Oh, y'all know how I love my angsty shark...and...uhm...this episode did NOT disappoint! 

KyoAni, we know you're flexing with fanservice this episode...and BLESS YOU. 

The animation, the comedy "Rin! You gotta stop taking him out to dinner!" (still cackling at that line), and the Natsuya/Rin interactions I didn't know I needed! This episode was an absolute BLAST and is still setting so much up for this season...show, I'm loving you!

Rin having the Samezuka picture and the lucky charm near his bed. Precious. Rin's morning routine is just wonderful. I didn't knew I needed that. XD I love that the music started when Rin pressed play on his phone. All the people feeling guilty. How many? 5? XD but it is a really realistic thing,it doesn't matter if it is something big or small. People can feel guilty for a lot of things for a long time. I can kinda understand why Hiyori is so protective of Ikuya because it seems like he often over works himself. But Hiyori is also too over protective. The fact that he doesn't let Ikuya speak for himself is something that I don't like at all. I really like the conversation between Makoto and Sousuke. They're both calm characters,in a different way,so it fits them to just catch up over the phone. The damn water in that one scene. I will never get over it. XD It's so gorgeous. I actually never really saw the parallels with Natsuya and Ikuya both being alone. It's really interesting. More NatsuNao crumps. "It was written all over his face that what mattered most to him wasn't here." Nao maybe? XD I'm sorry but I will never shut up about them. XD With free angst we luckily know that it will get an happy end. XD Wish you a wonderful day!!

Knew you'd fan girl over the Rin morning routine. good grief how much of the animation budget did Kyoani spend on just that scene!! Of course the water is always stunning in Free! Hiyori is just am extreme helicopter parent, quite controlling and protective of Ikuya. I think it started with good intentions but has gotten so out of control. But at the same time Ikuya allows him to be overly protective and speak for him. Their relationship is interesting. Lots of good connections and analysis of the plot in this reaction.

Oh, I LOVED this episode's use of fan service and the animation of both Rin's morning routine AND the water when him and Natsuya talked? GORGEOUS! Sooo stunning! Man, Hiyori as a "helicopter parent" is such a good description; I may have to use that in the next reaction I do! But YES, I'm going to comment about this in next week's episode, but Ikuya is...kind of complicit in everything. Verrrrry interesting, indeed! Thanks so much!!

Oh, Natsuya wants to swim for Nao -- and that parallels Sousuke and Rin, hahaha, but YES! That water was GORGEOUS this episode! Speaking of Sousuke, I loved his and Mako's conversation, too! Any screen time they share together is always fun! I agree; I get why Hiyori is maybe protective, but he's a bit OVER protective, definitely! I'm curious to see more with these characters all develop as we get more interactions with all of them! I'm in love with this season and I have a feeling I'm going to love the next episode! ^^ Thank you for the kind words and have a great day, too!

Natsuya is /so/ endearing! I really like when he calls Rin the adulterous type, like just how many guys do you want to swim with, huh??? Of course, Natsuya could never understand since he's so whipped for ... who he wants to swim with again. (Metaphors? In my Free! ??) And ohhh how the plot thickens with Hiyori... coming from America to Japan with Ikuya for college... and his sense of responsibility and watchfulness being emboldened by the elder Kirishima brother tapping him for information. Intrigue abounds!

YES! That "adulterous" line was HILARIOUS! I love how bold but sincere Natsuya is -- I didn't expect to love his character as much as I have and did this episode! And say whaaaaat? Metaphors in Free! Say it isn't so! :P Yessss, the fact that Natsuya is in on all of this adds another layer and Hiyori I feel is going to be that antagonist (like Adam in SK8) that I talk about a lot this season, because I'm fascinated!

Just to clear up: Rin is a great white, and Natsuya is a tiger shark. They’re the only two characters that have sharks as their animal motif.
