The plants don't care if

you are too depressed to water them.


They scream with yellow leaves that crumble dryly;

Begging you to think of them.


The Buddhists call this invisible work:

You only notice it when it hasn't been done.


Green plants take you outside yourself

while you care for them.


A repotting here, a pruning there,

and a nice cool drink of water.


For them-

It's a matter of life and death.
