Congrats on finishing the book series! This HC b-day extra is published on HC's b-day (10th June) and it's one both heart-warming and heart-breaking chapter! I have to say that the concept of the 'local god of land and soil' is introduced in book 1 doesn't necessarily mean that *this* local god of land and soil is the one the Xianle trio met in book 1. The god title of 'local god of land and soil' can be obtained by multiple gods who each have their own little jurisdiction area where they do the protection, blessing and other god-stuff. I'm sure in the og text when the ghosts offered XL all kinds of naughty gifts such as love potions and MPreg pills they used their 'tentacles' rather than 'testicles' (well, it's not really any less nsfw but still...)and I choked on my coffee so hard upon hearing you repeated the latter several times ROFL I laughed so hard when XL immediately went 'I'm gonna stop HC from asking more questions by sticking my tongue into his mouth as gag', our once innocent deity is no more...... When XL is in need for advice, the XianLe trio gathered together once again to discuss. The scene where XL and MQ both turned towards FX for gift advice and later XL and FX turned towards MQ for 'one who can teach sewing' is so funny. And it really reminds me of donghua s1e1 when they need someone to pose as a bride to lure the ghost bridegroom out and both 'Nan Feng' and 'Fu Yao' immediately turned their gaze onto XL LOL XL during banyue arc: casually sits on a grave stone before realizing it's his own grave. XL in the extra: casually digging up his own grave and doesn't even bother to clean it up. LQQ when Hualian express love in the middle of the grave yard: right in front of your coffin? It's interesting to see in these two extras that while XL is usually seen as the 'feminine' one and HC as the 'masculine' one of the couple, the former is good at construction rather than housework (stereotypical 'male charactistics') and the latter has tons of different appearances, clothing, accessories etc and really cares abt his looks (stereotypical 'female characteristics') HC is that kind of person who wake up 2hr in advance to do a full make-up before getting back to bed and pretend it's 'natural beauty' to his lover because he's just this insecure......but XL talked him out of this! Yey!

So many fics in which HC rescued XL out of the coffins were born from this lol. I can't imagine the pain, darkness, suffocation, and hunger inside that tiny space, so I'm glad that painful period was at least addressed here. XL did not get PTSD when laying in a coffin in the black water arc was truly impressive. But maybe because someone was there beside him? 🥺 Now you know why the scene in the donghua was like that. The donghua also added a silver butterfly flying past Fang Xin Goushi's grave. As MXTX said in her interview, HC almost met him at that time, but because of XL's bad luck, they couldn't :((( FX and MQ going to HC immediately in the amnesiac extra, and now HC going to FX and MQ for help!!! I love this so much! I imagine he hates doing that, but no matter how powerful he is, there are times when he cannot help XL alone. I like that XL's tendency to hide his pain and HC's insecurity about his appearance are addressed in the extras. Hualian getting together does not resolve every problem. But they have hundreds of years ahead to work through them together after all! XL scolding HC and pushing him in bed was giving my brain ideas hahaha. I honestly enjoy switch Hualian, since imagining a stubborn and bratty bottom HC, ready to please his gege is so interesting to me. Also when inside the coffin in the water, most people noticed that XL suggested HC be on top, but HC did say back "Isn't top and bottom the same?". I know MXTX likes fixed positions for their couple, so this is just headcanon of course. I love them either way!

Right?! XL is practically a vampire at this point because of how many coffins they’ve been in. I really can’t imagine what XL had to go through before they got out of that coffin! :( And now that Black Water scene makes even more sense why he was nervous….UGH. I hate how XL’s bad luck played a part in that…man…MXTX, that’s CRUEL! I absolutely LOVES how the three of them help each other when it comes to Xie Lian – the idea of HC coming to FX and MQ for help is something I’d never thought I’d witness, but it warms my heart so much! That is best friend of the boyfriend energy and I’m living for it! And OH MY GOSH - XL using sex to shut Hua Cheng up was BRAIN STOPPING. I LOVE the idea of Xie Lian taking the lead and being the top and I could se see Hua Cheng as the bottom – the fact that they could switch is perfect for them! I almost feel maybe, even if MXTX believes they’re “fixed,” that there could be a vers between them because of the whole omegaverse stuff, but it just opens up so many fan fic options, doesn’t it?! I love it! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! I am so sad but elated to have the story finished and I’m excited for the audio drama and then SVSSS! :D

Thank you so much for the warm congratulations!! This birthday extra was insanely good but that’s so cool it came out on his birthday! ALSO, OMG, that little detail about the lord of god and soil being REGIONAL….I will definitely talk about that in the 4th Audio Drama episode! And TENTACLES….dear baby Jesus, I can’t believe I buckled down on TESTICLES. XD I’m going to blame “MXTX GUTTER MIND” as my affliction. Wow….that’s hilarious and I’m baffled! I’m glad you didn’t choke enough to die! XD And the moment XL used sex to silence HC?! DONE. DEAD. DECEASED. Innocence Card DENIED! I absolutely live for HC going to FX and MQ for help — the three of them being the Crown Prince Defense Squad is amazing (you know SQX would be in there, too). I just love the tie-backs to Season 1 and volume 1 as well in this! The comparison of XL just desecrating his own grave, though…our boy…stahpppp. And LQQ awkwardly being forced to watch XL and HC nearly go at it in a grave yard? This poor boy. You know he’s going to go yell at Qi Rong’s spirit ghost after this. And I really do love how MXTX subverts gender stereotypes with XL and HC – definitely a great comparison to MDZS as well! I love that HC is so insecure about his “pure” form, but XL loves it and convinces him he doesn’t have to change it. That’s why we love HuaLian! 😀Thank you for the kind words and comment!
