Ahh, yes, the very first thing that shocked me when I was reading the manga (aside from Yuuji dying, ‘cause I honestly thought he wouldn’t come back.) Junpei just drew all the short straws in life, I think. I cried when I saw this animated too. Junpei's cursed technique wasn't given to him, it was brought out of him by Mahito. He already had cursed energy - that's why he was able to see Mahito in the first place. Cursed techniques are something someone is born with. Also, killing Junpei was always part of the plan, in order to make Itadori forge a pact based on his personal feelings. Junpei was never intended to live long enough to infiltrate Jujutsu Tech. Can’t wait for you to see more! Don't stress yourself out worrying about what if's for next episode.

Ohhh, I had this elaborate plan for Junpei infiltrating Tokyo's Jujutsu Tech, and helping Mahito gather artifacts and intel on the JJ sorcerers and then this episode happened and I was just FLOORED. I haven't been stunned by the direction a show took in a while (with the exception of Banana Fish). I haven't read the manga, so I'm very much in the dark week to week with the show, which I'm not complaining about, but it makes for some crazy moments, like with this episode! Thanks for the info on the cursed technique vs energy -- that's taken a while for me to get in this show. But ahhh....SUCH a sad episode! T_T And thank you -- from here, the show just seems to elevate and get even BETTER, which amazes me, as it was already really good. :D

I'm so excited new OP and ED soon! Hope that kinda helps this ep was tragic and so upsetting.

At least there's that to look forward to (although I wouldn't complain if they had kept this ED), but yes, this episode was ROUGH to watch! T_T Junpeeeeeei...

Destiney Marie

I wouldn't mind if they kept the old ED either cause it really helps the mood after eps like these ones.

Right?! This episode it was jarring because we'd suffered so much, but it's such a good song that you can't help but have your mood lifted a "little" regardless!

Never not sad about Junpei. D: My boy! My poor sweet boy. I'm not sure if this is a thing because I haven't read the manga (or more accurately, I'm reading the manga one arc at a time once the show's covered it), but I wonder if Yuuji's existing pact with Sukuna would have prevented him from making one now? He and Mahito don't know about it, and Sukuna's keeping it a secret, so the refusal reads as either not being able to heal Junpei or just being a dick, but maybe there's an element of "We already *have* a pact, sucker." And as I've previously stated, Sukuna is Terrible, but uhhhhhhhhh if I could set my ringtone to him saying "Know your place, fool," I'd be a lot happier to get calls, damn. XD

romaniablack

That's a really good question! The fact that Yuuji isn't aware makes it interesting -- I'm wondering if Sukuna was really just being an ass (probably) and saying, "nope, not healing him," or if part of it too was he didn't want Mahito to know about the pact and if he couldn't heal Junpei anyway, so there was no point in switching out. In any case, this episode was ROUGH. Yep, roughsville. The only silver-lining was Sukuna putting Mahito in his place. At least there was THAT!. *wipes tears*
