**DOUBLE-ROMANTIC HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Oh my GOSH, Jean-Jacques had my HEART in this episode, as you can probably tell by the thumbnail! He was definitely tugging at ye ol' heartstrings!

But there's a lot going on this episode, from tragic backstory with Astolfo (and it is TRAGIC), to Jeanne and Vanitas teaming up to save Chloe, to Noe getting in on the fight, to everything becoming chaos as things get down to the wire to save the vampires and escape this bizarre time loop!

Great video and discussion as always!! When I first watched this, at this point JeannexVanitas was very much a ship for me. I like being multishipper and not having a problem with shipping either them or VanitasxNoe. And its nice that both of those ships have such a different tropes and elements in them. VanitasxJeanne seems to be enemies to lovers mixed with fast paced romance and "them getting put in vaguely romantic and suggestive situations". VanitasxNoe on the other hand seems like a slow burn mixed with many metaphoric and deep allegories and slow feelings realization. Completely different ways the relationships progress is such a fun thing to see! A little bit of everything for everybody XD I felt so bad for Astolpho. He really got shown that the kindness you offer others doesn't pay off. He offered his kindness to another being only for that kindness to get spitted back in his face in such cruel manner. Also, the fact that Astolpho is with the church, that only adds the fuel to his fire of hatred with their rhetoric is not a good thing for him. Its very clear that he has MAYOR ptsd and is not very mentally stable and I don't think him having a job that requires him to constantly confront the source of his trauma (vampires) is doing food stuff for his well being either. And ahh yes. The problem thats always there when people fight and hurt each other. The circle of violence... Its such a complicated matter because its not easy to forgive or even understand that revenge is a never ending vicious circle. Astolpho wants revenge because of what vampires did to him and vampires want revenge because what humans did to them. Nobody wants to be the bigger person and start to fix what is clearly broken. Its really hard to look over your own prejudices when you've been hurt as badly as both of those groups been. Also, in more accurate translation JJ said "Don't run away from me" to Cloe AND AAAAA I CAN'T THEY ARE SUCH A GOOD SHIP I LOVE IT!!! JJ was such a sad bean here 😭 I really like how JJ had no idea that Cloe planned her own death. Its so very hard to spot suicidal ideation in person. The slow realization that dawned on JJ, of all of the little moment that Cloe acted a little different, that were be so easily overlooked as something innocent. All of the little moments and decisions Cloe made fitting together to create a whole picture. Its very real in that sense that the signs of person being suicidal can be very easily missed, no matter how close you are to that person. Its also interesting that the divine tear stone has three different ways it was named: "divine tear stone", "blue tear stone" and by Jean-Jacques, "gods tear stone". Also fun fact! "tearstone" can also be translated as a "teardrop"! Also, the blue on Vanitas' arm isn't the tear stone. Its the mark from the vampire of The Blue Moon! Its like the one Jeanne left on his neck when she bitten him. It was explained in past episodes.

2023-08-25 10:54:26 Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! <3 All I can say is wait until the next episode about the whole shipping thing – but I can multiship, too! 😛I do like the way you phrase how the two ships are different! Astolfo’s past is SO tragic! He was so kind but it was completely used and dismissed. I agree with the PTSD and mental health issues plaguing him, and who can blame him after something that traumatic? And yes, the cycle of revenge, hatred, and violence – we love to see it in our anime, eh? X_X JJ and Chloe are SUCH AN OTP!! I LOVED HOW ROMANTIC HE WAS HEREEEEEE! And YES, that realization of how hard it can be to see suicidal ideation, even around people you’ve been near for so long! That’s such a good point! Seeing JJ and Chloe so in despair was so sad this episode! Ahhh, that would connect with the “teardrop” from the Blue Moon vampire in the OP! And yes, I knew that the mark on Vanitas’s arm was from the Blue Moon, but I wondered if it was named that specifically, you know, because why not? :P
