**TRASHDAY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

If you asked me where the episodes for this set were going to go plot-wise, I could have gave you a dozen ideas...and NONE OF THEM would have been what happens this week!

Can we all agree that:

- Teppei is an angel, and Hanamiya is a Trash King
- Midorima needs to spend more time with Nigou to warm up to him
- Hyuga needs to grow the hair out...just maybe not dye it
- These refs need to be FIRED!!

Hoo boy, this episode made me want to both tear up AND throw down!

The no over time moment reminded me of the FIFA World Cup - for the group stage. In those you also don’t have overtime, and lots of those games ended in ties. I wonder if the mangaka watched the World Cup, and got inspired by it.

I remember when I first watched Kuroko I actually really liked Hanamiya haha. It was unfortunate that as I kept watching he revealed his true colors which...ouch. When I found out that they were both "uncrowned Kings" I lowkey shipped them and then it turned cursed so...(400 fics on AO3, on the other hand, do not agree). I definitely shed a tear or two as Teppei was getting absolutely devastated on the court. Really makes me wonder how the refs view the randomly appearing bruises like ??? Teppei deserves the world, the Chris-senpai effect really. In other news Kogane and Mitobe as a ship? I'm here for it and it just fits to me as someone who doesn't talk and a guy who talks enough for both of them. At this rate, Qi Rong and Hanamiya will have to duke it out for ultimate Trash King (rooting for QR because at least he's Trash with *style*). I was going to say QR wouldn't do what HM does but he absolutely would and then curse them out while doing it.

Oohhhh, nice -- okay, that does make more sense! I was curious if Japanese basketball was known to do this in regional qualifiers; might have to look into that! :D Thanks for the info and the comment! ^^

