The national qualifiers are underway! Coach Chiba and the coach for Aikawa are hilarious, as are these games so far! This has been one of the funnier set of episodes in the series at this point -- but that may change, as a very serious, very proud pitcher is entering the competition!

And with a lot riding on the line for our Seidou boys, it's looking to be an interesting matchup! I'm pretty excited to see how it's going to go down!

I liked that line about the first years not knowing "the value of a single pitch" and then we see what Shunshin is thinking about when he throws and how much consideration he puts into each one. Furuya's heat exhaustion is a real problem that I didn't take too seriously until it was pointed out because like you said, it's always been a thing from the very first episode but it was treated lightly and even comedic at times but now his lack of stamina is suddenly very important. I grew up in the northwest and then had to move to south georgia so I can totally understand what Furuya must be feeling, the heat and humidity just sucked away my will to live for a good 4 months at least haha. Another neat little detail is that the reporter we focused on who's interested in Seido is the one who published the article on Miyuki last year. Little did he know that his article influenced Furuya and to a lesser extent Sawamura to come to Seido. I thought that was a nice tie in instead of having just some random reporter. So excited for the next set of episodes!

2021-10-19 03:28:03 These episodes do a great job and showing us what are the main problems our tram will be facing once they play the more experienced teams. Looks like Furuya & Sawamura will finally understand why stamina and control are so important for pitchers. Plus, such a fun batch of episodes before we get to the more intense matches. Can’t wait until next week! Shun is such a great character 💕

Yessss, Shunshin is such a great addition to this story! A competent pitcher who's not over-the-top, but cool and calculating! And yeah, I didn't think ANYTHING about the heat exhaustion until now! #datforeshadowing I was outside all day yesterday and had a headache today from it -- so I can't imagine what these characters practicing all the time in the heat would feel like! I can relate; humidity is the WORST. And that's such a good tie-in to the reporter's importance! She's basically the catalyst for this whole show! XD Thanks for the kind words -- I'm excited, too!!

Yesssss, I like that we're getting foreshadowing of what could be an issue later on and that the team is self-aware! And yesss, that lesson learned in real time was so well done this set of episodes! I'm soooo ready to get into Shun's character, though! :D

I know what you mean about "you know" and "like". My English teacher in high school made a lot of effort to drill it out of us, but it still crops up occasionally when I speak faster than I think. :-D I must say, when I first watched DnA, I missed that the band was playing the opening! But I do love the walk-on songs for the batters. Each one is unique to the batter (and we get Miyuki singing a line of his)! So we see the traditional under-dog story reversed twice in this set. Even though Seido is "our" team, I still feel bad for their opponents, especially Maimon. They did everything they could, but really didn't stand a chance. It must be really disheartening to not just lose, but for Seido to achieve called-games. But maybe that's better than the rout of a full game. I'm still trying to remain neutral, but I can't say much positive about Furuya at this point. I think it's because he's being favored in subtle ways despite his weaknesses. He has an excellent throwing arm, yes, but it's masking - to me - a lack of willingness to grow. He's still only throwing his fastball, despite how easily Osaka Kiryu dealt with them (in contrast to Sawamura, who seems to evolve every time he's on the mound). I'll probably just withhold my thoughts about him going forward unless the situation demands it. I'll symathize with him on the weather, though - I've lived in the South my entire life and I'm not used to it; I can't imagine moving here from a temperate climate. Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next episodes and Akikawa. One not-spoiler warning, if you're not wanting to react to recap episodes, episode 28 is one.

I am very guilty for saying "like" -- I notice it when editing these reactions, and I try to make a conscious effort to stop it. Ahhh, the English language, right? Really? Miyuki singing a line of his song?! That's awesome! It's so neat to me to see the perspective change and for us to be rooting for the prestigious team! Yeah, I felt for Maimon, too. And YES! I was trying to put my finger on it, but that's what irks me too about this set of episodes -- Furuya isn't developing his pitches. I'm still not 100% sure why he seems to get more favor unless 1. It's because his pitch is more readily available and ready to go at the moment, and 2. Miyuki has realized that Furuya does better with praise, so he's going to give it to him to draw out his potential since that's the "catcher's job." But I agree, it's too soon for me too to place judgment on Furuya just yet. But agreed; it's been humid and nasty hot where I'm from since I was a kid, and I'm still not used to it. Thank you for the kind words and info, too! I'll probably just watch episode 28 on my own and then pick up with Episode 29 when I get to it. :)
