**TIP-OFF WORTHY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

The Finals Game of the Winter Cup is HERE! And our boys are facing off against Rakuzen, their toughest opponent yet! Even in pulling out all the stops from the get-go, things are not looking good, as Akashi seems well-equipped to handle whatever is thrown their way.

In the midst of the Zone, Furihata trying his best, and the mysterious #5 FINALLY being revealed...how can our Seiren boys win, when "Miracles don't happen?" OOF....I'm not ready for the final two weeks of this regular season!

What a gloomy note to end on. Rakuzan has definitely set themselves up to be the toughest mountain they have to climb! Everyone showed up to watch the Finals! Even Hanamiya lmao I love that he only commentates when something bad happens to Seirin. His dedication to being a scumbag is unparalleled. Regarding Kuroko's losing his misdirection, that's one of my favorite plot points in this series. The fact that it was hinted at all the way in Season 2, when Aomine questioned why Akashi never taught Kuroko how to shoot, and then we finally get an explanation 23 episodes later. And it seems so obvious in hindsight, as well. Of course using kamehameha passes and invisible shots would make him standout (lol) but the funny thing is, if Kuroko hadn't acquired these skills, Seirin wouldn't have gotten past the other GOM teams (especially Yosen, which no one was able to score until Kuroko used his "phantom shot"). He needed to develop his shooting and dribbling to win those games, but it might have come at the cost of his and Seirin's future games. Akashi introducing Mayazumi as the "new and better Phantom Sixth Man" was like someone introducing their new girlfriend/boyfriend to their ex. And you can definitely see how Mayazumi's outward personality changed after the flashback (the same way Kuroko adjusted his personality after Akashi taught him how to better use his misdirection)- the whole "hide your emotions" thing. And yes, skipping the opening the first two episodes was to hide Mayazumi's skill (which was sort of hinted on in the OP). I like how all of the starters in Seirin sort of has their "evil counterpart" in Rakuzan. Izuki and Akashi (point guards with special eyes), Hyuga and Mibuchi (shooters with "special shots"), Kuroko and Mayazumi (phantom sixth men), Kagami and Hayama (scorers with Wild/animal instincts), Kiyoshi and Nebuya (uncrowned king centers). And for the most part, the Rakuzan players is shown to be better than their Seirin counterpart (Kagami vs Hayama seems pretty inconclusive atm). Looking forward to see them try to overcome this deficit. Wait, seven episodes left?! How did time go by so quick? I could've sworn you were still in the middle of Season 2 last week lol

