We're STARTING VOLUME 2, Y'ALL! I'm so excited to be diving into the unknown past the donghua!

This second volume is off with a BANG!  In three chapters (32-34 of the web serialization), we have SO many new characters, new mysteries, and a new question challenged to our divine cinnamon bun and his new friend, The Windmaster! San Lang could be behind a heavenly official in peril, but surely there's nothing shady lurking under the surface here, right? RIGHT?!

It's going to be hard not reading ahead, y'all! I'm so excited for this new volume and I hope you all are, too! I'm going to try and keep my thoughts neutral on characters for now...TRY being the key word!

Thank you for Reading with me and for all the support!

loved the reaction!! just a correction - Lang Qianqiu is the crown prince of Yong'an - the founder of the Yong'an kingdom was the rebel general (so they are not the same person bc how can a founder be the crown prince) it seems the bandaged boy from the Yujun mountain will be back in the future yes it is mentioned during the HC vs 33 officials that after that (even though they didn't accept his challenge) he's fought the 2 of them numerous times XL referring to himself in the 3rd person is a politeness thing (similar to this one, this servant etc.) I noticed XL is super quiet and reserved during his walk with JW - even in his thoughts (which are normally racing almost) something to add to XL/JW relationship: during HC/XL 1st night in the shrine just after they met - HC said that JW must really hate XL to exile him twice but XL disagrees 👀 - it's a super complex and interesting relationship yeah Earth Master just doesn't want to socialize with the HR 🤣 even if HC doesn't have anything to do with the missing heavenly official - the HR will probably blame him anyways since you already read the next part - I love the Ghost City!! so beautiful!! JW: be careful of HC and Eming XL: I suddenly can't hear anything (if evil why hot?) the sidekicks for this arc are the Windmaster and LQQ!! I love the Windmaster 😍 I see on which character you changed your mind in the next part 🤣 I loved your theories about the next arc 👀

AAAAAAHHHHH I LOVE THIS! It's quite sad that they're using Xie Lian as an equivalent of the Heavenly Court's jester. We've seen this since episode/chapter 1, with the officials making bets on how fast Xie Lian will last in the Heavenly Court and such. On an artistic level, based on my own experiences in digital art and animation, the reason why Jun Wu's eyes are lighter in the Donghua trailer is based on the lighting and setting of the whole scene. Although the Manhua showed his eyes as black, the Donghua's art style overall is lighter and brighter, thus it only made sense to adjust it from black to greyish electric blue. It's still dark enough to pass as the description, yet light enough to show the intention through the pupils, as pupils often would show intent. Blown-out/dilated pupils would show fondness, softness, happiness, and love. Narrow/shrunk pupils would show hostility, hate, fear, and anger. I just thought I should mention that, but these are all based on my ideas. They're not official explanations lol Pei Xu doesn't want to drag anyone else into his mess. He was ready to take punishment. He's willing to sacrifice his place in the heavenly realm. In a way, I kind of see Lan Wangji in Pei Jr. here. Sacrificing their place in paradise for someone they love, who society is against. Shi Qingxuan is a badass. They're the sassy best friend Xie Lian needs! Lang Qianqiu's weird behavior in the court could probably be to showcase that he was still a young god, still just a child compared to everyone else in the Heavenly Court. (speculation) I don't want to say anything too damning about any of the other new characters. These are dangerous waters and there could be spoilers I might let out. ahhhhhh I look forward to the future episodes 👀👀👀

Wooooo! Uncharted waters!! I’m so hyped!!! Now that I got the whole is-this-a-spoiler/is-this-not-a-spoiler discord talk settled, it’s time for my thoughts! I’m a little sad that you kind of got spoiled from the manhua about Shi Qingxuan’s name, but then again, his reveal wasn’t all that surprising. Their male design in the manhua is also very similar to their female design, so it’s not at all a shocker XDDD But I love them; we stan a versatile king/queen!!! They’re so fun and free-spirited—like the wind! Lol. I really want to see their donghua design, and I also heard that Wei Wuxian’s audio drama VA is going to play him in the donghua!! It’ll be interesting to see how he’ll portray him, so I’m begging season 2 to come back already and give us some crumbs!!! But I didn’t realize how these chapters are such a great set up for the current arc until I was reading along with you. As much as I love the first volume, I’ve grown tired of having to sit through three adaptations of the Ghost Bride/Banyue arcs. I want more adaptations to finally get further into the plot!!! Let me rave about the manhua once again. Because holy smokes, do I prefer these designs of all the adaptations. Because, in the donghua, I wasn’t really a big fan of the Wind Master’s color schemes (although, I think it’s cool that it’s similar to the trans flag colors which is pretty fitting). I think the green and white is more representative for the element of wind. It kind of just felt like they were going “oh, here’s another female goddess, so she should be wearing pink. Idk maybe I’m just biased cuz I saw the manhua designs first so I’m more attached to that design. BUT ALSO — CAN WE TALK ABOUT MY OTHER FAV CHARACTER, MU QING’S DESIGN???? They made him a little plain looking in he donghua, but I like how he’s more regal looking like how they portrayed him in the manhua. WHICH I THINK IS SUCH TELLING CHOICE TO MAKE!!! Like, it’s such a juxtaposition from how Mu Qing used to be just a servant, but now he’s a powerful martial god with his own palace and high status. It was also established that he’s a little vain, like in Ch. 4, it talks about how he did not approve of his statues unless they were beautifully sculpted, and would either secretly destroy them or make his believers resculpt them. So him having this cold beauty just makes his pride more prominent, which is so fitting for his character. He kind of reminds me of Jiang Cheng, so that’s probably why I also love him so much. I’m so happy that you’re continuing the novel despite there being no season 2 yet. It’ll make for a different experience from MDZS and help you tackle the monstrous plot that is TGCF at a steady pace. I can’t wait until next week for more!!!

