cannot wait! love this theme! Well done. Now I want more of that columnar scatter! :D

tj

Can't wait to start printing. The Demogorgon is the only thing I'm not really fond of. So definitely a good month.

I love your sets! Thank you for continuing to do tiles. These are a big deal for me. Could you maybe do modular ruins for some month in the future?

castnplay

For sure! Next month for cosmic horror we'll have a lot of corrupted terrain :D

David Dickson

You guys are fast becoming my favorite.

tj

You're welcome. It's not that I don't like the model, I will still use it, just not for what it was created to be. I'll paint it green and turn it into a plant type creature.

castnplay

That's the beauty of 3D Printing :) Glad you'll still find a use for the model

I second David!

this reminds me of wave echo cave from Mines of Phandelver

You're easily my favorite patreon for minis, but I must admit, I miss the variety of poses from past months. The modular pieces are okay, but they just don't compare to the variety from the different poses (like what's in this month's throwback set, for example, where there are multiple poses each with different hands, but where the poses are made to suit that weapon/item).

Anonymous

Don't get me wrong, I still do like the set, but it's just that the multiple poses was one of the key things that drew me to your patreon in the first place. It's not something I've seen a lot of other places and I really appreciated it.

Jefferson Thacker

I have to agree. Its my one disappointment here. If there were a couple poses extra this would have been perfect.

The tiles definitely great, I love open lock terrain! However when you presupport the terrain tiles I noticed that the support pillars which are used for fdm printing were included, those will be a problem for resin terrain. I print terrain in fdm so it doesn't affect me but you might want to remove those for anyone who is printing in resin. It might work well if you included a version of the terrain sliced of at the floor level so someone could print the detailed parts in resin and glue them to an fdm base, I'm not sure how well this will work with warping but if you have the time to experiment it may make resin terrain more affordable. Either way thanks for the great work!

i agree with you. i don't like modular pieces. it was better different poses! btw always love to CnP!!

David Dickson

I think I might disagree on this point a bit. While I do prefer unique poses to modular ones, I saw Cast N Play mention a little while back that they (at the request of Patreons) moved to more unique MODELS themselves instead of fewer models with more poses. That'd remain my preference. More models, even if I don't have multiple poses.

Anonymous

That's fair. I can certainly respect that choice. Personally, if it's between a higher number of unique models and fewer models but with more poses, I'd rather fully commit to one or the other (either even more unique models and don't worry about adding the swappable parts or fewer models with more tailored poses). To me the poses with swappable parts often look amazing with one set of hands/parts but don't work as well with the others (e.g. #258) or the poses have to be a bit compromised to make it viable for all the swappable parts (e.g. #253), though some really do work with all the parts (e.g. #252, #254). In the end I'm glad they're trying different things and being responsive. I'm definitely looking forward to printing some of these in a few days.

Thank you all for the feedback! There's an audience for both versions, that's why we're trying to balance it out instead of ignoring 50% of you, guys. We'll keep tweaking and trying to find that sweet spot. This type of feedback is always super helpful and appreciated much. Best, Alex

Nathan

@Cast n Play So have you guys officially decided to double down on the cartoon-type theme? Your models have always been a little cartoony, but that was your style. In the last few months, though, the models seem to be shifting further and further toward the stylised, and away from the 'realistic' models in the Nolzur's range, for example. That's perfectly valid stylistically, don't get me wrong, but it means the number of models I can use each month, in concert with my many commercial minis & printable minis from other designers, is shrinking fast. If that's the case, I don't think I'll be able to afford to remain a supporter for much longer. I'm pretty sad about that as I have every non-exclusive model you've released (and a few exclusives!), and I'd love to keep supporting you.

castnplay

Hey Nathan, that's a valid argument. We haven't made a hard decision or change style-wise. If there has been a change, it wasn't intentional. Our focus is always to provide better models and assets to be used in-game. We've never tried to be realistic nor too cartoon, we try to stay somewhere in between. Of course, that's very subjective, but I'm trying to explain the thought process behind our minis. I'll pass this on to the rest of the team so that we can have a conversation about it. I don't want to lie or say we're going to do something and then don't. We're not aiming to do realistic models in the near future. but we'll be more mindful of style and consistency for sure. Thanks for the feedback :)

Love the throwback selection!

David Dickson

For what it's worth, I love your style and have dropped other Patreons that make their models too realistic. Heh. Art and taste are so subjective.

I have been having issues over the last couple of months downloading the full files from Drop Box. I have tried every day this month to get this one to download to no avail. Any suggestions?

castnplay

Sorry to hear that :(. Other than downloading folders separately I haven't found a good solution. I know it sucks. We're working on an alternative to this. You will be hearing more about it in the next month. It'll let you download and store all your past releases so that we don't have this problem anymore.

Andrew Hart

For these downloads you cant download them all at once, its too big break the download up into smaller ones you'll be fine

Masterwork Miniatures

Is there already a post on the July,August,September Loyalty reward somewhere? Edit: Nvm, saw it on the discord server, thank you

Darrell Tallman

I wasnt able to download this last month could I possibly get a link? thank you!

Jenny Underwood

Where is this mentioned on the discord? I have been trying to keep an eye out because September was my third month, but I haven't seen anything and can't find anything by searching.
