UHM...this may be my favorite episode of the ENTIRE SERIES so far.

You can tell that this episode likely skipped or compacted a LOT from the novel. I definitely realize there's probably a lot of novel readers that aren't happy about it, but this donghua-only girl thought this episode was so concise and AMAZING! So many twists, turns, and HOLDING HANDS WANGXIAN DLJDKLSFJDKLFJDKDJFDKFDKF....*brain fizzles*

At least I still have the novel, manhua, and audio drama I can go back to after this season is over! ^^ In the meantime, I'm going to continue to weep for XingChen, Song, Jing, and Yang in this. MAN...what parallels to our WangXian duo, eh?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I haven't even watched the reaction yet, but the thumbnail alone tells me what I'm in for! Seeing it in the live-action destroyed me so I am 100% prepared to be devastated when I see your reaction. Definitely coming back to the comments after I watch it (and after my English 101 class haha). And as always Xue Yang is looking *chefs kiss*

This episode was SO GOOD -- I cannot wait to see how The Untamed expands upon it! :D And as a teacher, I'm glad you're going to ENG 101 first, ahahaha!! ^^ Thanks so much for the kind words and yes, Yang was top tier in terms of voice acting and animation this episode!

Just finished watching it and all I can say is !!!!!. Much was left out but what they out in was amazing nonetheless. You're correct when you say there are some mmm sketchy and creepy things about Xue but I mean hey...he's pretty and charismatic so yeahh. <.< I feel like Xue Yang definitely loved Xiao X and maybe XX at some point caught feelings for the "funny stranger that sounds awfully like my sworn enemy". It might have worked out if Yang wasn't 100% bat-sh**-insane sometimes.

This episode was amazing, the animation and directing were next level! I felt like this arc could have benefit from having a bit more breathing room to really let the emotional bits sink in and let us get more attached to the characters but the time constraints being what they are I feel that the donghua team definitely made the most of what they had to work with, no second was wasted and it was masterful. I was just waiting for you to realize the truth about the "corpses" that were getting killed, so glad the rewatch made things clearer! That moment Xingchen realized he's basically been going around murdering innocent people for 2 years, killing who knows how many, and then Xue Yang revealing, like it's all some grand finale to a show he's orchestrated, that he's just killed his best friend 😭. Xue Yang just completely destroyed Xingchen, and he didn't even seem to realize it until Xingchen committed suicide. I've been listening to the audio drama for the first time along with you and I can't wait to see how the Yi City arc goes! Mo Dao Zu Shi is killing me with anticipation, the excitement I feel when a new episode is available and then the frustration after watching and having to wait another week is ridiculous!

Sizhui is the best boy. A true wangxian son — a wild mix of Wangji’s discipline and Wuxian’s kindness. I’m so glad we’re getting more scenes of him here and there. In the story he plays far bigger role than you can imagine. Fans speculate a lot about Song and Yang’s true feelings toward Xingcheng, but the fact remains that both of them valued Xiao and wanted to be with him — platonically or romantically. Also, I don’t think Xue Yang was trying to forse Xingchen to stay and heal him. It was initially Xiao’s kind nature that made him help a person in danger. Remember how Yang glared at both A-Qing and Xingchen the first time he was awake. He didn’t want their help, and stayed only to entertain himself (by deceiving Xingchen and make fun of A-Qing). But then, yeah, just like you said, he genuinely started to like Xiao, even though he continued to make him kill the innocent people during the night-hunts. I believe it’s time for me to restart my marathon on fix-it XueXiao fics, where they reconcile and help each other recover from mental trauma… :( Thank you for reaction.

There is not much to say about this episode from me... I think it's already laid out very exquisitely, even if pretty rushed. Too much reveals for one minute! Too little softness but then it just cuts deeper! Xue Yang is definitely understandable even if not likable for me, and Song Lan+Xiao Xingchen story... too much of a parallel with Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng, isn't it? Sacrificing everything for each other and still estranged. Maybe one day Jiang Cheng will also be able to tell "I'm sorry, that wasn't your fault". I'm so glad you didn't feel as if something was missing or not explained. Of course novel expands very much but the animators did a great job of condensing the story, truly. Does it remind you of Dark Era in Bungo, maybe? And yes, Untamed gives you another approach to the story and I love it as well. Wangxian are so powerful in this, and Lan Zhan goes absolutely feral in defense and soft in support. One small gesture with an umbrella, and Wei Ying is back from his misery! All of his torture, all the people blaming him, and it takes only a silent movement from Lan Zhan to feel loved again... Ah, that's one of the reasons I can't let go of them. Love that can heal your wounds is the best kind. Observe and learn, Xue Yang. Sizhui is of course the best boy. And let's hope Jin Ling will turn out more emotionally mature at the end of the series! After all this adventure and different people telling him things.

"Funny stranger that sounds awfully like my sworn enemy" -- I laughed pretty hard at that! Yeah, what a love triangle, eh?! I am DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing what was left out when I get back into the novel and audio drama, but this was sooooo good!

Yessssss!!! This episode was SO PACKED with content and gorgeous animation and music -- I'm glad I went back to see that yeah, XX was basically killing people for 2 years for Yang...and didn't even realize it! @_@ And then the moment Yang gloated that XingChen killed his best friend?! Insanity...I honestly cannot WAIT to see what all extra there is in the source material that didn't have time to get expanded upon here. I agree -- the audio drama for this will surely be really, really good! And yes!! I watch an episode and then realize I have to wait a week! It's frustrating, but at least it's making me savor the episodes bit by bit, since it's the last season. :3

He really is a good combination of the two! :3 I really cannot wait to see what his character has in store!! :D And that's a good point about both Yang and Song -- it's weird...from this episode, I definitely see Yang more as the romantic attraction, but then he does those cruel things to him... so....and then you have Song, who'd I say is Platonic, but then is scouring the earth exorcising in his memory, so. **SIGH** They both love him, eh? Can we go with that? He's a popular dude. ^^ Oh, and yeah, I think a healthy dose of fanfiction with those two might be needed...SO much trauma, there. Those candies, darn it! T_T

I really liked how the characters of Yang, Song, and XingChen all had parallel comparisons to WuXian, Wangji, and Cheng -- I agree, I want Cheng to end up happy and to reconcile with WuXian! T-T I felt that the animators did an expert job condensing what is likely a LOT of exposition into a very tight episode that you could follow, and honestly, it just has me more excited to see this story expanded upon in the other versions! YES! A lot of relation to the Dark Era in BSD! Indeed! I love how WuXian can get thrown into despair and Wangji just pulls him right back out! That umbrella scene was swoonworthy! Yeah, Yang should have taken a page from the WangXian handbook! I really hope Ling gets some of his mother and uncle's good nature...poor boy has been around Cheng too long! Hahaha, at least Wangji has been a good role model for his disciples!! :D
