**Headphone Warning**

It feels great to be back with Mika and Yu! Our two boys have gone rogue and are bound and determined to not only save each other in this catastrophic world, but...everyone else?!

This volume is setting up a dive to the past and some major reveals, I feel -- but I'm SO GLAD we hopefully won't have to wait long for the next volume!

I've been keeping up with ONS chapter by chapter as it releases and it's only getting more gay and more insane! and I'm here for it! The art is so pretty. Yuu is really fighting the shounen protag destiny tooth and nail 😭 He is out here calling Mika pretty at every opportunity and HE’S RIGHT. I also felt similarly when the scene with Mika trying to convince Yuu to live with Shinoa and forget him. Mika is very selfless but he’s also short-sightedly rash when it comes to Yuu’s safety and future, Yuu is the same in a way. They both want what their idea is of what’s best for the other even if it’s not what they want. But then of course Yuu shut that down really quick LMAO Also this confirms that he heard Shinoa’s confession and in the face of that still decided to run away with Mika. You know any other shounen this would be where they hug and make up but no Yuu is out here painting rainbows! 😭 (Not to mention You has been pining for Mika like since Ancient Greece, I will never let go of that Disney princess “Kiss Mika” scene & genderless angels.) Shinoa’s character is really interesting, especially with the parallels with Mahiru - I like her character but I’m not so happy with her choices at the moment. But it’s interesting because when taking a step back and looking at this all, Kagami (the mangaka) has portrayed Shinoa and Mika as two opposing forces that both dearly love Yuu and have both confessed that to him. The things they represent are different though; Shinoa is a nuclear family life, it’s easier, with kids in the picture. Mika is an uphill battle, he’s not any closer to becoming a human in the future, and has enough baggage to create a tower but it’s ultimately the path Yuu quite explicitly chose. Which I defiantly think hurt Shinoa, especially considering Mahiru, and might be a driving force for these rash actions but we’ll have to wait and see. But Kagami is defiantly purposefully pitting Mika and Shinoa against each other! Kagami makes very strong parallels between Shinoa's feelings for Yu, Mahiru for Guren, and Yu for Mika and visa versa. I absolutely love how flawed these characters are. Mika and Yuu are raiding a village, Shinoa is out here burning supplies, like everyone is popping off at the moment. It’s chaotic. I think Shiki has something up his sleeve, he’s been alive too long and planning this for too long to lose like that. I really like Shiki’s character and I’m so excited to learn more about him. What a fun reaction! Can’t wait for more in the future!

I didn't see anything wrong with what Shinoa said personally. For the food, they knew that Yu/Mika were going to get the food for whatever reason so their blowing up the food was to stop his plan. I think that either way that the people would've starved so I wasn't upset with Shinoa for suggesting they blow up the food since Yu was stealing it and the people most likely do end up starving regardless. For her saying she'd kill Mika to get Yu back I understood her. It could be out of love which is understandable, but Yu is also doing things out of Love. I don't think we're meant to hate her at this point or dislike her, I took it as a sort of parallel to what Yu is doing. She may want Yu back but it *is* primarily to bring back the rest of humanity because she doesn't know that Yu wants to bring back both humanity AND Mika as we the audience do. they should really talk this out tbh. Yu has his "plan" sorta, but the gang doesn't know that soo miscommunication at its finest. I don't *think* the manga would go the yu/shinoa route but Mika saying that Yu should just be with Shinoa made sense at the time since he thought the alternative plan was for Yu to revive him and regret his choice to bring back everyone else for like ever. Idk just random thoughts haha. I hope this didn't come off as like mean or anything I just found it interesting that I was actually mad at Yu throughout this entire volume haha. I felt bad for Mika because he has no choice in the matter and he's really only helping because the opposite is Yu dying. Kind of like the Asuramaru/Krul thing from the last (?) volume but in a different scenario. I could be totally wrong but their talking on the mountain was bittersweet to me personally. Yu seemed like...Yu and that he was alright with the plan and Mika just seemed like he was going along with it for Yu's sake maybe. Hard to explain but it was like he ultimately doesn't want to do it but is anyway if that makes any sense. (you'd think I took all of my jumbled thoughts and just injected them into this comment, so sorry for the length) Seraph was one of the first animes I watched so I'm so excited to catch up on the volumes with you! I cried in the scene where Yu stabbed Mika in the anime. I was watching as it aired so waiting a week for the rest of that was...rough.
