I was SO sad that the audio got messed up in the first and last parts of this -- I think it was with the BlueTooth headphones and my new computer. NOTES TAKEN for the future, so I apologize for that.

However, these set of chapters were SO good, and they have me so hyped to see what is to come with our cultivation detective duo and all the mystery surrounding the feral arm! I can't wait for Season 3 of the donghua to premiere!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Anastasia -

Oh we're definitely supposed to think Jiang Cheng is there to torture and kill him in revenge. Our poor and complex angry grape, torn apart by so many emotions he's kept pent up for 13 years. It's also so sad to think that he didn't get any dogs in Lotus Pier again! Even if Wei Ying was no longer there! Partly in fear to lean into sentiment or sadness, partly in hope or out of habit... and he wasn't even the one to gift Fairy to Jin Ling! I WAS ONLY GONE FOR A FEW HOURS. A whole eternity of pain and frustration in just a few words. And Lan Zhan looking down with slightly red eyes... he probably already thought Wei Ying decided to escape him again, after all the times he tried. Or that something happened and he lost Wei Ying again. Of course he lost patience for games and pretense. Of course he uses every smallest opportunity to take advantage, to use Wei Ying's words in a clever way and do something sweet! Just like Wei Ying used to twist Gusu rules and find loopholes. And Wei Ying doesn't even understand at this point that he's being subtly teased! Huaisang was probably SO BAFFLED. Like, wtf, I'm only here to tell my story reluctantly, what is that PDA in front of me?! And from Hanguang-jun of all people?! The japanese audiodrama made it even more hilarious: him stuttering "H-Hanguang-jun... and you, the man he carried bridal style... listen to me". Oh, and live action, too. They wanted to make Lan Zhan carry him like this but the actor just wasn't physically able to, so it turned into a kind-of piggyback ride supported by wires, and Wei Ying's actor was trying to hide his laugh on the way XD Yes, they are both a true match for their roles, but "Lan Zhan" is just younger, smaller and lighter, what else could he do! I just remembered that Wei Ying instantly fell into professional love with Nie saber coffins XD Patting the coffin and exclaiming, what a good job! One of the moments where we remember he's so used to dealing with corpses and graveyeards. "Don't forget me, daozhang". Full-body shivers for me. I don't even love this inserted story very much! But it's impossible to forget the details anyway. Did you notice how Wei Ying is okay with whatever accusations Jiang Cheng throws his way but demands "watch your words" when Jiang Cheng turns to badmouthing Lan Zhan? Typical. Not only for Lan Zhan, yes, he's ready to protect whoever but this... yeah. The carrying scene happens in Xuanwu cave where Lan Zhan is so injured he can't walk (previously he rejected the suggestion but then the turtle munches on the same leg and he has no choice). Sadly no other interpretation but manhua gave us that visual! Also, Wei Ying's bad memory is not only an important plot point and catalyzer but relates to his whole character arc on the more basic grounds, you will see some lines related to it later. The whole lot of traumas and PTSD and resentful energy could have affected him this way as well. Maybe. It's never referred to this way but is a popular point of view. Huaisang is really commendable for trying to pave his own way in life. After all, his sect never fell into oblivion even if he's regarded as Good-for-Nothing. Mingjue's sworn brothers helped a lot, of course, but still. Oh, did I tell you that the kind of brotherhood they chose leads to Huaisang being accepted into "family" as well? That's why Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao would be obligated to help even if they were not such nice and caring people. Huaisang calls those two "er-ge" and "san-ge", second and third older brothers, which complicates the whole timeline once again: we can't even figure out who is older, Jin Guangyao or Nie Huaisang! Does he use "ge" because he's younger? Because his brother was the eldest one and they are by connection "social elders" to him? IDK! (BTW it does make Lan Xichen one of Jin Ling's uncles in a way XD Everyone is Jin Ling's uncle!!) I'm so ready to get into re-reading as well! Just today I got 3rd and 4th tomes of Japanese edition (gorgeous) and still waiting for 1st and 2nd. Once they are here, I'm launching into four-lingual journey all over again XD And the 3rd season, of course. Probably will purchase paid subscription on Youtube since I'd go mad from all the visual spoilers otherwise, but will wait patiently for you and try not to tell you anything extra!

Cheng is such a complex character! I feel so bad for him; all that anger and resentment masking his pain, I'm sure, at losing basically everything around him except Baby Ling. :3 And I love that Ling has SO many uncles, hahaha, but still...I just want things to end well for Cheng by the end of the series. Angsty Grape, indeed! And the clear AFFECTION radiating off of Wangji this set of chapters! It's all out in the open now that he knows it's Wei Ying, which means he can dote without hesitation, now! That look, him being so sad that everything happened to WuXian in a matter of hours, and then the bridal style carrying through town?! My heart was so happy reading these chapters! I love the donghua, but I'm so sad it didn't go this route showing all of these scenes...they're SO good! And HuaiSang became SO much more interesting after reading this novel. I feel sympathy for him, too, in wanting to not suffer the same fate as his family members, and choosing to go down as a "coward" and "good for nothing" than die a painful death. It's a self-serving choice, but I don't blame him for making it...now to see how his role connects with Yao, XiChen, and everything else, right?! I'm jealous you have the Japanese editions of the novel! I've seen them online and they look so beautiful! I wish there'd be similar released as an English translation officially. *sighs* Ah well, I'm SO excited for the third season, and then to pick the novel back up and see what was left out! :D Thank you for the comment!
