Star Love 2: Space Pirates (working title) WIP01 (Patreon)

Hello Steel and Diamond Hard Patrons! Here the WIP for this month.

Star Love will get another episode! But animation will not start until more development is done. I was hoping to get a lot of work done on concepts, but this month had been very busy trying to complete Me Time. It was a domino effect from Sloppy Seconds taking more time to complete than anticipated. However, in these last few days I have been able to get started on concepts, and I even have a little outline of how the story will go.

The Exeter crew come across some space pirates who want the ship's booty. But it seems this time the pirate captain would like a different kind of booty instead.

I wanted to redesign Ryuta to be a bit more appealing, particularly his hairstyle and eyes. It's subtly different, not deviating too far from the original design. For Hikari, his design will not change, however I wanted to give him a retractable visor device for navigation. As for Kazu, I tweaked his eyes a bit, and toyed around with redesigning his respirator, but decided to leave it as is. 

As for the pirate, there was a bit more exploration with his design. I wanted him to be slightly older and taller than how I usually design my characters, so he is slightly more angular. Even though he may be a bad guy, I still wanted to make him look appealing, so kept some roundness combined with angularity. I also refined his headgear, and thinking of giving him undergarments. Still yet to be designed are the pirate's henchmen, and spaceships. 

There is still much more work to be done, and animation will not start for another few months. There will be no new animation next month, however there is still something very special to come for the five year anniversary of Maruten on Patreon!
