Note: Since watching Episode 2, I know this is taking place in middle school and not high school. ^^

I have not watched a show that's had SUCH a huge tonal shift in a while! This is already shaping up to be not-your-typical-Sports Anime and I am ALL HERE FOR IT. I'm just not sure if I'm emotionally prepared.

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

It's not your typcial sports anime. Like RWTW it's heavier on the slice of life elements with sports being the thing that ties all the character together. It is an emotional roller coaster with the heavy topics that if covers. Topics that need to be talked about in society in general, but I think in Japan these topics don't get talked about much at all.

AGREED! I love that this series is willing to take a bolder stance and "go there" talking about real issues like this -- that last few minutes were heart-breaking. It definitely was a slap to the face that this wasn't going to be our "typical" sports anime, and I'm very interested in seeing what all it covers!

Not me being a BIG Hoshiai no sora and Akatsuki no Yona fan. I won. XD My comments will probably be a bit longer when it comes to Hoshiai no sora since there is a lot to talk about. I really like that it focuses more on these heavier themes especially since it's something that needs to be talked about more. I started Hoshiai no Sora because I saw an edit about a scene from the second episode and it looked interesting, so I started it and I did not expect this at all. I was so shocked. Maki is one of my favourite main characters. The way he acts is so different from other mc's that I've seen so far. I guess it's because he sadly has to be so mature with the circumstances he is in. They showed us that Maki and Touma both have a big family problem but I like how different the atmosphere in the houses are. One seems rather cheerfull while the other one is so quiet and lonely. All the little things troughout this episode hinting a little bit at the end and it makes so much sense. I'm ready to throw hands at this scum again. Here's the seiyuu list. XD This show has a lot of my favourites in it. Maki is voiced by Hanae Natsuki, who voices Tanjirou from Demon Slayer and the little Kominato from Diamond no ace. Touma is voiced by , the seiyuu of Reki from Sk8, Hatanaka Tasuku. The classmate of them is voiced by Yamaya Yoshitaka who voiced Junpei from Jujutsu kaisen. The teacher is voiced by Sakurai Takahiro who voiced Francis from BSD and Miyuki from Diamond no ace. I'm not sure if we got all the names of the club members so if you don't want to look at them yet you can just ignore the next ones. Itsuki is voiced by Matsuoka Yoshitsugu who voices Shizuru from free and Inosuke from Demon Slayer. Tsubasa is voiced by Toyonaga Toshiyuki who voiced Asahi from free, Yuuri from Yuri on Ice and Haiji from Kazetsuyo. Takuto has the same seiyuu as Shorter from Banana fish and Kindaichi from Haikyuu, Furukawa Makoto. That should've been the most important for now. I hope you don't mind when I do these lists since they can be pretty long sometimes. Wish you a wonderful day!!

So excited for Yona! But I'm also not unhappy to watch stars align again with you😊 I loved most of this show but like you mentioned the way the series had to end was kinda...haha. And YES I was caught completely off guard by the last couple minutes of ep 1, my face was basically the same as yours, just sheer "the hell am I seeing right now?!" The tone shift really put everything we've learned about Maki so far into context. He's so focused on money because he really NEEDS it, not just as a kid wanting to buy things or have pocket change or even as a more mature kid wanting to help his mom make ends meet, but because we have this asshole hunting them down and stealing what little extra they manage to save up. Looking forward to your reactions to this show, it's definitely not a typical sports shounen, it's more like a drama/slice of life about kids who just happen to play sports, lol.

I'm not looking forward to the ending, because I know it'll be abrupt and I'm already having No. 6 flashback, hahaha, so I'm going to savor it while I can. And the last few minutes just left me in shatters -- it showed us everything we needed to know about Maki and his background in one scene alone. Thank you for the kind words!! It's definitely hitting like a nontraditional sports anime already; not that it's a bad thing, though!

I'm really excited for both of these series; Stars Align should be fun (well, to discuss at least) because of the heavier themes that are going to be focused on. And yessss, both Maki and Toma have a dysfunctional element in their homes, but they are dealing with it in very different ways. I'm curious to see how and if their paths in terms of family dynamics cross in this series. And that father! :( He is scum and I couldn't stand what he did to Maki. :( Thank you for the voice actor information! Miyuki and Fitzgerald are the same VA?! OMG....I am shocked! Thanks for the comment and I'm excited to talk about this series with you all! And thanks for the kind words; I hope you have a great day, too!

Oooohhhh!! I am SO excited -- albeit nervous because of how dark it's gotten already -- to get into this show and see what it's all about! Thanks for the kind words!!

2021-10-19 03:31:05 Oh man this series..I remember when I first watched episode one and I was saying to myself how bored I was until BAM...no one was prepared for that whiplash it seriously was so unexpected for me and a punch in the gut! Ugh I just want Maki to be happy TT.TT he's such a good kid doing all he can for his mom and you really understand why he is the way he is as the story progresses. The tennis matches in this show are also very exciting and fun to watch as well! It was very surprising the topics they choose to address in this series as well. Hope you enjoy this series and its extreme melodrama haha <3

I can't say I was bored watching, but it seemed a pretty normal sports anime...and then, like you said, BAM! That ending! Maki -- I felt for that boy! He's just doing what he can!! And of course, it's middle schoolers, so the melodrama is going to be THERE. I'm ready for it! (I think)...
