**BLACKWATER HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

After chapters of mystery, we finally make headway learning about the possible origins of the Reverend of Empty Words, but then we take a startling detour to the Rain Master and the waters rise as we traverse from THERE to the depths of the Water Master's third trial...against...THE BLACKWATER CALAMITY!  

It's just a wet 'n' wild extravaganza as the action is INTENSE, the flirting is INCREASED, Pei Ming is SUSPICIOUS, and our poor cinnamon bun deity finds himself making a decision to put his money...where his mouth is. LITERALLY.

You're reading ahead because of all the cliffhangers! (just kidding) Honestly though you have my pain for having to pause for a bit whilst you're out of town. Pei Ming just makes writing d*ck jokes so easy. Quite the character development for Xie Lian. So proud of our little deity. His being willing and able to step back just how much he's progressed. But he's not willing to simply trust the others to do the right thing, and is willing to only step forward if they don't. I gotta laugh at them going through the list of Martial Gods they could ask to help the fishermen. Two are currently in a time-out. One's gallivanting off somewhere. Another just ignores all calls and messages, not even leaving them on 'read'. And our favourite one is forgotten. Martial Gods basically equal kids/teenagers 😆 Hua Cheng may have a costume/cosplay fetish...But in all honesty it's sweet of him to change like that so as not to cause potential trouble for his gege being (once again) in his company. If/When this moment of Pei Ming slicking back his hair gets animated I feel like it's gonna be like he's trying out for a L'Oreal advert 🤣 For Shi Wudu's way of being with Shi Qingxuan he reminds me so much of a helicopter parent. And it could be because he's been in the role of parent to his little brother too. But like you said, when your sibling is old enough/an adult then they need to make their own choices and mistakes. I'm the younger sibling but there used to be the expectation on me to help my older brother make good choices, and be the mature one. I put on the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End OST whilst you were reading the parts with the sea. Made the entire description of the stormy sea that much more epic. Though less epic and more humorous is imagining Xie Lian fishing for fishermen with Ruoye and Pei Ming chucking their catch through the cabin doors 🤣 Pei Ming not gonna let a little thing like his bro's calamity stop him from being a lothario! 🤦‍♀ The Hualian moments give me so much life. I mean you've got mortals trapped amongst the waves but you gotta make time for sitting close to one another and sharing food. They can really make anything a date! BLACK WATER!!! 🤩 Finally traipsed upon their territory. The attempts to distract Pei Ming and Shi Wudu from learning Hua Cheng's true identity kill me. The imagery of Ming Yi and Shi Qingxuan on the Earth Master's shovel is hilarious 🤣 Gotta see if I can find any fanart for that. You have to admit Pei Ming killing the fish bone was pretty badass. Gotta hide the fact Hua Cheng is Hua Cheng from Pei Ming so grabbing tighter to Xie Lian and leaving it all to him is just a way to hide Hua Cheng's true identity. And if that allows Hua Cheng to be closer to Xie Lian that's just an added bonus. Xie Lian you're in dragon bone-infested waters that want to kill you, but sure take a moment to remember the previous time you were in Hua Cheng's arms in the water. Also "other than discovering that Hua Cheng had a fine body" 🤣🤣🤣 And *still* Xie Lian remains oblivious. Your "NOOOOO!!!" did make me laugh pretty hard. In regards to the continued references of sandalwood in Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's novels, there is the potential the scent/wood itself is being used in a symbolic sense. In Chinese Buddhist worship prayer beads are typically crafted from sandalwood. There's a spiritual significance with sandalwood due to it being used in prayer and meditation. There's a belief that it offers grounding, warmth, comfort and as a reminder of blessings.