The End Card for Episode 62 is honestly one of my favourites because we just know that angry hand yanking Kise back is Kasamatsu, but it also shows Kagami being protective over Kuroko, and I honestly love all their outfits in it. Your reaction to Hyuuga the Hairdresser was perfect. But definitely is couple goals. Show just wanting us to ship them hard. I honestly love how they started out this final part of Season 3 by just firing all this information at us about their families and getting glimpses at their home life. Such a calm before the storm moment. And we *finally* get the whole Kagami/Himuro thing sorted and they're brothers again. Lots of love in the air, both platonic/familial and romantic. Aomine's outfit for the final game is honestly my favourite but at the same time I'm like "A leather jacket...in winter?? 🥶" No wonder he's wearing a hoodie below it on top of a jumper. I absolutely love that it's Murasakibara asking Aomine's opinion on who will win. Really shows his slight growth in that he does care (at least a little). It feels quite nostalgic seeing all the teams and Seirin's family members coming to watch the match. Court officials blasted the air-con so as to get that artificial wind and the really dramatic start to a warm-up. Just an aside though that I do dislike the subtitle choices for several parts of this episode. In Japanese Izuki and Koganei both refer to the person they're talking to as their big sister but the English translation doesn't translate that part so English viewers are left with some confusion as to who the relatives all are, especially as both Izuki and Koganei's big sisters do seem to have a more significant age gap from our boys. Also Hayama refers to Mibuchi as "Leo-nee", and once again this is just translated to "Leo" rather than Big Sister Leo. When you likened Mibuchi to a 90s BL character I was honestly so excited to see your reaction to how Mibuchi is with Hyuuga. Like some of those lines are right out of a 90s BL 🤣 Although the translators subbed what Akashi said as "I accept your challenge" he didn't actually use any pronouns. Fun part when trying to translate Japanese(!) 😅 But yeah as far as I'm aware what he said could be said on behalf of his team as a whole, or just he himself accepting the challenge. Midorima really showing he considers Kise a friend, in my eyes, with him approaching Kise on the bench after his team sort of throttled Kaijo. I love how Midorima doesn't consider this as a win though, because Kaijo wasn't playing at full strength. I honestly feel this was part of how Midorima changed (as well as his unwavering trust in his Shuutoku teammates) after losing to Seirin. I admit to tearing up a little at Furihata, Fukuda, and Kawahara giving Kuroko the sweatband so that he could play holding both his past friend's and current friends' hopes 🥺 And we get an introduction similar to Haikyuu!! with the Karasuno-Shiratorizawa game. But I love the sweetness of Himuro being glad to have made it to Kagami's match juxtaposed with both Hanamiya and Murasakibara's less than enthusiastic responses to Kiyoshi 🤣 Just that nice little bit of humour before we get all tense. Sakurai's response to Hyuuga's entrance was great but I *love* that Wakamatsu totally picked up on that and gives our apologetic mushroom this adorable soft look that just seems so at odds with Wakamatsu as a character. I find it interesting that in the line-up Akashi and Kuroko are facing off, when typically I believe as Captain Akashi should actually be in the same spot as Hyuuga. Can we talk about how Aomine was the one who realised what Kagami's trigger for entering the Zone is? Be still my AoKa heart! Also how adorable was his explanation of the Zone using a bathtub as an analogy! Imayoshi's reactions to this Seirin-Rakuzan game are precisely why he's the only one I'll ship Hanamiya with. I was eating my dinner and almost choked on that d*ck joke! Never have I thought of that line from Imayoshi about Akashi's use of the Emperor Eye was basically a very obvious d*ck joke. That was hilarious and now I'll never be able to think of the Emperor Eye any other way. Our silent king coming in clutch with that block!!! Helps prove that Riko knows how to play a good strategy by subbing Mitobe in. Definitely agree that, especially in an indoor sports' facility, I'd be sweating like a wh*re in church with a dog on my chest (and even more so when it's a fluffy one like Nigou). Tsuchida subbing in for Kuroko and then back out again has to be the quickest substitution I've ever seen. Technically should that not have just been a time out? Kagami trying to help keep Kuroko's spirits up includes calling him useless. Ah, this boy. Sometimes he can say and think some really deep things and is a great and supportive boyfriend. Other times he reminds me that he is just a teenager. "He's a disco ball!" most hilarious description of Mayuzumi ever. Mayuzumi's seiyuu is Oosaka Ryouta who has voiced a lot of very different characters. If you can believe he's also the VA for Sawamura in Daiya, Akaashi in Haikyuu!! and Marco from Shingeki no Kyojin. I do love Mayuzumi's introduction in the flashback has him reading a light novel, just like Kuroko when he was walking through Seirin on his first day was also reading a light novel. The difference though is that we didn't hear any dialogue from Kuroko, whereas we've already gotten a fair amount from Mayuzumi. Aomine, in the Teiko arc, talked about Kuroko observing people and so we got that cute moment with him staring at Momoi and calling Aomine out for his habits when he lies. But when it comes to observing this new Phantom Sixth Man, Kuroko's expression is way more intense and feels almost threatening. Poor Furihata sending Akashi into a flashback of Kuroko's first game with that faceplant 🥺 But he's adorable and does so well against them! Aomine calling him a chihuahua hurts me, but honestly it suggests he's not been around too many chihuahuas. The little headpat from Hyuuga to Fukuda 🥺 Love that we're finally getting a bit from the rest of the team, but it really does highlight just how mentally draining it is to go up against Rakuzan. Mid-game Hyuuga waxes lyrical about Mibuchi's form in his head 🤣 Glad no-one spoiled you with Mibuchi being Hyuuga's role model. Sakurai for being typically a quiet little bean really is at heart a Shooting Guard. I love seeing him being amped up about the three-pointers. I love that you feel like shipping Hyuuga with Mibuchi you're cheating on Riko, but if Kiyoshi's involved it's fine...but I suppose that's because they then become a triangle and a perfect OT3. I find Mibuchi's interactions with Hyuuga interesting in that from the start Mibuchi calls Hyuuga by his first name and uses the suffix -chan which wouldn't be strange between childhood friends, but is between potential strangers. Mibuchi also uses "ore" for their pronoun when talking to Hyuuga which is typically an informal 'I' mostly used by men when they're close with the person. The term used for Void (虚空; Kokū) can also mean "empty sky" or "empty space" which I kind of like better for the shot than void, because when Mibuchi uses it his opponents are unable to jump leaving his 'sky' clear and empty for him to easily make the shot. But of course we have to get the only Uncrowned King watching from the side lines explain Mibuchi's abilities, so the somewhat more pretentious name fits for it being Hanamiya explaining 🤣 Kinda crazy though that he's an onlooker to the four others he got grouped with in Middle School because of their individual skills. I'd be a little concerned that this could make his darker side come out more, but Imayoshi's the one that's more gleeful about the game. Mibuchi's nickname Yasha, or Yaksha, is a type of malevolent spirit; though the term is also used to figuratively describe someone as being a demon, like they translate in the show. An interesting thing is that some translations say 夜叉 can be male or female, whilst others translate it as a female demon. Now this, plus Hayama calling Mibuchi Big Sister and Mibuchi's style of speech at times (they've used "watashi" for their pronoun before amongst other things that in Japanese are considered more feminine speech), could be indicators that Mibuchi is trans or could be homosexual. Kiyoshi didn't appreciate Mibuchi getting that foul off Hyuuga and making Hyuuga get all inside his head. Also means we get to see Kiyoshi battle it out against Nebuya. Imayoshi calling Centres loud definitely feels like he saw and took the opportunity to b*tch about Wakamatsu being loud 🤣 And Wakamatsu nearly immediately proved his point by yelling about Seirin's strategy and causing Imayoshi to plug his ears with his fingers. Nebuya is ridiculous and simple; even when it comes to the names of his 'moves'. Such a straightforward character is definitely hard to dislike. Chibi Hayama is just adorable. Especially when it's about him wanting to have more of an impact and blow away the crowd like his fellow Uncrowned Kings, Nebuya and Mibuchi. Again such a straightforward and likeable character. As much as Akashi is cocky about it, I do have to applaud him for being able to make that dunk look so effortless. I did say Murasakibara had a slight growth in his character, but that hasn't made him into a blind optimist. I'd definitely put him as a firm pessimist with saying the title of the episode "Miracles don't happen." Such a negative end to this set of episodes, especially with how bright and upbeat they began! And now we understand the possum picture! 🤣 Totally agree that a messed up childhood/tragic backstory lends understanding to a character but does not excuse them of their actions. Example being He Xuan in Tian Guan Ci Fu; we understand the reasoning for his revenge against Shi Wudu but we don't excuse the brutality of it or the pain it's caused Shi Qingxuan. But the idea of Hanamiya raised by possums is making me think of an even more feral Hanamiya and that's rather terrifying. Though then Imayoshi can just give him a t-shirt or drape a sign over him that says "Warning: He bites" 🤣 The extra scenes in the endings feel like a juxtaposition with the intense feeling the show gave in this set of episodes. For the Shuutoku one, what kind of power does Takao have in his legs if he brought all of them to that spot? 😂 But in reality I imagine their senpai met up with them and Takao just had to bring Midorima. Considering they're beneath the cherry blossoms (and with how close they are) there is a bittersweetness to this scene in that its likely just before Otsubo, Miyaji, and Kimura are graduating 🥲 The track and field Touou one is great; just gotta have Touou bouncing into other sport anime in these Endings. They did swimming with Ending 5 so now they have to try running. I just love that Kagami, Kuroko, Aomine, and Himuro End Card. Aomine is canonically shown to be quite a tactile person so it's great seeing him be that way with Kuroko again. Also you know I love a little bit of tension between Aomine and Kagami. But I honestly love Himuro and Kuroko just ignoring the bakas and getting along great (especially Himuro's little bribe of I imagine a vanilla milkshake for Kuroko). The Three Uncrowned Kings' End Card is kinda adorable. The person that commented about the AkaFuri ship so long ago did annoy me because telling you about that was basically a spoiler for the interaction to come. But yes between them playing off against one another and that End Card the ship hoisted its colours and set sail, blasting past some long-standing ships in the Kuroko waters when it came to FanFics.