I’m getting some major Zeus vibes from Pei Ming and his relationship with women

Well, since you've mentioned that you're already done with the reading of the next few chapters, I can say out loud that I laughed so hard at your analyses on Lang Qianqiu......but still, this is exactly what will happen when one finishes mdzs and moves on to the other books of mxtx: everyone just seems so sus! Even that tiger or manhua Jun Wu's flowy ribbon looks super sus LOL Someone else has already mentioned, Lang QianQiu is the prince of Yong'an, which means he's the descendant of the general that overtook Xian Le years ago, because no rebel will name himself a prince rather than a king when he took the throne…… We now know that Yong 'An is the kingdom that overtook the place of Xian Le, imagine what Xie Lian would feel when Kemo asked him whether he's a Yong'an man back at the edge of the sinner's pit. And despite the fact that his kingdom was overthrown by Yong'an, he still tried to stop the fight between Yong'an and Ban Yue kingdom, not willing to just deal with it and used this opportunity as a Ban Yue soldier to seek any type of revenge. And the wind master's true gender reveal! The donghua gave us hints about his gender as his clothing matches the color of the trans flag, and believe me, only dudes would make their female avatar have huge boobs because it's pretty, we women know how heavy they are in real life LOL Romania: Pei Ming is big brother Nie, but womanizer. Me: ROFL, let's just wait and see……

The treatment of Xie Lian by the other Heavenly Officials never fails to piss me off. But they're an interesting foil with those that treat him with respect and kindness (for example Ling Wen). The way that the gods when they were mortals they overthrew each other's kingdoms does make it a lot more understanding for why gods are supposed to keep out of mortal's affairs. Especially as centuries later those kingdoms have completely disappeared. My girl Ling Wen is deserving of *all* the holiday time. But yay for Xie Lian having a thing called manners and thanking her even when she was unable to get the result he was hoping for. Yeah Pei Ming was *that* kinda man before he ascended (and then went even wilder afterwards considering it didn't just have mortal women once he was promoted to being a god). But the events of his ascension is a really interesting juxtaposition with his descendant Pei Su. One lost a battle, whilst the other massacred an entire people. Your reaction to learning that our resident f**kboy Pei Ming also ended up becoming known for being a god of love cracked me up 😂 He definitely gives off that 'da-ge' vibe (especially with how he chastises Shi Qingxuan and brings up the Wind Master's brother). Oh the confirmation of Xie Lian not reading porn yet being curious about it. Xie Lian trying to come up with an explanation on who the 'red-clothed young man' was just makes me think of the bit in the manhua where Xie Lian 'starts bullsh*tting' 😂 Poor Feng Xin really got described as basically having a RBF! Yay!!! E-Ming! My favourite weapon's name finally got mentioned! 🥰🥰🥰 Our darling Wind Master; in a male or female form they are wonderful! 😍 Xie Lian calmly defending Hua Cheng before the Heavenly Court...yes please and thank you! I really hope this scene is good enough to give me shivers when we get it in the donghua. Pei Su wanting to protect Ban Yue and keep her safe and away from the Heavenly Realm 🥺 Ah yes the awkward moment that you meet the god that previously raised you up and fell, and now you're of a higher standing than him. Oh Feng Xin... Lang Qianqiu falling asleep whilst standing! Oh my precious baby god. And seeing as you've read ahead I can tell you your suspicions made me laugh. But I *love* his introduction in the manhua. Why not ride a tiger? I'd rather that than a cloud! 😆 Fu Yao's eyes need a little rest from the eye-rolling or they might roll out of his head! I'm not touching any of your comments about Jun Wu so as I don't spoil you in any way. Our boomer Xie Lian is the only one that could describe the terrifying Ghost King Hua Cheng as "an interesting child"! Xie Lian honestly felt a bit like a teenager with that response about him not being like some princess that's never been out in the world. But at the same time it hurts because it is true that these centuries of time passing has stripped him of at least some of his naïveté. The likening to Hunchback of Notre Dame 🤣Does that make Ban Yue potentially Djali (Esmeralda's goat) in this scenario? Just give me all the Xianle trio feelings. Feng Xin being willing to forgive Xie Lian his debt for repairing his palace 🥺 My only comment regarding Jun Wu: don't be dissing Puqi Shrine!!! 🤬 My heart hurts a little for Xie Lian because it feels like yet another instant of his lack of self-worth when he feels like he doesn't fit with such a magnificent palace, as well as him potentially avoiding a reminder of his past. But at the same time I hope it isn't simply that he feels undeserving of a palace the same as the one from his First Ascension, and rather that he's moved on and truly feels more at home in a smaller and cosier place like Puqi Shrine. Ah Shi Qingxuan I adore you, but thinking everyone and anyone should know exactly who you are gives such 'Popular Girl/Guy' vibes. They'd so be a jock in a High School/University AU! Very late this week with my comment but was making my next AMV and my cold got worse again, so only getting round to watching now. But it was a great reaction that helped cheer me up from feeling sick!

