And OH MY -- things with the mob of cultivators after Hua Cheng get INTERESTING and Xie Lian is NOT letting Hua Cheng live down his "transformation" any time soon -- of course, Hua Cheng has a way to get right back at Xie Lian, as he tries to uncover the events of their..."fight"...in the Thousand Lights Temple!

ahh these chaotic chapters welcoming you to volume 5!!! one thing I love is the cultivators being terrified to even utter hua cheng's name and meanwhile you have xie lian there like "san lang~~" and pinching his cheeks. only hua cheng's gege can get away with that!! i love that moment of qi ying and xie lian both being like 🤩 wow such a cool fighter!! even when it's someone they're fighting against. it reminds me of back in volume 3 in beizi forest when xie lian dropped everything to be like wow this kid is such a good fighter!! and rambled on to him about it sjsjjsjs like they're both total nerds and i bet if they actually sat down to chat for a while they'd be total besties. it's so cute that xie lian bonds with such different people - the wind master and qi ying are so different but they both complement him so well and i love that and xie lian himself is such a good character!! he really has that "cinnamon roll who could actually kill you" energy. like that very positive and calm and kind friend who absolutely blows up on someone and you're like 😳😳 i always read that speech of xie lian's and his backtrack as a very comedic moment but i love your reading of it that it's a moment of xie lian gaining that confidence and pride back ❤️ the analogy of ling wen being the evil IT person is so good hahah. it kinda goes with your analogy about puqi shrine being a savepoint in video game!! ling wen is like that AI or NPC guide character that you go to/ring for missions and intel and comms only she suddenly turns against you 😭😭 ugh hua cheng's complex about protecting xie lian 💔 i guess xie lian doesn't know that he already protected hua cheng way back when!! but there's something so hilarious about tiny pouting ghost king hua cheng I love that analysis about qi rong only being able to imitate he xuan and hua cheng because he hasn't experienced true love/devotion or true hate. OOF. have never thought of that before but it feels so true!!! ahhh it's so wild you're already on volume 5. and volume 6 english translation comes out soon too. you've really timed it perfectly :D here's to a fun tgcf summer ahead! thanks as always!

Thanks for the reaction and welcome to book 5! These two chapters are so chaotic yet interesting, we have LW running away wearing the brocade immortal, QYZ blinding the cultivators by shining a god-level flashlight at them and XL and baby HC eloping their way into the sunset. It was established back during the black water arc that destroying the plaque or the statue of a god is great insult to said God, and here the whole shrine just collapsed into a pile of ruins, no wonder even our cinnamon roll deity is angry and be like "I'm GOD what on earth do you think you're doing" XL: I'm older than all of you combined together! Me: we have 50+ cultivators here, even if they are all just 20 years old (which is impossible given the description about the 'heaven's eye') that'll be more than 1000, your highness did you skip your math classes 800 years ago? I'm pretty sure during the black water arc they all watched that bloody show about HX's life and according to the show he just snapped one night and killed every evil person in town before dying of exhaustion, so starvation is not likely his cause of death. LW has shattered the whole communication array of upper court = the company secretary has kicked every employee out of the company business chat group JW: guess I just cannot have one single day without trouble...and XianLe, you having sth to do with this AGAIN? To HC, the most painful thing in life is to watch his beloved suffer while he can do nothing (see chapter 108), so this baby form may remind him a bit about his early years where he witnessed the fall of XianLe kingdom and his highness back in vol. 3. But as he'd always support XL on his decisions, he didn't object to XL wanting to protect him, nor wearing new clothing bought by his highness. And given what we've seen so far, HC likely has a thing for changing outfit, so he may also be secretly enjoying all this.