The amount of things that can happen in three sets of episodes really makes me think of Seirin's run-and-gun style of play. It's like now they've got a whole team and *their* style of play, the pacing of the show is following suit. But it doesn't feel in any way rushed. "We made it this far because of you" go easy on my shipper's heart there Hyuuga! The feeling of 'nakama' is STRONG with Seirin. Nice little bit of dread sprinkled in for Seirin's next game and then we get one of my favourite skits of Midorima meeting Nigou. It's too damn hilarious. But the entire scene I am definitely Momoi. Also hello new (platonic, for me,) ship just from Kise giving a fainted Momoi a piggyback 😍 Yes, Kagami bringing up Kiyoshi's injury immediately is perfect. No misunderstanding or miscommunication tropes here that drags into multiple episodes. Kuroko's Kagami senses are tingling. They're really so in tune with one another. The symbolism of this scene though is chef's kiss. The stop light, the sound of the car horn. But also it looks *very* similar to the bridge Kuroko walked with Aomine and they had their discussion that resulted in Kuroko shoving his ice lolly down the back of Aomine's shirt. Thought that made a nice little parallel. A wild blonde Hyuuga appears!!! 🤣 He does not suit that blonde hair at all. The longer hair yes. Tie it up like Asahi in Haikyuu!! But you definitely weren't expecting delinquent!Hyuuga to be on the cards for these episodes, right? The first meeting of Kiyoshi and Hyuuga 😍 But dang did Hyuuga almost get railroaded by Kiyoshi's exuberant self. Kiyoshi in this moment reminds me so much of a certain other golden retriever character we love, Ryohei from Tsurune. Riko: Everyone around them has given up on winning. Me: They're not even being subtle. The only one shown so far in this episode to have given up because of that is Hyuuga. You get a nice little insight into Riko, Hyuuga, and Izuki having known each other since before high school. In this moment Hyuuga needed someone to call him out on his behaviour. And Riko was the best person to do it. With Kiyoshi prodding Hyuuga off the cliff and forcing him to admit to his own feelings he's been trying to deny. Breaks your heart a little seeing them hurting like this. That moment on the roof is so heart-warming. And yeah like you I don't believe Hyuuga for one bit that he hates Kiyoshi. Envies him perhaps that he's considered a prodigy, but no not hate. Riko's training menu honestly scares me. That sounds so hard! The swirly pink behind Kiyoshi when he's like "Why me?" for being the captain really drives home his more himbo/spacey qualities 🤣 Aaaand you get your moment with Kiyoshi slinging his arm over Hyuuga similar to the OP. Hyuuga confessing that playing basketball with Kiyoshi is fun...his body language makes it seem like it's an awkward teenager's love confession. Kiyoshi backstory for creating the basketball club: 😍🥰🥺💗 Kiyoshi backstory for Hanamiya: 😭🔪🤬 Gotta say I laughed so hard at you saying "screw you" to Hanamiya for commenting on Kiyoshi's injury in the set before. Knew you wouldn't be prepared for how Hanamiya is related to said injury. Kiyoshi spilling the beans to Hyuuga pulls on my heart strings. But what hurts even more is Riko hearing it. You can tell from her face she's feeling *a lot* of guilt for not noticing Kiyoshi had an injury. Gives you a bit of a different perspective for when Kagami was injured and she was so forceful on not letting him play. And then we get slammed in the face with the feels from Hyuuga being a strong dependable captain, Riko's silence in the shadows, and Kiyoshi's tears. Just tear my heart out why don't you show?? I'm so glad no-one spoiled you about Kiyoshi's injury. Anyone who watches sport anime has the same mindset that "well Seirin's oldest players are second years" 🤷‍♀ But nope. After all the heaviness gotta have some levity. This time in the form of Touou kidnapping Aomine 🤣🤣🤣 I love it. But Imayoshi and Momoi are right that Aomine's way too simple. You really do feel for Kasamatsu. He's a wrangler of unruly puppies rather than a captain 🤣 Furihata, Fukuda and Kawahara are just so earnest and sweet. And Kiyoshi giving them headpats. Love it! But I love that Kuroko and Kagami can't keep a damn thing to themselves. Aomine: *bored with the start of the game* Kuroko: *pulls out Vanishing Drive* Aomine: *sits up and pays attention* I do like his reaction to Kuroko improving himself. Trash calling others trash...Hanamiya being the trash king of Kuroko no Basuke is perfect. But I do have to laugh that his colours are very similar to the colours used for Qi Rong in the donghua and manhua. Second time Kuroko's Kagami senses have been tingling. But honestly I love Kuroko just yoinking him off his feet to stop him from landing a punch on a member of the opposing team. And Kuroko becomes Kagami's voice of reason and helps him properly cool down this time. Unlike last time where his words fired the redhead up even more 🤣 Kiyoshi bringing out the big guns with telling Riko he'll hate her 😭 But our protective Papa Bear has come to play now. Which I would love if Kiyoshi could protect them any other way. Seeing him get hurt hurts too much 😭😭😭 When Aomine sits up, watches your play and gives a somewhat positive comment means you gotta put some respect on Kiyoshi's name. Kiyoshi walking away without even giving a comment Hanamiya is *chef's kiss* You are not worthy of his words, time, nor breath. MEN OF MEN, KIYOSHI TEPPEI!!! 🥺🥺🥺 That final speech by him; such a heart stealer! He may not be the captain but that was definitely an "Oh, captain! My captain!" moment (and now I kinda want to go cry over Dead Poet's Society again...) Aomine and Nigou is probably my favourite of those three end scenes. But girl time with Riko and Momoi is so good. And I love both their outfits. The Kise, Midorima, Momoi, and Nigou End Card is so relaxed and too darn cute. The Hyuuga and Kiyoshi one are just giving more fuel for the ship to keep on chugging along. Kagami and Aomine really be looking like models in that End Card. Again, sorry for the mix-up with the End Cards. Thankfully all sorted now. Your outro felt very much like a sports announcer signing off! 🤣

REALLY?! 400+ fan fics for Teppei and HANAMIYA?! I mean...some of us are masochists, so...I can see it. But wow..I'm hoping the ratio to Teppei fics with OTHER characters makes up for it! @_@ And yes, here for Kogane and Mitobe shipping as polar opposites but both the best of boys! Teppei DEFINITELY has the Chris-senpai vibe for SURE! I seriously want those refs to get a vision check after this game. OOF. T-T Seeing our dude volunteering to "take one for the team" was heartbreaking! And Qi Rong and Hanamiya would SO duke it out! I feel they're SO similar...and now I want to see all the TGCF characters in basketball uniforms. :P QR would likely meet his fate after trying to tamper with one of Midorima's lucky items...Thanks for the comment! ^^

