**TRAUMATIC HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

I was so excited for the Teiko Flashback when I started this episode set...and then KNB decided to "choose violence" and dump as much PAIN and TRAUMA as it could on me. Dear God, the pain of Episodes 15 and 16 CANNOT be understated. All I can say is: Thank god for KagaKuro! For getting me through this set!

My journey with trying to be open-minded with Akashi hits...yet another wall. Please note, I am NOT happy with him in this set. At all. However, I'm not answering any comments with him mentioned, because I want to keep engaging with his character until the end of the series before making my final verdict. So, consider him off limits (unless you spoiler tag) for the comments if you're wanting me to read what y'all write.

No judgment towards anyone that likes Edward Scissorhands, I just have a giant wave of rage against him right now. I'll keep trying to be open-minded.

Fun fact, the OP for this set "ZERO", is sung by Kensho Ono, the voice actor for Kuroko. Now, for all the not-so-fun facts lmao Welp... what a series of dominos that led to the downfall of such a great team. Aomine's fall led to the head coach's decision, which led to the Murasakibara thing, which of course led to everything else crumbling down. The person I actually felt really bad for was Momoi. She basically had to sit there as all her friends fall apart in front of her, and she couldn't do anything but watch as it happened. I love that they expanded on the Aomine thing, where it didn't actually end at the match where he left Kuroko hanging, there was a moment where it seemed like there could be hope for him. It was pretty much the higher powers trying to capitalize on all them 14-year-olds that dealt the final blow. Everything else that happened, I can't really comment on at this moment, since it centers around a certain off-limits character and it's impossible to talk about it without including him. Anyhoo, this was such a great set all in all. This is up there as one of the best flashback arcs in all of anime (in my opinion). They really jam-packed a whole show's worth of story in the span of four episodes. Now, there's only nine/ten episodes left for the main story (three sets, if I remember right?). Sheesh. PS: I'd actually be interested in seeing a read-through for just this section of the manga. There's enough new content that it would be totally warranted (the Teiko arc spans 25 chapters in the manga, which would be over twice the amount of episodes in the anime).

My toxic trait is that I always loved Akashi 😅

The truck

I'm not going to comment on anything really since, you know our agreement and stuff idk what to say. But I have a fan theory that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. It's about what if the miracle's "colour" isn't about your hair or your name, but about your eyes? bc how come the only colour we're missing is orange, but we have yellow and red eyes? IDK it's literally just a fan theory I saw somewhere once and it has never left my head. Also, all of my respects to Midorima for sticking up to his ideals no matter what, love him baby boi.

Ah pain... I'm so sad lol It hurts me to see such a happy and excited Aomine just ready to play some basketball. He was so bright eyed and cheery and ready to play 😭😭 dammit Teikou I totally forgot about Aomines dorky "swoosh" moment but I replayed it about 6 times cuz it's so cute lol I'm so glad this team had Nijimura even though they needed him for so much longer than they had him. I'm glad he recognized that he needed to take his step back for his father and for his own sake too but damn that team needed him for so much longer. I know they were like fighting during this set but the way Midorima said him and Murasakibara both accept and respect Kuroko sounded like such a couples answer lol. I'm glad of all the bullshit this team had going, at very least they all respected and appreciated Momoi and how hard she worked for them to be the best. That girl has been through the wringer and she didn't deserve to be crying alone on the street because the one person she thought would always be by her and Aomines side would forget the promise he made her. I truly would like to erase that rain scene from my memory but it's never leaving. It's just so haunting. He looks so crushed and destroyed and it breaks my heart. That boy deserved better too. He deserved someone in a position of power to care about his wellbeing and to care about how he felt. Murasakibara seemed to be just the last straw to break Akashis back in that situation lol. He just had to be full of himself and bratty and it pushed Akashi into the loony bin lol typical. I hope my love of Aomine makes more sense now as you're nearing the end of the series as it did at the beginning. I feel like Aomine is so harsh at the beginning that you probably had a lot of questions about why I loved him so much but I just love how dynamic he is and how much growth he has. I love his realism and his goofiness and I just really adore him lol.

