It's back! My Hero Academia returns with Season 5! I'm soooo ready to dive into this season and the antics of our Class 1-A! This episode definitely had some familiar faces and a few surprises!

I'll be watching the episode, catching up with the manga, and doing a non-spoiler discussion and then a spoiler corner for those that don't mind being spoiled from the manga! I'm so excited to talk with you all about it!

I've been waiting for the Hawks-Dabi-Endeavor interaction since season 4 ended, so I'm kinda upset that this episode was mostly a recap. But I'm definitely looking forward to next week!

I wasn’t disappointed by the episode because I expected it since all seasons have started with a recap/filler episode like the swimming contest and journalist ones. However, when they said it was the day after the fight, I was so afraid they were going to cut Endeavor’s confrontation with Dabi but thank god it looks like we’ll get it next episode as a flashback. Hopefully, they do it entirely because it’s so important for future arcs. And I believe it is better that they do it in the next episode than in this one mixed with the filler because I don’t want them to cut what happens too much. I want them to spend at least a whole episode on it. Also, I think I saw a photo of Rumi so she’s definitively showing up. As for Bakugo, I think Kirishima was the only one he wasn’t calling an extra and he was just dragging (literally) Kaminari towards the car so he could start it. 😅😅 I am so glad you are reacting to this because I’ve been loving it and the manga has been breaking my heart every week 💔♥️

I think my mind has blocked out the first episodes of the seasons, haha! But I agree! I was so afraid that they were just going to cut it! I was trying to not show my emotions, but my mind was running wild hoping we got some confirmation it wasn't being cut out, haha! I'm okay with that next episode -- as long as we get to see it! And YAY! I'm so glad she'll hopefully be there! Ahhh, that's hilarious about Kaminari (and probably true) -- the Bakugo/Kirishima friendship is amazing and I was thriving on it this episode! The car part with Kaminari, though? Hilarious! And thank you! I love this series and the manga, too, so I'm so excited to see what they get to this season!

I've had the exact same reaction as you while watching this first episode. Having read the manga, I came prepared for some juicy content and for Hawks, Endeavour, and Dabi; but oh well, next time. Looks like MHA decided upon a rule that every first episode of every new season should be a recap sort of filler. Personally, I'm not a fan of filler, especially because I've read the manga, but at least MHA production guys usually know how to make filler episodes interesting, engaging and not boring. I'm excited about next week's episode when the real deal finally begins. :D

Yessss, I was so ready for that content and season 4 left on a cliffhanger (if you're a manga reader)...my brother just shook his head, like, "You knew how they do the first episode of the season"...I guess it slipped my mind! haha! At LEAST, like you said, they made this a fun episode -- the parts with Mirio and then Bakugo/Kirishima/Kaminari were hilarious! So I can't be made at it...but it REALLY has me excited for next week when everything takes off! :)