Anime Annie

Threat of being fed another meatball equals to Quan Yizhen being truly fearful for his life 🤣 I honestly love him. Quan Yizhen and Xie Lian both reacting the same way to Ling Wen blocking an attack really tells you they're both nerdy about fighting. I love Xie Lian being able to develop this new friendship. Though I miss Shi Qingxuan, their relationship with Xie Lian was more two people that don't really have any hobbies or interests in common but their personalities mesh well together. Xie Lian and Quan Yizhen however do have hobbies in common. Puqi Shrine falling down not long after Xie Lian joked about his previous experience with a Venerable of Empty Words I feel adds to that pain when he says he knew no home of his would last. Also just makes you want to buy/build him an indestructible little shrine for him to call home. I gotta say that moment of Xie Lian's declaration made me think of 'evil' Galadriel when Frodo offers her the ring 😂 Xie Lian just had to go and pinch the cheeks! It's honestly such an adorable image though. Also just when you think the accidental baby acquisition for Hualian (like Wangxian with A-Yuan/Lan Sizhui) is either Banyue, Lang Ying, Guzi, or all three, we get Hua Cheng in child form toddling around and looking like he and Xie Lian are father and child 🥰 Qi Rong's that kid that wants to be like one of the cool kids but also badmouths them every chance he gets. Xie Lian in the previous chapter was able to think up lie after lie to trip up Ling Wen into revealing herself, and then teased Hua Cheng into revealing himself. But when it comes to having to answer for what happened between them at the temple his mind goes blank and he falls to attempting to use a shopping trip (potential fashion montage) as a distraction. And we continue the tradition of cliffhanger-central! 🤣 Introducing a shadowy figure and then ending the chapter is so mean! No need to apologise for Ruby. It's completely understandable that she's barking a little.

I do wanna say that it’s been previously stated when we were introduced to the Waning Moon officer that they wear a mask (the expression on the mask is a ‘woeful smile’) so if they are Yin Yu that maybe why Quan Yizhen wouldn’t recognise them?

Ahhhh, thank you so much for the kind words and comment! I'm SO excited to get into this volume! It's crazy we still have SO MUCH story left to go -- I've pre-ordered volume 6 so I am SOOOO excited to get it hopefully soon! <3 I do LOVE that Xie Lian gets away with SO MUCH with Hua Cheng that NO ONE else would! <3 Especially with pinching his cheeks. I need it animated NOW! I also love that idea that HC has had a protection complex but Xie Lian has protected HC before -- that's so good to note; I am excited to see what this situation with "tiny" HC will lead to in this volume! <3 And ahhhh, now I want nerdy sword talk with XL and QY; you're so right, though, XL has such a wide array of friends! He's so open-minded -- and SERIOUSLY, don't mess with your IT person! That's a good analogy of LW on your end, too! Thank you for the kind words and comment and I am SO ready for a TGCF summer!!!

Yay! Thank you for the kind words and comment and I’m SO happy to be at Book 5! There’s so much CHAOS in these chapters and I feel it’s only the beginning! That’s a good point that even XL may get upset when he’s insulted – even if he says it as a joke, later! And we’ll forgive XL for his math – as an English major, I feel his pain! I am starting to feel for Jun Wu, though – the IT specialist is gone and half your employees have gone missing or kicked the can in the last month; things aren’t looking to good for the business, eh? And yes, you can definitely see that HC is worried that Xie Lian will be in danger and he won’t be able to help him – at least he gets to feed his slight fashion kink on this journey so far! 😛 I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them!

I really enjoy Qi Ying’s character so far – who knew that meatballs could be such a powerful weapon?! That’s also a fascinating note of how XL and QY could relate because of their interests; I hadn’t thought of that before but it’s very cool to see how XL has friends in different capacities. I seriously want HC to just put a barrier around XL’s future home or move him out into the woods with him WangXian style and just live out in the boonies with XL’s little home for left-behind children together. And oooooooh, XL’s declaration being like Galadriel in Fellowship! YES! I can TOTALLY see that now! “You would have a QUEEN!” hahaha! I don’t blame XL for pinching his cheeks – that’s so cute! I love that all these children just congregate to XL, though he may not be the MOST parental; it’s still cute! He’s trying! And then there’s QR…. That’s such a good point, too, that XL is really quick on the upkeep to trick someone or be clever, but mention anything involving possible romance and XieLian.exe stops functioning. And allll the cliffhangers…why are we not surprised! Thank you, though! I’m always afraid people are going to complain with my dogs barking in the reactions, so I’m glad y’all are okay with Ruby! 🙂
