**SEASON FINALE HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

While I was sad we didn't get much Yor this final episode, I was OVER THE MOON at not only Damian focus, but plot PROGRESSION, y'all!

Loid was realllllly trying to work his magic this episode with the Desmond patriarch; time may tell how fruitful this "first contact" will be, but I could DEFINITELY go for more conversations between Loid and Damian -- if it helps Damian get closer to Anya in the process, too...I won't complain! :)

It'll be sad to have this series on hiatus, but I am excited for the season to come! Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Donovan D.'s outlook is a sort of crystallization of the relationships between our protagonist trio, he doesn't seem so much like a bad guy, more like the enemy that the Forger family ARE themselves. The season has been focusing a lot on the role of things, role of a father, role of a mother, role of a wife, role of a spy. Is there really a difference between what is seen as a role in society and the genuine article? The only difference, normally, is inside your own head. You could hate your wife but pretend to her and everyone that you don't, only you would know. So for all intents and purposes, you're a good husband. I wonder if Donovan D. just understands that - you can't truly know another person. Just look at the Forgers! They're all hiding things from one another, Twilight most of all and most heinously of all, he has the least genuine intentions of the whole family. Twilight isn't Loid Forger, but his wife thinks he is, and its mirrored with Yor, but to a lesser degree. Interestingly, Anya is a kind of an "anti-Donovan", she CAN actually understand another person's intent and feelings, she's just not always very good at it. She is also a deceiver though. Is Donovan D. just the most honest one of them? He doesn't play the pretend game, he knows they're all strangers around him, so he doesn't see the point of separating his internal world and his exterior one, he is very clear about who he is (it's just my theory, I have no actual idea) with everyone. He doesn't "play" the father, he is just a very busy man because of his job, so he neglects his children. I think his weird facial expressions may be indicative of it too - it's ether total open-eyed absorption (or open-eyed shock), or suspicion. He is clearly annoyed by emotionalism. Very naked with his dispassionate outlook on human relationships. "It's no issue" "it's just a child's squabble" - he doesn't care about things which aren't important objectively to him. A child's feelings? That's really their business. I find Donovan D. very interesting because he's a good foil to Loid, the shifting, manipulative character who has good emotional beats as part of his deceit that bleeds into his internal, personal reality. Donovan D. doesn't come across as a liar, but he is as a result dispassionate, a sort of inverted Loid. overall, a good antagonist, but I doubt a villain. [side note: I just realized that Donovan might not even be up to any war nonsense at all, how many times have the WISE agents been wrong about intelligence at this point, haha]

We'll have to see what happens with the storyline and Donovan's character, but it's interesting with the concept that the Forger's are the enemy...I don't really look at it that way based on the conversation, though. Donovan is positioned as the stereotypical "antagonist that doesn't believe either side can compromise and find peace" and Loid and Yor are obviously going to represent the compromise and proof that both sides can work peacefully together! :) That's not to say Donovan isn't a compelling character or the Anti-Forger's, but I can't say I think the Forgers are the "bad guys" in the story at this point. I do love your observation that Donovan is a foil to Loid - he totally is! And I like that idea that he's very open and genuine about his role as a father, whereas Loid is a bit manipulative and not "really" a dad -- that's a really cool observation; an "inverted Loid" is a really cool way of viewing him! :) At this point, I think the series is going to make a point that there's no "villain" but two sides of people that have the opportunity to come together...but we'll see what season two has in store! :) Thanks for the comment!