Thank you for the correction about Lang Qianqiu! That helps so much! Yessss, I'm not wanting any hints as to the relationship with JW and XL; but I'm excited to see how it will all pan out in the future, though. Knowing me, my views on characters will change dramatically as we go. And yessss, the Ghost City is so pretty, but yes, "If evil why hot" is a THING with ol' Hua Cheng, isn't it? I may have channeled a bit too much of his ghostly energy with this reaction and discussion, but we'll see how that goes moving into the next set of chapters! :) Thank you so much for the kind words and comment!! :D

Yes, I felt bad with XL and how the other heavenly officials were picking on him and gossiping around him...leave XL alone! I do like his eyes in both the manhua and donghua, so I'm good either way, but that's a good explanation! :) And yessss, I like the reasoning with Pei Jr. and Lang Qianqiu, especially after the next set of chapters, haha! "These are dangerous waters," seems an apt description for this entire volume! :) I appreciate the kind words, though! I'm SOOOOO excited to see where this arc takes us! :) Thank you for the comment!!

And yes, hahahahaha, MDZS "trust no one" mentality, getting me riled up! :) I'm glad I was wrong with Lang for the moment, haha! But I mean, he came in on a TIGER?! How could NOT be a tiny bit suspicious? ;) Ahhhhh, that's a great point about XL being from Xianle and Kemo asking him that...that makes sense with the gossipers, then; good point! Ahhh, that part about the clothes of the WindMaster matching the trans flag is so on point! Hahaha, I'm NOT a busty person, but my BFF is and they will affirm you are correct, apparently, about huge boobs. :) And yessss, we shall see how right or horribly wrong I am about these characters as we go! So far, I'm 0 for 1 with Lang, hahaha! Thanks for the comment!!

We’re in the unknown now!! Ooohhhh, WWX’s VA playing the Wind Master seems SO fitting! <3 I can’t wait! And yesss, I love their attitude; I have a good friend that is just like the Wind Master personality-wise, so they reminded me a lot of him reading these chapters! Ahhh, there is something FRESH about getting into something new without adaptation yet, I agree. And the manhua is SO gorgeous; I love the designs and the details with everyone’s robes! <3 I’m soooo excited to get more into these characters, especially Mu Qing, Pei Ming, Feng Xin, and of course, Jun Wu as we go! And yessss, I’m sad we don’t have updates on the donghua or audio drama, but I’ve REALLY enjoyed the novel reactions and discussion so far, and I’m glad everyone else seems to enjoy them as well! :) And YES! This is already a MUCH different experience than MDZS, but it’s actually a good thing for it! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment!!

2022-10-17 08:28:20 I do hate the “gossip” of the heavenly officials towards XL, especially when he’s doing his best to be the MOST polite to them! >.< But yes, I’m glad Ling Wen isn’t one of those that’s mean to him and she deserves all the holiday vacation days! Pei Ming is….interesting, to say the least! I’m SO fascinated to see what will come of his character in the chapters to go, but yessss, our poor boy XL…too proper to read porn…but wants to…good thing he doesn’t know any resident ghostly bad boys to give him any unduly influence. ;) XL’s “starts BS-ing” panel is one of my favorites, and SO applies in nearly every HR upper court meeting he attends! I love the Wind Master already and yes, E-Ming! SO fascinated! :) Poor Feng Xin, though! I love that Pei Su was wanting to protect Ban Yue and XL stood up for HC – you defend the ones you love, my dudes! I tell you, tigers are SUSPICIOUS! The extra-ness of it all is too much; glad some of my suspicions were quelled about Lang in the next set of chapters…what a BRO… HAHAHAHA – THANK YOU for not commenting on Jun Wu…gonna need to watch out for the YT comments next week, I feel. But yes, him dissing Puqi Shrine was sad – I mean, SL never slandered it at all! I hope, like you noted, that he just feels more at home at the more modest, and cozy shrine than a giant, empty and cold palace. :3 I like that XL stands up for himself, too, and YES. OMG, in the Discord I mentioned Ban Yue being Djali! XD Absolutely!! And Fu Yao and Nan Feng and the Wind Master are the gargoyles! :) Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I am sorry you were sick and hope you are feeling better! :) I’m glad this helped cheer you up! ^^
