In this part, I read Chapters 72-73, covering the infamous banquet hall scene and the tragedy of Wen Ning's death! T_T I also look at the extra: Youngmeng Youths!

Our Ning is dead, WuXian's defected, Cheng is hurt, and lines have clearly been drawn...and all Wangji wants to do is hide WuXian away in the Cloud Recesses. I am FEELING for our characters, as things slowly creep towards the two deaths I've been dreading the most in the novel...I'm still not ready.

Thank you for listening and reading with me and for all the support!

Ah…pain…no matter how many times I go through the different adaptations, this part of the past always hurts… along with every character death (except Daddy Jin’s and Su She’s😤)

Seriously, I didn't feel bad that when Daddy Jin died in the donghua (but not there in the novel or Untamed yet, hahaha), And Su She...I forget his death, hahahahaha -- seems legit, but I'll be there soon in the novel and The Untamed, hahaha! :D

OMG that extra was too much of a foreshadowing. Why did they do it to us at that exact moment?! Wuxian you little troll... And stealing chickens. I never knew that was a thing he actually did omg. Hopefully someone did pay for the damage XD Also the song. I forgot about that! It's packing even more emotions and good lines than Wangxian itself, ohh. When JC comes to Burial Mounds, Wei Ying's tone is so light and nonchalant, like nothing ever happened, he just moved houses and will be visiting every Sunday. I actually think this is another sign of him covering his own doubts. Judging by the whole dialog, Wei Ying definitely realizes he will be the enemy for everyone who wants some target practice, this can't last forever, but what else can he do, change his decision? It's not what a gentleman can do. When JC offers him to give Wens away, that's, ugh... I understand him being distraught and willing to return the good days, but that offer was honestly unsightly. What else can he do? Well duh, stay on your brother's side and appeal to rules and regulations and damn Lans are right there, will they condemn you as well? Will anyone be willing to attack Yunmeng Jiang on account of a few Wens? Because of ideas like this, I'm not really keen on idea of brothers reconciliation at the end of the novel. Too different ways, too different approaches and noone is willing to budge. If Jiang Cheng does something stupid again, like torturing people or ignoring their pleas, what will postcanon Wei Ying do? Too many differences.

Poor farmer-kun and his ransacked chicken house -- I just imagine Fengmian showing up a day or two later to repay him for the chickens. How embarrassing! XD And the sooonnnng, I really like it coming out in this! :) And that makes so much sense that WuXian is covering his own doubt about all of this...and yeah, he knows what's coming, but what CAN he do in his condition? And he can't tell Cheng about it, so... *sigh* And that's a sad, but interesting take on the brothers at the end...yeah...it's so sad that WuXian doesn't see any option as viable (and there's not a lot that are...if only he really knew what Wangji meant by wanting him to come to Gusu), but yeah, the differences with him and Cheng are definitely apparent in this...I'll be curious to talk more about Cheng when I get to the end of the novel FOR SURE! Thanks so much for the comment and for the insights! :D

I love your discussion of the novel this week so much! MXTX can definitely write! Those people in the banquet who recognized Mianmian were apparently in the cave as well when Lingjiao tried to brand her. Yet none of them had the courage to stand up for her against the truly evil Wens. Now these assholes suddenly are the most vociferous ones to publicly shame Wuxian who protected Mianmian in the cave. So ironic and frustrating. And yes! The new ED for audio drama S3 is just so goood! The lyrics is basically a recap of the entire MDZS story. I like it so much. The audio drama producer and the same composer did a fan song of all the important characters in MDZS way back before the story was adapted into any other versions. It was equally impressive. Oh, thank you so much!!! MXTX is so crafty and awesome with this story -- especially how it's weaved in and out of the past and present; I love how she's created this intricate web and we're seeing it all come together! :) That's a great point that the people in the cave weren't brave enough to defend her then, but now are so bold to slander her, since there's no threat to them -- shameful, indeed! It's so frustrating, but at least MianMian doesn't let that stop her and LWJ stands up for her in the end, too! Which is funny, since he was most worried -- it seemed -- about WuXian being attracted to her, and yet he's the one that helps her! I LOVE this new ED! It's so great and so different audibly than what we've had so far -- I'm definitely impressed. Oohhh, and thank you for that link! :D I cannot WAIT to get into Season 3 of this audio dramaaaa! :)