I'm surprised you didn't actually cry during that moment in Teppeis hospital room lol I mean i guess it was a pretty quick scene. Not a lot of time to stew in the feelings and I know you don't cry easily at shows but I was thinking maybe you would 😂 You definitely have a character type lol Chris from daiya fits in that column for you too ahaha. Him and Teppei would get along well. Listen... I understand the hate of Hanamiya but I can't help but feel SLIGHTED that you labelled him trash right away YET GAVE OCHIAI THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. That's all I'll say 🙃🙃

I held it together exceptionally well, hahaha!! But man, these episodes were HEARTBREAKING! But no, Kuroko hasn't drawn tears yet, but it got close! XD Oohhhh, yeah, I may have a soft spot for the older mentor character...Chris and Teppei would be instant friends! I love how in Daiya, everyone gravitates around Chris and instantly loves him, and here, Hyuga is at least a bit tsundere around Teppei. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... ...Okay, but look....Ochiai hopped up off his lily pad and at first seemed harmless, just a little weird, and THEN revealed he was slimy. Hanamiya hits you over the head with a baseball bat from the first encounter that he's a trash king! Definitely less sneaky than Ochiai was! :P Thanks for the comment!

That’s such a cool idea that the show is following Seirin’s “run and gun” style – I love that! :) Also, MY HEART goes out for Hyuga and Teppei’s relationship and the Nakama this team has! <3 Oh my gosh, the Midorima meeting Nigou scene is PERFECTION! I definitely feel the Momoi and Kise ship is a platonic one, too! If someone romantically ships them, I can see it, but I love them as BFF’s! ^^ Kagami being the KING OF COMMUNICATION – Let’s go, Tiger Boy! I agree, it does seem similar to the Kuroko / Aomine bridge scene! Shame Kuroko didn’t shove ice down Kagami’s shirt hahaha! Blonde Hyuga is hysterical – I love the longer hair on him…just…maybe not the blonde – I feel him cutting it short is him being in “leader mode” but it up in a bun would be so cute! And delinquent!Hyuuga is absolutely WILD! He was hit like a truck by Teppei’s kind heart – omg, and Teppei is so similar to Ryohei! And he’s a little spacey himbo – Ryohei isn’t quite to “Himbo” status yet (that seems to be Otaguro), though. That’s a great comparison! But let’s be real – you’re so right – the only one to give up is Hyuga; Riko is NOT subtle! **SHIPS HARDER** Hyuga is in denial just as hard as Takao, though; sure you don’t like him. Sure. That OP shot of them is seared into my brain. And that moment he admits playing with Kiyoshi is fun is SO a confession! My mom used to coach basketball, and I can confirm this menu is pretty accurate…but yeah, Riko is NOT holding back! @_@ I was NOT prepared for Hanamiya to be linked to Teppei’s injury! Just makes you love his character even MORE, right?! -_- And the fact that this is the only time we get with Teppei? CRUEL, Y’ALL. CRUEL. And yesssss, Riko’s treatment of Kagami from season 1 makes SO much more sense – and that scene is so heartbreaking! Hyuga being a LEADER and giving that speech to Teppei? It’s so beautiful. T.T At least we got to break the tragic atmosphere with a kidnapping! XD Aomine is surprisingly kosher with it all in the end – I guess he could have been drug to WORSE places, haha! And his reaction to Kuroko is so…HIM. And yes, Kasamatsu is running an animal shelter, not captaining a basketball team. YES! Hanamiya’s color scheme and design is SO reminiscent of Qi Rong! Has MXTX watched KNB? We need answers! Also, yes, Kagami and Kuroko are so in sync! I love how they help each other…and are total teenage dudes, sharing Teppei’s backstory with the team, haha! Teppei is just…*sigh* SO GOOD! This set was definitely his and Hyuga’s! Oh Captain, my Captain, indeed! The end credits scenes and the end cards are SO COOL and ADORABLE! And no worries about the note cards! I’m glad we got it straightened out in the Discord! :) I can’t WAIT for the next episode! Thanks for the comment and kind words!
