I understand your view, but you can't compare snk which is an anime you finished to 86 in episode 10. Snk was the same in episode 10, the characters still had no depth and the story was much simpler : just surviving against the titans (at this moment), with a predictable plot twist where THIS titan fighting the other titans is Eren, it was much less rich than what 86 offers in 10 episodes honestly. 86 is a long series, there will be time to get to know each character in depth and the first 10 episodes are just the beginning. This anime portrays the pain of war so well, if for many people, this is their favorite anime or they simply love it very much, it's because we're emotionally invested in this series. Anyway, this episode is painful, Fido is the goodest doggo, he recorded everyone's daily life, their joys, their pains and their dreams. I look forward to the next reaction !

I have to respectfully disagree in how much depth we had with the characters in AOT by Episode 10 compared to this series, but that's my personal opinion. And people in the comments have been comparing the series to AOT, so maybe if I didn't read them, I wouldn't see those comparisons, but the damage has sort of been done to me, there. Plus, I don't know if this series WILL be long or not and that's kind of the mental thing with it as well....it's just been a hard series to watch so far for me. But I've been trying. See, I understand what you are saying about overhyping something. I felt that way about AOT and could not enjoy AOT with me rating not that high in the end. Maybe it is our perspective. You have a literature background while I have a history background (I have a degree in history and was a history teacher). The historical parallels in 86 speak to me. I don't say this to run down AOT or praise 86, but more to the out that it may a thing of personal tastes that you alluded too at the start. AOT may end up being more to your tastes while 86 was more to me and others. But, as I say about music, if all anime was the same, it would be a pretty boring so I think it is a good thing if we all don't love the same anime. Its great when all our tastes align but its also fun when they do not. I hope you change your mind more about 86 and look forward to continue hearing your thoughts as I have so far! Happy New Year! P.S. : My grandad always say its better to "stay the course" as things often times get better if you do. I hope that turns out to be the case here.
