By the way hon, when Bartolomeo said "gross" he was most probably referring to those people being ugly on the inside. As you saw, when he threw that ball and everyone thought it was a bomb, they only cared about saving themselves, disregarding all other lives. The fact that he did that proved it. At least this is how I see it :D

I case that you miss it Luffy was about to put his real names on the paper and blow his cover. That why Franky hit him in that head. So Luf. became Lucy.

Cavendish isn't just look. He's a really big shot. He's been in the New World for 3 years without a Devil Fruit. Luffy couldn't even get into the New World 2 years ago and even if he did, he probably wouldn't last long because he didn't have the power up and so was the rest of the crew.

You were asking how Ace got the fruit, it was never said in the manga or anime however there were light novels based on Ace's journey. Ace happened to find the fruit in a desert island on the East Blue where he met his first member of his pirate crew Masked Deuce. They both were starving so they split the fruit in two and ate it not realizing it was a devil fruit. The first person to swallow the fruit gets the power so Ace got the devil fruit power. Weird how an extremely powerful devil fruit like that was found in the weakest sea.

This story pretty much made the theory null and void that you actually have to eat the whole devil fruit to get the power. Also showing us that if two people eat a fruit two people won't get the power.
