**FIERY AND VENOMOUS HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This series loves to answer two of your questions...and then give you a DOZEN more to think about! Seriously, the mystery is unfolding and the layers of it are taking shape and I'm SO EXCITED!

We learn that Xie Lian and Ban Yue, our mysterious ghostly  priestess, have a past...one Yao (who's decided to pop in) doesn't seem too impressed with, though. Things are getting violent, curious, and Hua Cheng -- I mean, San Lang, seems content to sit back and let it all unfold...as long as his beloved cinnamon bun deity isn't hurt in the process. 

But seriously, the CLIFFHANGERS IN THIS SHOW. *sigh* Y'all knew this was coming...

So... Xie Lian was the "general" on the tombstone who got himself constantly demoted before he got himself trampled to "death". That was one of those spoilers it was fun to keep secret (for most of us anyway). Banyue (the girl) isn't going to explain her actions during the siege for some reason, but it seems like she's spent her time since her death slowly trapping all the wrath soldiers in the Pit. But the snakes aren't obeying her so someone else seems to be involved here - Zhao maybe? We haven't seen his body in the Pit yet. We also haven't seen the other two women again... Fu Yao was guarding the travelers - only a few of them snuck off to raid the city. They'll be fine if they stay in the circle he created. He's a very suspicious person - meaning he suspects everyone of everything, lol. Xie Lian was checking San Lang out for the bracers and the jingly boots, haha. He knows, he's just not saying anything. San Lang looking smug and unaffected by the heaps of ghost bodies piled all around. Well, Xie Lian already announced his true self and it doesn't seem like Hua Cheng has to worry about being liked or not at this point - Xie Lian is fine with him, whoever and whatever he really is. What was Xie Lian cooking in his helmet that it made the other soldiers curse and little Banyue barf? Since you know now that Xie Lian has been alive for hundreds of years, he can probably eat anything and be okay (or eat nothing, maybe?). Still, why bother to cook nasty slop? He's so weird, lol. Yeah, who was the boy with the face we didn't get to see? A Yong'An boy, friend of Banyue. I love that Xie Lian taught her to do little dances and wrestle so she might become a street performer like he was at some point in the past (not a spoiler - that was mentioned when he was fighting the brides and accidentally asked for money). I don't think Xie Lian is incapable of remembering what happened over the last several hundred years - I think he'd rather not. After all, his memory comes back pretty clearly about the Banyue stuff once he's reminded of it. So the memories are there but he's keeping a lot of them locked away because...who would want to remember being trampled to death? I also think he knows why he was wandering incognito to begin with, but he doesn't want to talk about it or explain it or think about it or maybe it's just another long and complicated story that has nothing to do with this one. We got some of the backstories for all this mess - let's see if the next episode explains more.

Yessss, Zhao and the other women are SUSPICIOUS -- but also, it is really sad that Xie Lian was the general who was literally trampled to death. Our cinnamon bun deity can't catch a break! I like the idea that Fu Yao is suspicious....of everyone! hahaha! And Xie Lian just being nonjudgmental of this cat man; we love to see it, eh? But also, yeah, why he was making that gruel in the helmet is beyond me...maybe to not look suspicious? Poor guy. And yes, it seems that he has a limited amount of memory, so he's just picked and chosen what he wants to remember; it deffffinitely suggests our poor dude has had a rough past **grabs popcorn and wants to see it** but I'm sure we'll get more on that as we go!
