Learning Mikhail's background, FINALLY about the Blue Moon Vampire, and seeing the depths of Vanitas's self-loathing....it was funny, it was poignant, and it was heartbreaking! And we still have two episodes to go...

Baby Vanitas is so heartbreaking. He puts on a front of being cruel but really he's so kind it hurts. The blue moon vampire becoming parental to misha and vanitas is so cute. I can't wait for the next 2 episodes. I'm also very excited for your manga review. I recently bought some physical copies fo some of the manga. The art is so beautiful.

This is getting good. As a Vanitas-Noe shipper, I've been left lacking (mostly) for the past few episodes and, while they had virtually no interactions here AGAIN, I like Noe getting some perspective on why Vanitas may be like he is. I'm probably grasping at straws here, but you take what you can get. Enjoyed the reaction and insights!

Great reaction and discussion!! This episode broke my heart so much... Poor Vanitas... With this episode context so much more of his past actions make more sense and are so much more tragic... First his mother, who died giving birth to him (and its interesting that when in subs Vanitas says "My mother died when I was born" to the blue moon vampire, more correct translation would be "My mother died in exchange/because she gave birth to me" so its even more evident that Vanitas blames it on himself) and then his father also died protecting him. He really got hit with that survivors guilt to the extreme. He makes me so sad :( I loved that Vanitas, even at his lowest, still tried protecting others. He still tried to protect Mikhail from Moreau, even at the cost of himself. AND THEN, we learn that he only didn't escape from the lab bc he didn't want other children to go through what he did there. Vanitas is just kind at his core and doesn't want to admit it because he sees himself as the cause of suffering of others around him... And we go back to the massive survivals guilt that Vanitas must be suffering from... And its interesting to note that Vanitas probably learned how to read and manipulate people and see what makes them tick because he had to do it with Moreau. He had to know when and what to say to Moreau to make him listen and he had to do it in such way that Moreau wouldn't realize it. Blue Moon Vampire is so adorable! I love them!! And I love their design!! I loove that the constantly bought up theme of stars and how it all connects back to BMV and their star-inspired design!!

AhhhThank you for the kind words and comment! Vanitas…I feel so much for him, especially now that we know his past with his family and the survivor’s guilt he carries. It’s so sad how he blames himself for the bad that’s happened to him. And the times he worked to protect Mikhail from Moreau!? UGH. My heart! Vanitas is so kind at heart and selfless but doesn’t want anyone to know so he puts up so many walls! It’s so tragic! Seeing the root of his defense mechanism is just…tragedy. Pure tragedy. At least this episode had all the cute moments of them with the Blue Moon vampire! That was so cute!! And I love it – it was MUCH needed with this episode! Thanks for the comment!
