It's all building to the climax now, and Oh. My. God. This volume combined the terror and dire straights of Volume 27 with the emotional gut punch of Volume 28 -- only this time we center around our "prodigies" Rukawa...and Sakuragi! How far they've come! And their potential isn't tapped out, yet!

Also, getting backstory on Eiji Sawakita -- a "prodigy" in his own right, but also showing the power of rigorous, consistent training.

Y'all...how do we only have two volumes left? I can't believe it!

Thank you for reading with me and for the support!

Haha, in the last volume you mentioned "imagine Sendoh making an appearance" in the comments. Well, here you go. Ask, and thou shall receive. Also it seems you missed the joke. Sendoh being terrible with names and messing up. He was like "Yeah, there was a guy in middle school I couldn't beat. Kitazawa was his name. Maybe. Not sure," and Rukawa finally realising who Sendoh meant "It's Sawakita, you idiot" lol Rukawa got some great advice from Sendoh. 1 v 1 is just one of the many options. Always going for that made Rukawa predictable. Easy to guard. As Sendoh himself found love for passing and went to a point guard position from top scorer, now Rukawa is realising he was wasting his potential by limiting his options. Of course he can pass. He got basic skills down to a t. Now is the time to shine. I also like that it's not "power of the friendship" or anything. Rukawa is still selfish. He wants to win. He doesn't care much about others. He didn't trust others abilities because he was always better 1 v 1. Now he started using his teammates to score and try win the game in that manner. I ain't good enough 1 v 1? Fine, I'll mix up the approach. Do anything if it brings victory. Sawakita is second year, btw. Same as Sendoh. Sakuragi is yet to shine. He is the newby on the court, but at least he really is becoming a basketball player, more than ever. All I dread now are the mistranslations in final volumes. I know they're there. Cuz I read those scans. Ah well. Can't write them beforehand, cuz that's just straight up spoilers. The final lines of the Slam Dunk are very off. Almost a fanfiction. Understandable, but... Urgh. Whatever. I'll expand on that and the story behind anime ending so short in the last volume, I guess.

I was SO happy to see Sendoh this volume -- it's been so long (chapter-wise) since we've seen him that it's cool to see how Inoue's art style has developed and slightly changed Sendoh's appearance. And OOOOOOOOOH, I thought it was a mistranslation from the scans, hahahaha! Of course! That is hilarious! I did miss the joke, but that is great -- of course, Sawakita. I really liked Sawakita's backstory -- and the lesson that Rukawa is learning; it's not unlike what Sakuragi learned simultaneously in this story; that you can have "options" and being versatile is key to the game. We saw that with Masashi and now we're seeing it fleshed out again. "Do anything if it brings victory" -- I can see that becoming Rukawa's new catch phrase. And that makes sense that Sawakita and Sendoh are the same age! So he's still going to be a threat next year, if he's not in America. Interesting. And I am REALLY hyped with Sakuragi for the next two volumes! And ahhh..you have me tempted to just purchase the last two volumes and read them simultaneous with the scans, so I don't mess anything up or read wrong...hmmm.... In any case, thank you for the comment! It's been such a journey with all of this!

Oh yeah did you know Inoue revealed on his Twitter on January 7, 2021 that Slamdunk will be having a new movie after 26 years since the last film in 1995, still no update on the news about it yet but I'm really hoping they will do the movie about Shohoku vs Sannoh.

I am sooooo intrigued to see what this movie is going to be about! I hope they do Toyotama vs. Shohoku too, if they do nationals! ^^ But Shohoku vs. Sannoh would be AMAZING animated!
