Man, I thought the opening of the matchup between Toyotama was insane, but this volume proves it can get even crazier!

Our Shohoku boys have their work cut out for them! And this is just the first match! There's the ominous Sannou looming over the horizon as well...

Thank you for the support and reading along with me! I hope you all enjoy the reaction!

2021-10-19 03:46:10 Haha, I didn't realize the extent of your shock for the anime abruptly ending)) So that was it for Toyotama. To clarify one thing, gotta talk about Minami. His first elbow to the head was an accident. He just wanted to scare the opponent to back them off, but Fujima was not afraid of flailing arms and got hit. With Fujima hurt badly, Shoyo lost the game. Since then, Minami was nicknamed Ace Killer and has accepted that "you gotta win no matter what" mentality in full. It was all to bring back coach Kitano. Ignore the new guy, keep the "Run & Gun", make it to top 4. Winning was everything. So he tried to pull the elbow on Rukawa as well. It worked, but not fully. Rukawa being the monster just kept playing and scoring, really shoving the question into Minami's face, "was it even worth it? you hurt other players just to win and it still doesn't go your way. what would coach Kitano think of you now?" getting Minami into a slump. So Minami makes up his mind and goes for jumping knee to the head. In the final moment he remembers what coach Kitano always told them and moves his leg away. Funnily enough only Rukawa didn't notice that, everyone else clearly saw Minami going with knee. Sakuragi finally got to show off his normal shooting. Finally a basketball player (who doesn't even know alleyhoop). Next up is Sannoh Tech. The strongest team in Japan who are 120% focused on the game and do not underestimate Shohoku at all. Exciting stuff. On a side note, they lost it in translation (again, the Chinese scans) but Kitano and Anzai used to be on national team together. Ex-top players. I like the gritty stuff with Osaka. Some schools are businesses. Become number 1 in Osaka. Done? Ok, become number 1 in Japan. Done? Ok, keep the top spot. Private schools be like that. Especially in regards to what I told you about Osaka people being greedy for money and things that benefit them. Merchant town for over 5 centuries (more like 10 centuries, actually) molds people in certain ways. Coaches get hired to get results and fired when they fail. Kids are left in the dust not knowing what to do or who to listen to. Is there joy in such games? We saw Toyotama had no joy at all playing for results, under pressure, with cracks between coach and the team. On the other hand, the kids Kitano teaches are having fun. They only learn how to run and shoot, but isn't that the exciting part? And I like Kitano's philosophy. 3 years of highschool is too short to master anything. Defense comes from experience, but if you can't score you can't win. And it is more fun to score. So why not let the kids have fun. And still be the top of prefecture, even top 8 in nationals. That's a very strong team, I'd say))

Oooooh, that makes SO MUCH sense why Kitano and Anzai are walking together at the end of the volume! :) That makes a lot of sense, and that is SO COOL! :) I really like Kitano's character, too! And when you put it in perspective like that, it makes a lot of sense! :) That's really cool, and I agree, why not have fun? You could tell by the end of the match, that Toyotama was not having fun anymore...and man...their coach just losing his cool. I can't say I blame him, but still....I would have LOVED to have seen this match animated! A Slam Dunk remake NEEDS to happen! ^^ Thank you so much for the comment! I'm so excited for Sannou!
