Hiatus Poll Winner: The Ahn'Ger Stone (Patreon)

The Ahn'Ger stone has won the poll, so it will be the Hiatus Project. Let's take a moment to talk about it and how it will work. This will sort of function as a FAQ, but if you have questions you can always leave me a comment and I'll do my best to answer it.

1. When will The Ahn'Ger Stone be updating?

Every Wednesday. I'm making this a weekly upload project, so you will be getting three uploads a week.

2. What is The Ahn'Ger Stone?

The Ahn'Ger Stone is a heavy narrative story. It will feature a cast of characters that find a magical stone that can alter minds, bodies and even reality itself, but only when the one holding the Stone is angry. It features detailed transformations of various types, but it also focuses on the reaction of the characters to said transformations. It lingers and explores the effects of the changed world or individual, it isn't just a rapid fire barrage of TG/TF content.

Full disclosure, The Ahn'Ger Stone first premiered on Writing.Com in 2018 as a Interactive Story, and my attempt at a spiritual reboot of the older story 'The Grellstone'.  It grew beyond the confines of the original story and took on a life of it's own, the content may have treaded similar to the Grellstone, but it was never just copy/pasted. I almost got to a 1000 chapters before I ended up becoming a Captioneer and eventually launching the Patreon.

I actually tried running The Ahn'Ger Story as a comic when I first joined Patreon, but it didn't work out. Now that I have Midjourney, I'll be giving it another go. I am also interested in getting The Ahn'Ger Stone off of Writing.Com as their site has become heavily paywalled, making it next to impossible to read the story there.

3. What is an Interactive Story?

An Interactive Story is essentially a Choose Your Own Adventure story where, at certain points in the narrative, the reader can choose from a selection of choices on how they want the story to go.

4. How will The Ahn'Ger Stone be presented? Is it a series of captions?

No, The Ahn'Ger Stone is text based. Most chapters will have a single image associated with the chapter's content, generated in Midjourney. I will do my best to make sure that each image maintains a consistent style and relevance to the chapter posted.

Most of the chapters will be around 10k characters long, which is about 3 pages in Microsoft Word. Or, for example, the length of one of my typical image captions here. This was a hard limit imposed by the limitations of Writing.Com. Given that there is less of a hard limit on Patreon, you can expect chapters to run longer than that, mainly focusing on heavier details.

When we reach certain points in the narrative you, the readers, will get to vote on how you want the story to go. 

5. How will voting work?

On the same day as the new chapter, I will also release a poll with 1 to 4 options. The number of options will be variable, but there will always be at least two to choose from. You, the audience, will vote on which way you want the story to go, and the option that gets the most votes will be written and posted the next week.

That means on Wednesdays, you'll get a chapter update and a poll.

Polls will run from the Wednesday they are posted to the following Monday. That gives you all time to vote and time for me to write.

6. How long will The Ahn'Ger Stone last?

As this is designed to take the place of GENIE'D! during it's Chapter 3 Hiatus, The Ahn'Ger Stone will run every Wednesday until Chapter 3 of the comic is ready for release. We will then pause the story at a suitable stopping point.

I'm not planning on just abandoning the narrative so there may be some content overlap until we reach a good stopping point.

7. Will The Ahn'Ger Stone return if there is another comic Hiatus?

In the event of another Hiatus with GENIE'D!, I will post a poll seeing if there is interest in returning to The Ahn'Ger Stone story or if everyone would like to try a different project.

8. When should we expect to see the first upload of The Ahn'Ger Stone content?

Tonight. However, this upload will very basic, with an overview of the story plus it's cast of characters. The first narrative chapter will be uploaded next Wednesday. There will be no voting with tonight's update, as it is simply for introduction purposes.
