**WELSH HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Ohhh, oh ho ho -- Askeladd, you just got SO much more mysterious! And I am SO excited to see where your character goes to from here -- so many new questions, and not many answers in sight...YET...just how I like a good mystery box!

Speaking of characters and mystery boxes, Canute continues to be intriguing, as poor Thorfinn is tasked with being his knigh--err, guardian on this new journey through Whales, with Thorkell seemingly now out of sight...but the danger and threats he's brought still well within range. I'm getting really hyped with this series, now!

I gotta be honest. I am kinda blown away by how much you were able to extract from this episode . A single line or a 5 second scene was all it took for you to comprehend and interpret the information . I cannot confirm or deny if what you said was on point or not , haha . You will find out eventually I am sure. Its funny how many vinland saga reactions i have seen and most people really disliked this episode because it was mostly a transition /set up episode . It did not have big obvious plot twist or elaborate action set pieces. And youre absolutely right about peeling off the layers of Askelads character and his background . We only get breadcrumbs , but becasue hes the most interesting and most captivating character in the show , these breadcrumbs are so juicy and important . Same for most scenes too, like with his crew morale getting low due to constant marching and not knowing actual goal. Even Bjorn is worried because he is kept in the dark and he is supposed to be Askelads right hand man. The show creates the unease and not knowing Askelads true goals via the use of silence and lack of music in this ep. The marching montages was pretty effective at that too. Tho, i found it funny how you needed to give context for who Goku . I dont think I have ever seen that in any anime discussion , lol. You made a lot of great points and included everyone and everything , honestly theres not much to say for me hahaha.

These are the types of episodes I live for and it's EXACTLY why I don't want people hyping me up on which episodes are their favorites or their least until after I watch them -- I love the transition and set up with the characters in this episode and if people had said beforehand it wasn't as great as other episodes, I might not have gotten into it as much. :) But Askeladd at this point is my favorite character just out of his sheer complexity! I love that we're getting the tiniest things on him, but they're sooooo intriguing!! And us not knowing what he's thinking -- and the OTHERS not knowing is a great little twist. Up until now, Bjorn and the troops have been on the same page as him (or Bjorn at least) so even if Askeladd's actions seemed out of nowhere, we could roll with it because the Viking's were on board...but now? Now Askeladd is being mysterious to EVERYONE and that fascinates me! Hahahahahaha....I mean....maybe someone doesn't know who Goku is? :P Have the young ones seen DBZ? "This is how the Google works..." Thank you so much for the comment! I'm excited for Episode 13 now!

Great reaction, as usual. I’ve recently caught up with this anime (up until this episode) and I must say it has been a slow-ish build up so far but I really like how everything has come together so far. I fully agree with you about Askeladd and I loved your analysis on him, he’s definitely the most interesting character in the series and and I keep guessing as to what he’ll do next. Surely, there must be more significance to his mother’s name apart from the Welsh connection - at least I hope so. 😀 Thorfinn still is not quite clicking with me - he’s had some development but a tiny amount in comparison to most protagonists in similar circumstances. I hope I change my mind on him by the end of the season but I haven’t been that underwhelmed by an MC in a while and whilst I feel for him and understand his motivation, something is lacking for me. It was really sweet and sad , though , seeing Leif still looking for him 😭 I hope they get to meet and we see more of Thorfinn’s family.

Yay, thank you for the kind words!! This show has been a slow burn, but I have really enjoyed the very subtle, but intriguing character work it's doing -- especially with Askeladd. He's my favorite character so far in the show. I mean, ta this point, I consider Askeladd the true protagonist of this series -- at least this season. Thorfinn is in "development" as far as I'm concerned and I'm still waiting to see how his interactions with Canute affect his growth -- I feel this second half of the series is starting to lean more towards Askeladd (from what I've seen so far), which is fun, because he's sort of an "older" version of what Thorfinn COULD become...or at least to me, anyway. It'll be interesting to see if we go back to Thorfinn's hometown and see his family again; on the one hand, I want to, but on the other -- Leif's situation almost makes me wonder if I don't. T-T I guess we'll see, eh? Thanks for the comment!!