The studio really did a fantastic job with making all the characters look so much younger and progress through puberty. I feel like it's because they all look like such babies that it really does hit you that these are just kids that are shouldering a heavy burden of "winning is everything". Aomine's words to Kuroko when he was going to quit mean all the more when you get the further context that the Third String Coach told Kuroko he'd be better off quitting. Like a fellow child is giving Kuroko the encouragement that the adult in charge should be. Same for when he was eady to drop into Second String with Kuroko just so as Coach Sanada would give Kuroko one more chance. AoKuro is just too precious in this arc. And painful. Now that you've seen dorky Aomine I can lament about the current Aomine not having enough dorky moments. That part of his character is just too adorable. I laughed at you believing Haizaki had a cold! NijiHai is my only Haizaki ship, but I do sometimes ship Nijimura with Akashi as well. Yay that you like Nijimura! I thought you'd like his handling of his team. His way of being a senpai reminds me a lot of Kasamatsu. "We just have to beat them with our teamwork, right?" the fact that it's *Aomine* saying this hurts! They really gave us the Aomine pain face and the AoKuro break up Part 1 followed by Midorima's lucky item being a desk lamp... That moment with Coach Sanada the look on Aomine's face kills me. He was really hurting in that moment and here was an adult he trusted that didn't help him but instead continued to let him spiral just so as he'd continue playing in games. To me Sanada's words basically said Aomine's only value for Teiko is in his ability to score during matches and nothing else matters. The AoKuro break-up part 2 always kills me. The music, the looks on their faces, and the delivery of the lines by the seiyuu (especially the way Suwabe's voice breaks a few times) are all just so top notch. Add in the gloomy weather and the pain rain, and it just leaves you a bag of emotions. Yes our Valley Girl brat started it. Which when you know that information it lends a somewhat different light to that discussion Murasakibara had with Himuro regarding Akashi and his abilities. His facial expressions during that conversation seemed, to me, that he blames himself a lot for the way Akashi has become. Also helps explain why he listened to ex-captain and didn't play in the Inter-High. Look at Midorima admitting that they were previously friends. Also I take this as confirmation that Midorima considers Kise a good friend, as he continued working as hard as possible. Gives another reason for why Midorima went out of his (and Takao's) way to go see the Kaijo-Seirin practice match. When you said "he made Kuroko cry, he has to go" I did giggle and think "just wait; you haven't seen Kuroko *cry* yet" and then I wanted to cry with the memory of it. Teiko Arc is also the Tears Arc. We get Ogiwara tears, Aomine tears, Kuroko tears, Momoi tears, more Ogiwara tears, and then Kuroko cries once again. It hurts!!! This whole time there's been a meaning behind Kuroko wearing the second sweatband. It hurts but is also sweet. Okay but I love that whole damn speech Kagami gives Kuroko. He's really so straightforward and what he says is something Kuroko really needed to hear. So I think some other people have mentioned that the OP, Zero, is sung by Ono Kensho. The ED, Ambivalence, is by a band called SCREEN mode whose vocalist is Hayashi Yuu (the seiyuu of Ogiwara). Kuroko opens each of these episodes and Ogiwara brings them to a close. Some voice actor information: Nijimura's seiyuu is Okiayu Ryoutarou, and he's also voiced Byakuya from Bleach; Shigure from the 2001 Fruits Basket; Helbram from Nanatsu no Taizai; and Mitsui from Slam Dunk. Ogiwara's seiyuu is Hayashi Yuu, and he's also voiced Abraham Dawson from Banana Fish; Tachihara from Bungou Stray Dogs; Tanaka from Haikyuu!!; Ino from Jujutsu Kaisen; and Edano Tsuyoshi from Mob Psycho 100. Sanada's seiyuu is Koyasu Takehito, and he's also voiced Pesche from Bleach; Nikolai from Bungou Stray Dogs; Hand Demon from Kimetsu no Yaiba; Fujioka Ryouji (Haruhi's Dad) from OHSHC; Adam from SK8; Zeke/Beast Titan from AoT; and Claudia Hodgins from Violet Evergarden. Matsuoka's (the third string coach) seiyuu is Mogami Tsuguo, and he's also voiced Sako Atsuhiro from Boku no Hero; Yao Chen from Great Pretender; Keith Shadis from AoT; Gregson from Yuukoku no Moriarty; and a number of characters from Vinland Saga. Shirogane's seiyuu is Fujiwara Takahiro (and also voices Nebuya [the muscles player on Rakuzan]), and he's also voiced Kurogiri from Boku no Hero. Mochida's (Ogiwara's teammate that speaks to Kuroko) seiyuu is Hatanaka Tasuku, and he's also voiced Denki from Boku no Hero; Hirofumi from Daiya; Touma from Hoshiai no Sora; Reki from SK8; and Flegel Reeves from AoT. Love the Tsurune plug. Also find the comparison between Shuu and Akashi a little funny considering Shuu's seiyuu is Kuroko's VA Ono Kensho! The broken plate analogy always makes me think of the Japanese process called Kintsugi which is the repairing of broken ceramic by using lacquer and gold. The finished product then has an even more beautiful appearance than how it was before it broke. Makes me think of a phoenix rising from the ashes. In this case the break-up of the team turning to individualistic play is slowly brought back and fused together by Kuroko (the gold in this analogy). That joke about Shuutoku letting Midorima come out made me laugh so hard. But yeah, each team has given each of the Generation of Miracles what they needed/desired after their experience at Teiko.