Man at the beginning there your discord made a noise and I really thought it was mine 🤣 totally psyched me out. I love that scene with Riko and Hyuuga at the beginning. SO domestic and one of the best perks to dating a hair dressers son lol also an incredibly intimate thing to do for someone you like lol Kagami really has 0 patience lol 0 to zone in 3 seconds. I bet they weren't even 2 minutes into the game yet lol damn Leo's am I right lol I'm like 99% sure we've never seen Midorima in the zone so I have no clue why they mentioned that at all 🤣 There's something that really kills me inside everytime Teppei yells "vice claw!" when he grabs the ball lol. Just grab it and grunt like a normal dude playing baseball 😂 he sounds like he's actually using an attack and it kills me inside. I may be wrong, but I think the reason Akashi calls him the "new and improved phantom 6th man" even though he's 2 years older is because 1. Akashi takes credit for molding Kuroko into what he is because Kuroko didn't have that play style before Akashi tried to get him to use it so Kuroko almost became a project for him and 2. Seemingly Moriyama also didn't play with that style previously (based on what he said and what the others said about him prior to making the first string since this is the only year hes ever been on the first string). Like he said he didn't find that style exciting or fun but seemingly Akashi convinced him to play with it so once again, Akashis project lol. He feels like he made some fine tuned adjustments with Moriyama that Kuroko didn't have. I guess 🤣.

