**REIGEN-THEMED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

Reigen has been absent this entire second half of the season for the most part, but he has come back in a TOUR DE FORCE in this episode! The reveal of if he's Claw's boss, his ACTUAL HANDLING of the Claw Espers, and the fact that he may be the Adult of Adults in this world of "children who never grew up" is ASTOUNDING.  

Give this King a crown...and let's pray that Mob doesn't go off the deep end after Reigen has seemingly been silenced by Sakurai...hoo boy...next week is the Season 1 Finale! I'm not ready.

41:36 "master debater" I heard smt way differently at first. This episode made me fall in love with Reigen since, even though I liked him at the start, finding out that he is more than a smooth-talking conman was good. Like he's not a sensei for nothing, despite being a conman he still has a good head on his shoulders. Also, Suzuki x Ritsu, as a ship. It's my favourite ship in this show. But that's all I'm going to say since they have barely even interacted so I don't wanna give away anything. just, I hope that the time goes fast so that you will get to the episodes soon and I can spam the discord with all the art about them. edit btw: your headcanon about Reigen smoking is pretty spot on. According to the character GUIDEBOOK (with capital letters apparently), Reigen stopped smoking completely after he met Mob.

As soon as I said it, I questioned if anyone would think I said...otherwise...bwahaha! But yes, Reigen may have become my favorite after this episode -- he's a con man, but a man with a good heart and looking after Mob! :3 Him quitting smoking because of Mob is Friggin' ADORABLE and perfect! And thank you for not spoiling me but I'm soooooo excited for possibly more Ritsu x Sho things! :D I can't wait! Thank you for the comment!

This episode always reminds of this particular tweet ‘Shinji Ikari: i mustn’t run away! I mustn’t run away! Reigen arataka: what are you like 15? Run away idiot’ Now you may understand the meme going round of Reigen being inserted into other shonen series to save the protagonist from the world they live in. ONE decided to write a ‘chosen one’ or ‘powerful child’ story and instead have their mentor say “No you are a child. It’s okay to run away. I don’t want you to be vulnerable to this kind of violence. Let me protect you”. You are quite right that Reigen is the ultimate adult. I remember watching jjk and when I saw Nanami I was instantly connected to him because I was like thank god there’s another Reigen out there. It really just shows the absolute absurdity of teenagers fighting grown ass adults who want to take over the world. I love how ONE just points at this trope and goes “isn’t this a lil bizarre?”There is of course a place for our young shonen protagonists rising up against the * insert big bad here * but honestly you just come to realise they are child soldiers and you curse most of the older influences in their lives. It’s fascinating to watch different people react to this episode because I’ve seen too many reactors get hyped for Mob’s 100% and get frustrated at Reigen and I just think ‘wow. You really don’t understand the show.’ This middle schooler has been established that he is TRAUMATISED by his actions in the past. While also forgetting that going up to 100% as a concept is not ideal at all. Absolutely fucking right Reigen will stop Mob going to ‘murderous intent’! This is not a ‘hype’ moment. Even if Mob didn’t have a complex Reigen would not accept a CHILD killing/harming anyone. GOD I LOVE REIGEN SOO MUCH. I think you now fully understand the hype for him. This man better be husbando next year or I swear 😄 #ReigenSweep Also don’t get me started on that lil flashback we got 🥺 When it comes to duos in anime Mob and Reigen are up there with the absolute best. Your reaction to this episode was such a delight! Particularly how long it took for you to be 100% sure that Reigen is not the boss. Bones knew exactly what they were doing with that end credits scene last episode. Honestly the fact the he wasn’t even trying to be the boss at all but just oozes soo much confidence and has max charisma stats that he can just walk up to this obviously dodgy organisation and just be himself is *chefs kiss* It was truly the greatest con. Also the drop kick will never not fail to make me gut laugh. The absolute BALLS on this man. I’m soo excited for the finale and luckily I don’t have to wait long at all!

If Reigen Arataka were in the NGE universe…it would be a MUCH different story – I just love the idea of him throwing salt in Gendo’s eyes. ;) I was actually planning on bringing that up in the next discussion I record, about Reigen self-inserting into shonen series! I love the “twist” that ONE does with Reigen as the mentor here and I could SO see Reigen and Nanami…maybe getting along? Actually? Leave Dimple to Gojo! 😀 I love that ONE is actively against the “child soldier” trope and points out how messed up it is and that these “adults” in Claw are actually children who haven’t grown up, or at least, according to Reigen. And I was 100% on board with Mob NOT fighting in this – I don’t want our bean to be traumatized – I am actively happy that Reigen stopped him! :3 To see how far we’ve come in knowing Reigen’s character is amazing this season – I honestly understand the hype now and love him, too! Y’all BETTER vote for him in the Husbando poll! #ReigenSweep!!! And that flashback where we ALREADY see the seeds of Mob making Reigen’s life better? Love it! Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so pleased with the surprise and twists this episode gave us! BONES is just perfect in creating this series and I love that I’ve fallen for this show and it’s precious summer child and best con man. The BALLS on this man indeed!