Moth (GreenAppleSause)

And here we have the final colour name character with Nijimura. Of course the original capitan of the GoM, the Skittle Squad, has "Niji" in his name, meaning "Rainbow"

Yessssss! People in the Discord were talking about that name meaning; I LOVE Nijimura's character, so that's amazing! Thank you for the comment and info!

Ooohhh, how fitting that Kuroko's VA sings this OP; I really like it -- it and the ED are a highlight for an otherwise TRAUMATIC episode set. It really is a domino set of failure on many fronts with the actions that happen in this arc and how it traumatizes the people involved. I really do agree that Momoi having to watch all her friends fall is a GUT PUNCH, and I hate seeing Aomine's slow deterioration, even though it is nice to have all these "gaps" with the OVA's being slowly filled in! I appreciate you not spoiling me - I know it sucks to not talk about he-who-shall-not-be-named, but it really has helped me not feel anxious reading comments and that I can naturally experience his character without people trying to bully or persuade me...and then it not working and just leaving me bitter and resentful towards that character. :) There'll be plenty of time to talk about him, though. But OH, I usually distance myself from anything with the manga, because I want to read it, but thank you for the recommendation about a reaction with the Teiko Arc -- I actually have plans for how I'm going to do videos for it, so bear with me (It'll probably be like my AOT manga reactions) but thanks for the heads up! :) And thank you for the kind words and comment!

Oooh, that is interesting about the eye colors! That would rule out MidoTako from being an honorary GoM hahahaha -- but then what about Nijimura? :P I guess he's just the "Keeper" of GoM in that case! Haha! And thank you for understanding and being kind on the flood gates of Akashi. I appreciate it so much; I can't even express it! But also, Midorima! YES! I love how constant he's stayed throughout this entire series, and while he's grown his mindset as a character, he's also been constant and consistent with his ideals; I love him! :3 Thank you for the kind words and comment!!

These episodes are PURE PAIN. I hate the deterioration that Aomine goes through in these episodes -- I just want to go back to his "swoosh" moment always! They definitely needed Nijimura for SO much longer! Seriously, I love his character already and we've only had a few instances of him! And it's so weird, because on the one hand, Midorima and Muri seem like they hate each other, and in the next instance, they're shippable...what the heck, show?! :P Seriously, though, Momoi needs and deserves all the hugs -- I feel so badly that she was put through so much stress, but she still decided to stick by her friends, especially those she knew needed extra help, like Aomine. I love that about her! <3 But yes, no more rain scenes like that! That was TRAUMATIZING! He deserves so much more than what he got in that episode. And man, Murisakibara being the source of all this, hahahaha! Who could have guessed?! YES, honestly, these three seasons have really made me love his character and wish the best for him, especially now that he's in a better place than the past in this show! Thank you for the kind words and comment! Excited for next week!

Yesssssss, the way they make them look like babies is so insane and then you slowly see them progress through puberty — again, the Administration being the true villains of this series from Teiko. I love that this arc took those moments from the OVA’s and added THAT MUCH MORE meaning and angst to them! Getting alllll those extra moments! And pain, yes, lots of pain. 🙁 Petition for more dorky Aomine, PLEASE! I agree, though, Aomine probably felt like just a tool and needed that adult voice to help him and received nothing…UGH. I hate it. Suwabe DELIVERED in that moment…just. We’re all a bag of emotions by the end of it, aren’t we? Nijimura is SUCH a cool character - he DEFINITELY has a Kasamatsu vibe to him and I love it! Midorima was the levity I NEEDED in this flashback arc, and levity in the fact that he was the one constant – the fact that he’s ALWAYS had the lucky items is so cute! And we can see he IS supportive…just in his own, tsundere-style. And YES, Shutoku helped him come out, just saying. That’s a really good point of why Muri didn’t play at InterHigh – now we know why he listened to Akashi. OH, yeah, I thought Kuroko was crying, but that was the warm up. Yup, got to go, now! Too many tears, I’m not here for that pain! At least the wrist band makes sense, even if the meaning is so bittersweet. Kise and Midorima were lights in this dark, dark arc, but Kagami took the cake. I love how communicative and straightforward he is, too! <3 And Kuroko singing the OP for the flashback makes ALLLLLL the sense! Thank you for that info and the Voice Actor info! Ogiwara’s VA also being Abraham Dawson, wow! AND YES! Kensho Ono playing Shu is perfect for that comparison – I imagine if the mangaka had gone with the whole “brothers” angle, that Kuroko’s character would have been like Shu in the show. I love that golden plate analogy! Yessss, taking that metaphor and giving it a more positive spin! I’m all for that! These episodes were great, but I’m ready to move past the angst of middle school….and hopefully not to more angst in the present. **nervous laughter** Surely…right? Thank you so much for the comment!