Right?! Surely it’s just darkest before the dawn…right? But yes, EVERYONE is here! Even the trashiest of trash kings! 😛 That’s such a good point about Kuroko needing those skills to make it that far, but what cost came with that? I still maintain that I am glad Kuroko developed a skill for HIMSELF and didn’t just stay a shadow, but it’s going to be interesting to see what the result of all this is – I do agree with you; the fact that this was foreshadowed for SO long is INSANE! HAHAHA – Seriously, Mayazumi definitely reads like “the new boyfriend” hahaha – that’s interesting about Mayu hiding his emotions; he definitely is more diva-ish than Kuroko to me, or at least more self-centered. And I never thought of the “evil counterpart” thing with Rakuzen but you are SO RIGHT! I LOVE that and will have to bring it up in the next discussion! I’m really excited to see how our Seiren guys try to counter them! And RIGHT?! How did we go by so quick; it’s insane! Still a lot left to go…but so ridiculous to think of how fast we’ve gone through it. Thank you so much for the comment!

HAHAHA – that’s hilarious about the Discord! And UGH, The Riko and Hyuga moment? YES. PLEASE. I love how romantic that opening scene was; show, thank you! And we have Kagami living his best Leo life! 😛 Aomine being proud but also like, “Wait…no, not yet!” hahaha! And I can’t remember Midorima in the zone…I kind of want to see it now! AHAHAHA – The “Vice Claw” moment sounds like a Pokemon move – I have to tone it out. Imagine if the Daiya characters had names for their moves? Asou yelling, “MIRACLE CATCH!” as he slams headfirst into the wall? 😛 Pitchers like Mei and Sawamura would be the only ones that would probably love to “name” their pitches like moves, haha! The reason Akashi calls him the “new and improved” 6th man makes sense…I just like giving it hell because he’s 2 years older. Chihiro being called “ASAHI’S PROJECT” is HILARIOUS! Ridiculous! Hahaha! Thank you for the comment and the laugh on that!

I am all for the end cards and how they paint such a picture of the story and add onto the ships. Seriously, though, Hyuga and Riko are DEFINITELY #couplegoals! I am glad the show is wanting to promote that ship as well! I’m also glad that Kagami and Himuro sorted things out, too! I can say that leather jackets CAN be warm enough…with that hoodie under it! ;) And yes, the growth of Murisakibara and Aomine after the flashback arc is great to see! I also love dorky Aomine and how sweet he is in this with explaining Kagami’s zone. That’s interesting to know about the translations; I still love that Leo is referred to as “big sis,” haha! Speaking of which, YES, Mibuchi’s dialogue to Hyuga was literally out of a 90’s BL - I felt like I was watching “A Foreign Love Affair” for a moment! Also, how many OT3’s can we have?! Why not add another one with Teppei included? That’s neat to note about his “void” shot and the translation. And that note about the sister and how it relates to Mibuchi; I’ll have to bring that up in the discussion as well! Kuroko’s friends supporting him in this game; what a different experience than the Teiko arc we just left last week, right?! Of course Akashi has to be facing Kuroko - it’s a battle of whose “Basketball” is better at this point, right? And yes, Akashi can make that dunk look cool; I’ll give him that. 😛 Wakamatsu having that little look to Sakurai was so sweet! I love how hyped Sakurai was getting! Also, YES, the Imayoshi and Hanamiya ship LIVES in this set! Also, dick jokes in THIS series? Why not?! I love how Touou is basically an athletic team through the end credits, too, hahaha! I don’t know the substitution rules, but yes, Tsuchida was BARELY there, hahaha! I also love that these boys do things that remind us they are high school students, too! CHIHIRO’S VA IS SAWAMURA?! OMGGGGG That range! <3 I love that! And OH MY GOD – I was singing “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast during that scene! He WAS reading a light novel – I am FLOORED by that realization! @.@ Kuroko is definitely threatening in that look to Chihiro – but yes, poor Furihata. This set was not kind to him! Not having how dour these episodes end, like the opposite of their start, similar to last week… *nervous chuckle* And I’m glad the possum picture makes…maybe…sense hahaha! That’s a GREAT example with He Xuan to prove that point as well! 🙂 But also, Hanamiya raised by possums is just terrifying, right?! But on the other hand, I NEED to see fan art now with Imayoshi standing next to him with that shirt that says “Warning: He bites!” And yes, while I was spoiled to FuriAki, seeing that end card was just SO good – I really liked the first and third for this set; agreed! Thank you for the comment and kind words! SO ready for this coming week!
