**LOVELY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

This series has been SOLID, but this episode officially cements the first act of the story "over," and WHAT a set up we end with, as we learn more about Misaaaaaa in this episode, and what a backstory she's woven so far!  

We have Light and L reluctantly working together, learning how Shinigami can be killed, and the most bizarre, platonic "love triangle" seems to be taking shape in this macabre twist on the Sherlock story combined with supernatural elements that is quickly becoming one of my favorites! And we're only a third of the way in. Hoo boy. Let's talk about THIS!

About the "doesn't possess the Death Note but can write names and kill people" clause: I think it refers to Ray Penber's situation. He was not an owner od DN itself (doesn't have a shinigami) and didn't even touch (can't see that shinigami) but did write those names and activate it. Also, L's reaction to shinigami news might be not only the of an agnostic, but probably of a religious person as well? I swear I don't remember enough of him to ascertain something like that even for myself LOL But still, if you're a devout believer in a God or shinto gods, coming into contact with a killing power, be it God's wish or evil powers... can be overwhelming. 'Gelus' kinda sounds like 'Angelus' to me, like a guardian angel.

That part about Ray makes perfect sense! I think I talk about that in a future discussion, but can't remember, hahaha! And that would be an interesting point! The way L phrases it makes it sound like he doesn't believe in Shinigami, though, since he questions their existence, but that's an interesting take on it! And yesssss, that does sound a guardian angel -- that would be really clever, if it's a play on both! :P Thank you so much for the comment!! :D :D