In the end, SQX still decided to go back with PM to calm his brother down and while XL finally decided for once not to meddle anymore, he has to go there to save hundreds of mortals who happened to be fishing in that area......And HC used his new fisherman outfit to show his attitude once again: "Just do whatever you want, I'm with you" This whole rescue mission reminds me of those gold miner flash games I used to play...especially with XL having RuoYe go grab the mortals here and there and put them in the cabin to be sent back to safety, or this is just my brain going wild. PM: your man here sus XL. XL: no he's from my palace he not sus (casually covering up the fact that it's a literal ghost king) The team entered the water lair of the only ghost king that's not officially performed on stage yet: the black water demon. Nothing should float on his water except coffin with dead people inside, this ghost king sure has a unique taste on water surface decorations. Just as most heavenly officials, you tend to forget that XL is a powerful martial god himself who can kick sh*t out of the reverend of empty words in another man's body, jump in between the fight of a red ghost king and a martial god, and beats up the green goblin every other day as warming up exercise before going farming with his sanlang......So he doesn't need HC's help to slam all 4 bone fish into a mess. And let's not forget HC, once disguised as a 'weak human boy who's scared and hides behind XL', gives death glares behind his god's back to the enemies, and the ghosts they encountered on the ox cart, run away just like that ROFL. So human form or not, he's still terrifying to minor ghosts, no wonder the bone fish admit defeat to the two equally powerful beings just like that. Oops, that's some very literal physical progress between the two main leads! And with XL's luck, if the next second suddenly every other god and maybe even black water suddenly popped out of nowhere to cockblock them, I'd be not a bit surprised. That scream at the end of the reaction is GOLD.

knew you'd love these chapters! the description does get sooo good. I'm also not sure how much is due to mxtx and how is suika (the translator) but whatever it is came together to be magical! I didn't get around to commenting last week, but i keep thinking of shi qingxuan as ancient fantasy china's version of a nepo baby 😁 (of course, one that is popular and beloved!) it's such a shame because it seems like the wind master really loved being a god so to have it all taken away and realise what you DID have wasn't due to your skill... oof. i wanna give them so many hugs!! obsessed with your reaction to all the juicy hualian moments! from hua cheng's fisherman surprise, bun date on a boat, and then the KISS!! your scream had me in stitches. i read ahead last week and was like oh no... romania is going to DIE hahhaa. and of course pei ming. he's such a character! honestly i think one of the reasons he's such a fan favourite is the way he seems to be and kind of IS a total stereotype but also makes himself loveable and hilarious too?? he's just so fun to read!! i love hearing all your theories and analysis, you're just getting more and more mystery each week :D can't wait for next time (i'm so curious to know where you're actually up to but i suppose that's a spoiler for us hehehe).

Ahhh, thank you for the kind words and comment! These chapters were GREAT! It's definitely been a magical combination! And the Wind Master as a Fantasy Nepo Baby! AHAHAHA! I really love the Wind Master, though! All these moments are just SO GOOD with HuaLian! My inner fangirl is just EVERYWHERE in these reactions! I am so glad y'all are feeling the same with me! And yes, while I'm still aggravated at times with Pei Ming, he's growing on me with how ridiculous he is! HAHAHA, I wish that were true, as you all will be caught up with me by the time I get back! Seriously, though, PM makes those jokes SO easy to write! Bless him. And yes, that hair slick back moment – *rolls eyes* The fandom will be freaking out, hahaha! At least he WAS badass killing that fish bone! XL is making slow character development - it’s not fully realized, but it’s getting there! :) The comparison for martial gods is crazy! Also, HC having a costume/cosplay fetish is AMAZING! I love the idea of the POTC soundtrack on while watching this! It’s amazingly a great choice! I’ll need to do that while re-reading! I just need a POTC At World’s End style wedding now with HC and XL, right? Because I am living for these moments! XL in the middle of the MOST danger but at the same time flirting with HC is just…should we expect anything less at this point? And yes, finally the Black Water comes up! :D That’s interesting to know about sandalwood and MXTX and the symbolism there! Thank you for that information! And Shi Wudu is definitely in helicopter parent mode – I’ve dealt with plenty of them with my job, so maybe that’s why his character can be such a turn off! Thank you so much for the comment! The Gold Miner flash games! I haven’t thought of those in YEARS, but you are so right!! That is HILARIOUS!! Man, that takes me back! And the FLIRTING!!! PM trying to uncover the truth and XL’s flimsy-but-somehow-working excuses hahaha!
