*HEADPHONE WARNING*

Welp, we're back on the "NOPE TRAIN" these chapters, as MXTX finally reveals the Human Face Disease in all its gory glory and...it's QUITE disturbing! But more interestingly, there's a LOT of questions set up this set of chapters that we the readers do NOT get answers for, which is pulling me deeper into the mystery of this series!

Oh, and Lang Ying may not be able to be killed by Xie Lian and Bai Wu Xiang is here being the most sinister and creepy! No big deal. MXTX heard us ask, and decided to DELIVER!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Almost halfway! As much as I also wish you could just...read it all at once, I appreciate your theories and analysis and excitement way too much. And honestly it's giving me something to look forward to every week! I read the book in pretty quick succession so these videos are really giving me the chance to savour it. Agreed with everyone above me, these chapters are so stressful to reread. I just want to wrap Xie Lian in a blanket and feed him some cheese. The human face disease is just so horrifying in such a specific way...it's like a combination of parasites and contagion. Lovely! But I definitely agree with you that out of volumes 1/2/3 so far, volume 3 is my fave, even if it's sometimes horrifying. As usual can't wait till next week. I'm almost disappointed I managed to watch all of this in one sitting (I usually watch on Tuesday nights after work and sometimes fall asleep to you spinning some theories, so I have to catch up later). I won't encourage you to read ahead...but I wouldn't blame you if you did! :D

Hi Romania, enjoying your reaction as always. NO SPOILERS! With the gory glory and unexplained mysteries surrounding the human face disease, the story just gets better and better, right? Apart from the body horror, what really gets me is the speech by Guoshi, talking about the idea of fate and everything being predetermined, which is so frustrating to read even for us readers, not to mention to our cinnamon bun deity's ear. XL: Me brings BWX? Damn it! Me: But fate brings XC to you, honey! Still, there's a silver lining! Speaking of XC, this time, a still bandaged but all-covered-up nurse! Love the way MXTX writes, in which, after scaring and disgusting us to the core, she manages to surprise us with Hualian goodies in a way so subtle that I didn't pick them all up until my second read. One more thing about the little game FX and MQ were told by XL to play. They are playing idioms solitaire, where each of them says an idiom in turn, which has to start with a word that has the same pronunciation with the last word of the previous idiom said by the other person. (In mandarin, most idioms consist of four words (eg: 天官赐福), making the game easy to play but hard to stop. It could very well go on for quite a while!) Finally, the novel was written around the years of 2017-2018, just less than two years before the Covid-19 pandemic kicked off. Foreboding, right?

I do agree the story gets better and better and MXTX is FLEXING her writing abilities in this volume FOR SURE! While I do appreciate some of what the guoshi says, there is a large part of me that feels he may too far in places and it really hurts for Xie Lian, who desperately wants to help people...I hate it for him! I definitely don't want to know about the Hua Cheng moments I "miss" until the end of the story -- I feel I was a little spoiled by comments with the reveal that he possible 'started' the riot when XL left and it bummed me out. So I'll have to do an FYI in next week's discussion, it looks like... That is good to know about Idiom Solitaire, though, hahaha, and that this was written before Covid's pandemic...DEFINITELY foreshadowing and ominous, though! *puts on tinfoil hat* Thank you for the comment!

I definitely want to savor this book, because I know I'm going to miss it when I'm done, so I'm glad you all are patiently reading along with me! But yessss, Xie Lian needs a hug and a blanket FOR SURE! I do love volume 2, but three is my favorite so far -- it'll be fun to go back at the end and rank the volumes! :D :D Hahaha, thank you for the kind words! I may only have to read ahead if I have trips for work coming up but I wish the manhua chapters would get translated so I could talk about them as well!
