some thought that came just now listening to this, and what better place to write this down than a comment section? hehe. When you talked about your theory about Eren being a possible antagonist or something, it made me think. That in many cases, Eren has talked about how his motivation is to fight the titans be free. But has he ever said anything about humanity? or wanting to help humanity? It's very possible that I might have forgotten a moment where he has said smt about wanting to save humanity, but all I can ever remember is that everyone else talks about saving humanity, BUT Eren has only talked about his desire to kill titan and avenge his family. just had to write this down before I forget it. :))

Ahhh, that's an interesting point to bring up -- I always assumed Eren included helping humanity in his resolve to kill the titans; I can't remember a specific point he said he was doing it to "save humanity," but when he calls Reiner and Bertholdt out for being the "worst of the worst," and we get the montage of the titans wrecking not only his home, but Shiganshina, I assumed he included what they'd done to everyone else, too. That, and back in Episode 2 of season one, Eren on the boat with the refugees can see all the atrocities the titans have caused the people, so I assumed his resolve included killing the titans not just to satisfy his own need for vengeance, but to avenge others who have lost family as well. But I'm assuming...I'd have to re-watch to see if Eren ACTUALLY mentions saving humanity in his dialogue. Hmm.

yeah, I always assumed that he involved humanity in it too, BUT watching this and hearing you talk about your theories about how eren might not end up being the good guy and how he just does his own thing. Even IF he did involve humanity in it, would Eren choose humanity or his revenge? I have no idea, (I'm not caught up with the anime yet so don't worry I'm not spoiling you by saying that I haven't gotten an answer to smt yet) :)

For some reason, I never really thought of the overarching narrative structure across seasons and how end of S2 could mark a half way point where characters now have resolve and hope as a way to predict future plot points. I only ever focused on the arcs within each season or the individual character arcs. Thank you for the reminder from english class to view the macro level narrative structure for this long running series~ your english teacher-ness really came out with the white board. 🤣 Awesome. I wonder if people will study AOT in literature classes like they do other common english literary works in the future. E12 being 4th feels weird though because it has my favorite scene in all of AOT, but I agree with your reasoning for the most part with your episode rankings. But I would personally put S1E21 and E22 above S2E9 for the top 10 so far. So hard to rank! An end of series full ranking of episodes would be fun when the series ends. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on S3 and on the OP/ED! S3P1 OP is my favorite OP.

Whether Eren would choose someone else's goals over his own...THAT is an interesting question and it's one I'm hoping Isayama explores in season three! It's also nice to know that someone else is going in blind along with me into season three! :D :D

Hahahaha, Ahhh, put me in front of a white board, and the English teacher in me starts to surface, like Bertholdt over the wall. ^^ Yeah, I'll go ahead and say that re-watching, Episode 12 of this season has already risen past Episode 10 of this season, and I can totally agree with you about episodes 21/22 over Episode 9. Ranking the episodes are HARD - I change my mind so much in hindsight over it. Thanks for the kind words and comment! Oooh, I am also really excited to talk about the new OP/ED for Season 3!

Bertholdt could transform into the colossal after being injured as seen in episode 6 after being slashed in the throat, so that wasn't an issue. I'm pretty sure he actually couldn't change because he had already become the titan earlier that day. Becoming a titan that large has to take a lot out of you, and I doubt it would be easy to do again so soon.

Oh WOW, you're right! *facepalm* How could I forget the "nightmare fuel" version of him in Warrior? That makes sense, though, if it would take too much out of him transforming to do more than once a day. Even in Colossal form, it doesn't look like he stays that way for "too" long. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

Wow. There’s so much I don’t know what to comment on specifically. I’ll just say that I am sometimes amazed at the lengths you go to to give us awesome and entertaining content. I’m glad your enjoying the show enough to actually have 3 hours of substantive commentary on it 😊. It was a fun watch. And I don’t think anyone would judge your for your ranking. I never thought to really rank episodes. And your character rankings really pointed out aspects of the characters that I failed to appreciate at first watch. Hannes really did do a lot for our main characters, and he didn’t die in vein. And the way Bertolt got so much ore emotional after all the facts came out really touched me more the second time watching this. I’ve rarely listened to character songs either. And those were somewhat interesting. Levi’s VA is also Ranpo from BSD and that’s who I heard with his song XD The variety of differ to voices he can do is amazing! But Levi is probably my favorite of his roles. Also love anything that Jean/Chuuya’s VA sings. I think his song was probably my favorite too. And where season 3 is going to go absolutely impossible to predict from the end of season 2. As I’m sure you can tell by now. Makes it exciting! Happy viewing!

Next to Banana Fish, this is becoming one of my favorite anime -- just for the sheer DEPTH of the characters, the story, etc. And you are so right -- I had NO IDEA where Season 3 would pick up from season 2, and it's been a SHOCKER for sure! Levi's VA being Ranpo throws me for a loop every time! It's like the fact that Eren's is Todoroki from MHA...but yesss, I really like Jean's song; probably doesn't hurt that his VA does a lot of OP's for series, either. ;)

I have watched a lot of anime and I have a very short list that I’ve ranked as 10/10. Banana Fish and AOT season 3 are two of them. I couldn’t agree more.
