There's a lot of open neck. He'd probably have a tall gorget (leather neck style with external metal plates for and aft) for mobility (head can turn) when fighting on foot, or an over sized bevor, allowing the helm to rotate behind it, that would also work when mounted. The pole axe with a butt spike is great.

If this is a tournament fighter, then using a staff-like weapon like this is fine, but they would be unlikely to wear such heavy armour. I could be wrong, but I think this chap is on guard duty and needs a proper lance, or better even a halberd..

Tournament armor was in fact heavier than war Armour. Especially for the joist which often locked the rider into place unable to move. The reason behind this is that you didn't need to be near as mobile for your event and would only have it on for the 5-10 minutes needed for the match and not hours on end as with combat. Much of the surviving armor for this reason was tournament Armour which is why people associate armor with being much heaver than it was. Also unless he is expecting combat with another heavily armored fighter and has some close range support to keep the enemy back and give him striking room, the short spear is the way to go for a guard.
