Hello Diamond Hard Patrons! I have something that I would like your opinion on. As you know as Diamond Hard Patrons, you have a very special privilege of suggesting scenarios for an artwork. This has helped me understand what my audience enjoys. It also challenges me to draw things that I myself haven't thought of drawing. It also is a great way to interact with you.

As I have become much busier lately, while I do enjoy drawing these artworks, sometimes I miss having the time to draw the other things that I myself actually enjoy. I believe it is on me to manage my time to be able to do that. But as the suggestion box is the priority, my own personal projects have to be shelved. I would like to draw more of my characters such as Karl and Jordan doing other things.

Also, with monthly artworks, and having run for many years, there are so many artworks that people wish for to be animated, but haven't got their chance. I would also like to animate some of them, though it couldn't be possible with the limited time I have. Some of the suggestions have also become a bit repetitive in their themes, or in the characters, which makes it hard for me sometimes to do my best.

So I feel like, I am weighing whether I should put more focus into drawing for the artwork suggestion box, or put more emphasis on my ideas (such as that sneakerfreak Markus).

I would like to run the suggestion box for one more round of six. After, I would like to stop with the Artwork Suggestion Box as a feature of the Diamond Hard Tier. That would mean the only perk would be access to the entirety of posts on my Patreon stretching back almost six years.

I may still run polls every six months for which artworks should become an animation. I think this would still also be a privilege for Diamond Hard Patrons.

But I would like to know how you feel about this. If the suggestion box is stopped, do you feel it should be replaced with another perk? Do you prefer the suggestion box to stay? Should the suggestion box be done differently?

Maybe you could do some runner-up polls occasionally for past winners to give some of them a another chance? Though I honestly joined Diamond tier to give my ideas during the polls, not that I don't enjoy your ideas, but I understand what it's like for some artists when they feel like something needs to change.

Hi Maruten! I have always enjoyed your ideas and artwork, but the suggestion box is one of the reasons I kept being a subscriber. The suspense if you win or not, and eventually seeing my own idea come to life through your creativity has been very exciting over the years - it would be a pity if this would come to a complete end. I do think it is a great idea to have a second chance to have animations that have been artwork winners before - maybe this planning security also gives you more time for your own projects. I do agree as well that recently themes and characters have been repeating, and it was hard for other ideas to cut through (which is however a sign of how much people love your characters and your artwork). Maybe a solution could be to go for a bi-monthly suggestion box in the future - or you could set a theme to boost new ideas or limit repetition. Could be "precum", "threesome", "summer loving" or "sports team". Thank you anyhow for being so open, still I hope the suggestion box will not completely die 😘

Patron polls always tend to vote for the same characters and themes repeatedly. I’d love to see other Maruten characters get their chance, Personally I want more of Massimo and Inicka

This! I'd rather vote for Option C, which would be attenuating the suggestion box by making it bi-monthly, if indeed you think it'd help balance the workload in a favorable direction.

Know this from other artists here on patreon and from pixiv fanbox. They have polls about artworks or even short comics, but its mostly the artists ideas you vote. Or they set a theme like "summer" or "Game X" and you can only suggest or vote accordingly.

Personally, I haven't made use of the suggestion box much as a perk. It's fun seeing the ideas people have, but it wouldn't be a huge loss for me to drop the suggestion box. I kind of wish there was a third "I don't care / either way works" option. I just like seeing whatever you create 🙂 I've seen many suggestion box / poll variations from the different artists I follow. Some only have polls with ideas they've come up with themselves. Others have a suggestion box but pick the idea they want to do without a vote from patrons. Some artists only ask for suggestions when they feel like it, so there's no fixed schedule. Another one I've seen is where the artist randomly picks a patron and does a small commission for them. All this to say that there's lots of ways you can engage with us, so I'm sure there's a way to adapt the perks/rewards so that you have more flexibility to work on the stuff you want while still getting input from us. As for me, I'm happy as long as I can continue to see your work 😊

ok so maybe it’s just me but I don’t know how to answer your question. I dont know what I’m saying yes or no to. But in my opinion; I dont use the suggestion box much, I think many of your ideas are awesome already. i think we already vote on some of the artwork, that’s enough for me. i also wouldn’t know how to suggest something in such clear and concise words; and with the character names you have; in such a way that I think you’d understand it. I think maybe that’s some other people fear too…. Anyway, I love your work and any changes you make to help yourself stay in a good place; I support it.

I havent used the suggestion box recently either. It seems that most people want returning characters anyway. Instead of getting rid of the suggestion box box maybe change it. Suggest your ideas of what you want to draw as a poll and we vote on that every month. And maybe once every 2 or 3 months we suggest something entirely new and add the rule that it has to be new characters. I would very much prefer this.

Yes, I noticed there are many Diamond Hard Patrons, but the participants and votes in the suggestion box are a smaller number. I had thought not many have used the suggestion box.

Yes, that was a pattern I saw, usually Trent and Dylan. I already have a storyline with them in mind and want to do it my way. So don't worry, Trent and Dylan will return. I hope to bring back Massimo as well one day!

Thanks! I can be hard to get the balance of fairness for everyone. If I do keep the suggestion box somehow, I wonder what form it can take. Maybe much less frequently, and I get to choose the winner regardless of votes maybe?

I do want to give a chance for some artworks that say cane in a close second, and that are fun ideas to animate. This could be a feature in the future.

What if, for those who aren’t that interested in reusing overused characters, you could make a “Describe your OC” poll, where patrons could take the opportunity to create a character(s) all of their own and give you an idea of what they’re supposed to look like, be like and where they’re from, and which ever description has the most likes, you could draw the winning character(s)? I’d say “Post your OC”, but I don’t know how to add pics in the comments. I have a lot of character ideas, and would love to share some of them if you’re okay with that.
