**FRENEMY-FIED HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

Light and L diverge into sports anime territory for a hot second, before transitioning back to their cat and mouse game of trying to identify one another. However, the game takes a time out as Chief Yagami's health is put at risk.   

As Light seems to gain a piece of the puzzle to his advantage, L gains more suspicion of Light as Kira, and a mysterious cliffhanger seems like it's going to take this story on yet another crazy turn! I'm HOOKED now, y'all, and I'm not sure I can wait to find out more!

I am going to start with the end: that line Light told Ryuk!! That he never felt as happy as now possessing the DN. Now this is a question that pops up usually around this ep: is Light always been Kira inside, or did the DN influence him to the point of becoming Kira? For me , there is a phrase that represents my thoughts about this question : ‘ Power doesn’t change people, it reveals them ‘ Light has always had a Superiority complex, has been bored out of his eyes because nothing challenges him, loathed the rotten world he lives in and especially has Charm and Charisma on his side, which explains why he was so popular in high school and let’s say charm and charisma are lethal weapons in the hand of a psychopath / sociopath.. BUT , he had a sense of justice and was going to follow the footsteps of his father and become a great detective like L to change this world through the justice system. Then the DN happened, he stumbled upon it and thought he was Chosen!! Chosen ones in his eyes are Gods and everything a God will do is right if it is to change this world … fucked up, you say?? Let’s remember he broke down in an alley in ep 1 after the third double murder but decided that this mission is way more important than his soul and then Kira was born !! So all in all, he always has those different ideas, but it is only the DN that permitted (compromised?!) him to put them in action!! I hope I made sense, I tend to rumble when a character fascinates me!! 😔😚😚 Now that tennis match is the essence of this show, a chess match disguised in a tennis match, when each one anticipated , analyzed the move, countermove , x 10 countermove of each other!! It might be my favorite L/Light exchange in their cat and mouse game. I love to see them siting and talking and analyzing things together while trying to trap each other!! That discussion is so high level , There is the IQ of a small country in that table 😅😂😂 *it’s a joke people, so calm down* Notice that Light succeeded at being humble because even if he knew the fourth photo is a fake story and L put in doubt his reasoning he kept his Ego in check ( for once!!) and said he didn’t thought things that far!! See Light you can do it if you want 🤣🤣 And Chief Yagami giving us a scare!! If I will feel sorry for someone in DN it is undoubtedly, absolutely him !! Poor man!! But just to clarify some things : Light is genuinely concerned about his dad as twisted as his mind is at that point, his phrase meant -for me at least- that he should just put the L thoughts aside because L is very perceptive and could read things off him if Light mind is boiling with all those thoughts and it might show in his presence !! He isn’t going to pretend to care about his dad, he is just going to do only that !! I hope your cold is gone now 😊 Love the reaction and discussion as always !!

That is a GREAT point to bring up about Light being Kira from the start or being influenced by the Death Note – it’s something I will DEFINITELY want to bring up in a future discussion, but I like to imagine what Light’s life would have been like without the Death Note…so many possibilities, but HERE WE ARE. It’s interesting to think of what he would have been like with his personality and becoming a detective…I think to answer your question, he’s always had Kira inside him, but the Death Note gave him a means to realize it and to permit him to pursue his future as Kira. He’s definitely fascinating and I’m curious to see where his character will go from here! And YES, the chess match disguised as a tennis match! I LOVE how it’s played out! With the coffee shop, it’s like they’re trying to trap each other in the most civilized way possible, hahaha – I love it. And yes, Light was able to keep his ego in check! It can be done! :) I like how they knock each other down pegs throughout this episode. Seriously, the one I empathize most with at this point is Chief Yagami. I feel for our man! I do think that Light cares about his dad, but I do think he’s becoming more and more wrapped up in being Kira and playing off of Light, that he has to take a step back from just being Chief Yagami’s son…and that is sad to me.
