The position of the chin can make a big difference in a portrait, it is as if the chin raised gives the impression of a challenge to the observer, as if the subject is looking down on you; while the chin lowered looks more aggressive, as if the subject is a cornered beast.
All models tend to prefer the chin up, maybe they think it looks better or it is just a habit they acquire in other aspects of life.
To me, the lowered chin is still more meaningful and I usually have to ask for it. Tomorrow I will show you an example of the other...
