Something I forgot to inform you about last week, there is a short fan movie that takes play, I think, 2 years after this. So if you finish the last episode maybe you want to react to that too. Here's the link but it doesn't have subs. https://youtu.be/akXuzOlLkCE It's so sad that we maybe never will find out the rest of the story. We can only hope that a studio will take the rest over. Mitsue is really interesting. Even though she has a really negative view I liked her from the start. Maki is so open minded, observant and smart. Sometimes I can't believe he is a middle schooler. XD Sadly he has to be so observant because of his situation. I find it so nice that they bring little elements in it, like the gender norm, that are so common in real life but are actually pretty bad and try to break that. I saw people talking about the scene between Maki and Yuu and that's how I started watching the series and I'm so glad I did. It's an amazing show with really interesting and realistic characters and plot. I really like that they didn't make the characters stand, sit or run all the same but made them fitting for the character. It's so wonderful when a show does that. The council president is slaying the dance. XD Wish you a wonderful day!!

Thank you so much! I've saved that link in my "watch later" so I can watch it at the end of the series! :) It is sad that this show was cut short, because I'm finding it so fascinating already -- hopefully, they're able to do more with it in the future. Yes, Mitsue is compelling, even with her being negative as she is. I'm so curious about where here character will go in this series! And Maki....ahhh, you know he has to be observant, but he is also really ahead of his time; yes! It's hard to believe he's in middle school, but (sadly) he's had to grow up earlier than others and see the realities of the world. :( I like that this show, too, is bringing up gender norms -- like you said -- and also showing each character individually. In some sports anime, when they run or move, it's uniform, but they took time to animate everyone differently (reminding me of Run with the Wind), and I really appreciate that! ^^ And yes, that council president proving why she won the election! XD Thank you for the comment and kind words! I hope you have a great day, too!

Maki's may not have been in a sports team before, but he has been running up and down stairs in his daily life. I get the feeling that Maki is a bit "controlling" in the things he does - he cooks, he cleans etc. We see him controlling" the team, organizing it, focusing their practice, finding a manager, etc. It's like he is trying to find "control" in his life, when he really has very little control in regards to his father and how he is treated by him. Maybe if he is in control in his life he feels less anxious. Does this make sense? Maki is very observant of people and his surroundings, like you said its part of how he lives. He has to read people (his father's) expression to read the situations he is in.

Oh wow, I hadn't been able to articulate the "control" issue with Maki, but you NAILED it. That makes so much sense, given how unstable his home life is, that he tries to find control somewhere -- verrry good point! I've already recorded episode 3, but I'm DEFINITELY going to make mention of your point in Episode 4, because I really like that angle -- that explains a lot with Maki! It makes me sad, because Maki is so smart and takes notice of so many things, but he has to be an adult alongside his mother, and has to deal with his father who is clearly abusive and causing trouble for his mother and him. :(

I saw you’re reacting to this and I thought oh what is this show about - I’ve started it and oh my God. Firstly, Maki ❤️ my heart and soul. The tone of this show is so… interesting. I like the dynamics in all the “main” relationships we’ve seen so far and I liked how Maki seemed to blend right in - of course, as others have mentioned it has to do with the whole concept of keeping the external in control whilst there is internal chaos, which very accurately applies to our protagonist here. As you say, this is a very different sports anime and it steers clear of the usual tropes. Unfortunately, I found out earlier today that the creator announced in April that they’re still unable to get a studio interested to continue (as you mention at the start) which is really sad. Hopefully they get the opportunity to do so soon! I’m currently on Episode 7 and I’m looking forward to each reaction but this anime has something special and different about it and I’m so glad that I found out about it thanks to you posting it haha. I’ve only started supporting you via Patreon 2 days ago so didn’t know about the initial poll - have watched you on YouTube for a few months. Anyways, sorry for the blabbering haha - I’ve been forced by the Funimation iOS app to watch it in English dub (as for some reason it plays in Japanese on my phone and it Chromecasts it in English???) and I would say that both the sub and the dub are great which I’ve found quite rare. So if you like it enough I’m sure you’ll enjoy rewatching it in Dub, too

Thank you so much for the comment -- yeah, I am really liking how complex Maki is as a character so far! I am sad that it's not being renewed yet, but hopefully it will one day -- this anime is already proving to be different than a typical sports anime and I really like that about it! I'm going to be excited getting into the series more this summer! And thank you SO much for the support! I really appreciate that on here! I haven't watched the dub yet, but I may have to check it out! :D
