I'm glad that we FINALLY get to Yanli's death for the final time (after the donghua and The Untamed) in this novel, because those first few chapters were ROUGH. Kudos to the voice actor for WuXian, especially; his pain in these chapters was PALPABLE in the audio drama!

Luckily, we dive back to the present where WuXian finds a way to save the cultivators of the burial mound, with some help from some grisly, bloody corpses! The novel spared no expense in these chapters to show how brutal and sad the deaths of the Wen's were...

And finally, to lighten things up, we have the extras "Sleeping Together" and "Planting Radishes" as a bright light before we dive back into more angst...worth it, though! These chapters were FANTASTIC!

Thank you for listening with me and for all the support!

Yes, we're moving towards the ending chapters of the novel. Despite my love for all MDZS adaptations, I still like the original ending the best, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts and insights on the "canon"! I just want to say this again. Thank you so much for your reaction to the novel and the audio drama. They are the thing that I look forward to the most in a week!

I do agree that while I really liked the donghua and The Untamed has been SO fun, the original novel and audio drama have been such a treat! And yesssss, from here, we're getting into "no man's land" for me, as the donghua drifted (so I'm told) from the novel and The Untamed in many places...it's going to be fun to listen to and read! :D And thank you so much for the kind words -- Mondays have been a LOT of fun with MDZS for me, too! :)

2022-03-09 19:42:14 The Second Siege at the Burial Mounds and the blood corpses Wen Remnants always make me cry. It’s probably one of my all-time favorite scenes of the novel. In these two eps, between Yanli’s death and the Wen Remnants as blood corpses, it was just a constant stream of tearssss. It always pains me to see/hear/read about Yanli’s death; it’s absolutely devastating, especially for both Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng. She was the glue holding them together, and we all know how deeply they both cared about her. Not to go on a side-bar tangent on Jiang Cheng, but I feel like no one really talks about what Yanli’s death means for him, esp. since we are only seeing things through WWX’s pov. Jiang Cheng just lost his only family left from the aftermath of the Sunshot Campaign. Jiang Cheng was the real loser in the end, he has no one left. Yes, you can argue that he still has Jin Ling and his disciples, but Jin Ling will always be a Jin first and a Jiang second. Jiang Cheng is really all alone. No one really takes notice of how much he’s actually lost just because of his prickly personality. (Ok, side-bar over, I just want ppl to know JC needs love too.) Anyways, it always breaks my heart when we get the blood corpses reveal, especially when Wen Ning finally recognizes who they are. It’s so upsetting how disgusting and disrespectful the cultivators were to 1) kill the Wen Remnants knowing fully well it was only the weak and old & 2) just toss their dead bodies into the blood pool so heartlessly. Like, you would think some of them would have a sense of morality and open their eyes, but nooooo. Wen = evil, must kill no matter what. It’s just so sad that they were/are so blinded by mob-mentality. Also, Nie Huaisang!!!! FANNING THE FLAMES!!!! Always interjecting very sound logic in his comments one second then acting like the useless Headshaker in the next. He has everyone fooled. I love him, my manipulative king. The next few eps are going to be so good. I can’t believe we’re almost at the end! I don’t want the journey to end, but it’s a good thing there’s more MXTX things for you to enjoy!!! Did you hear that they recently announced that Heaven Official’s Blessing will also get an audio drama? Maybe by the time you start it, you’ll have more content to enjoy + the live action drama will hopefully release soon! With that said, I look forward to the next reaction!

The death of the Wen’s and the second burial siege is SO sad — Ning just “grasping” for them and finding out they just tossed Yuan’s granny’s corpse into the blood pool?! How awful! It is so tragic and sad, and it’s no wonder Ning and WuXian have such a visceral reaction to it. I’m glad you brought up Cheng because I have definitely felt badly for him for the reasons you state; even with WuXian “returns,” he’s with Wangji, so again, Cheng is alone. :( I have always liked Cheng as a character for how complicated he is; it’s just so darn tragic that he’s by himself throughout most of this story. And to witness his family die? Soooooo sad! :( Speaking of complicated, HUAISANG! Such a mastermind, and it’s so much fun going through this series, knowing what’s to come (somewhat) that makes the crumbles leading up to the reveal so sweet. And yes! I’m sad that MDZS is nearly finally to its end, but I’ve been excited for HOB for a LONG time, now! And OH! Exciting!! I hope that by the time I’ve finished the donghua, that the audio drama and/or live action will be out! :) That will be fun! Thanks so much for the kind words and comment! :D

Badass Lan Qiren, I was waiting for it! It's so amazing we're told directly he's a swordsman and a swords teacher to the Jades. Granny Wen's bubbling sound was so... creepy... Sleeping Together is just unbelievably funny. Poor Lan Zhan XD And crickets are just like that sound effect where everyone in the scene goes "......."

The Granny Wen "bubbling" is VERY creepy! And knowing that Qiren taught the boys swordsmanship...I love it! The Sleeping Together extra is just TOO CUTE! WuXian tossing out the pillow gets me EVERY TIME. :D
