a lot of thought into it before the actual execution. Consequently, he'd run away from situations where he thinks there's nothing he can do and this is one of those situations. Trebol is strong and Sugar is overpowered. Usopp knows he's not as capable as his other stronger crewmates and he needs the extra push to get there but he's there.

When Robin got turned into toy Usopp's personality changed because he lost Sogeking in him. It's like Robin never existed so whole Enies Lobby was different. There was no Sogeking, no "I want to live" moment. That's why Usopp left Tontattas.

They expect character development when Oda is more focused on progression. Usopp will still be a scaredy cat in this arc, but his attacks are definitely stronger than pre-timeskip (e.g Fishman Arc, film Z[non-canon]).

People forget Usopp is one of the most clutch characters in the straw hats he's always saving the day in someway. When he rescued Robin from crossing the bridge in Ennies Lobby, to when he defeated Perona on Thriller Bark when nobody else could. He's always clutch 👏🏾 👏🏾 💯

Btw it seems you might be a little confused so, the toys still have their own conscience and personality. They have to however follow the rules of their contract no matter what they do, hence no hurting humans or working in the toy house etc etc.

That's why it is a big deal Kyros didn't get a contract, he basically has free will and is trapped in a body. Other toys also have to follow the rules. (usually orders of the Don Quixote family as well)

Yeah so they’re able to speak and stuff as long as it isn’t going against any of the rules of the contract or orders of the family. That’s why that other toy was able to talk to Kyros earlier in the arc. Most toys probably choose not to say anything or speak up about who they are and what not simply because they’ll be disposed of and stuff.

Yea exactly, it was shown that if they try to they are accused of having like, "People Syndrome" or something I forget. But in reality its just them trying to convince the people who forget them that they are real instead of just toys. So most of them just deal with their situation doing the best they can (loving who they can, befriending, watching over, etc) while not breaking rules.
