**BYSTANDING HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

We finish the first part of season 3 with "Bystander," one of my favorite chapters and episodes of the series this week! BUT, we also get a delve into the "night before the big rematch" at Shiganshina, as our main Trio of Armin, Eren, and Mikasa come together to share their aspirations, and Erwin reveals the intensity of his OWN aspiration with Levi...the hype for where this manga goes from here is PALPABLE! Let's chat about this volume, eh?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

A volume that to me is very close to the anime with even most of the dialogue being word for word the same (well the translations atleast, the manga translation could be the basis for the anime translation even if they originally differed more) but i noticed one thing that is very small but i found interesting, here in the manga Grisha noticed Keith walking away at the wedding, i'm pretty sure that wasn't in the anime. I take that as Grisha knowing (or learning) that Keith was in love with Carla, does that matter or change anything? probably not. Ah, Carla's speech to Keith. On first watch it seemed so positive and uplifting but now it's one of the scenes i find the most melancholic and sad, knowing what's about to come. It seemed Eren really took those words to heart here and in season 4 one of the few times we actually see him react is when Willy Tybur says he wants to live because he was born into this world... but alas, it seems most people weren't just that special enough. Yeah i didn't think that was Bertholdt at first either (and we aren't the only ones), when we first see the Cart Titan i thought we had gotten a glimpse of the person inside. Clearly the animators in some way failed to capture that essential bertholdtness in that scene 😜 (might have also mentioned this before, but i still think one of the people the Female Titan kills at the windwill back in season 1 looks way more like Bertholdt than what we get here).

I agree, it was mainly how Isayama did the visuals that got me this volume! That is a good point – what do we do with Grisha knowing that Keith loved Carla, if he did? Would it further encourage him to watch over Eren or help him in the end, succeed? It’s an interesting thought for sure… Carla’s speech is so beautiful and sad – sad, because of where Eren takes it or doesn’t later on. Yes, I was HOPING that Eren would hear Willy’s speech and do…something different? But instead, he buckles down with the “ah well – we all have agendas and I gotta get mine done to save my friends” – meanwhile, Armin and Co. are like, “But what if we talked with them–” nevermind. :P I have a feeling S4’s material is going to be a TRIP to go back through! Nah, we don’t find out the Cart Titan’s identity until…well, I’m not there yet in the manga, but in the anime it’s the start of Season 4. But, more on the Cart Titan next volume. *snickers* But I AM glad I wasn’t the only one that thought Bertholdt wasn’t Bertholdt! Isayama not drawing Bertholdt consistently is actually really comical. Poor Bertholdt. Thank you for the comment! 😀
