Shun and Mio are just so cute. Eri is such a mood. Its been a while since I read the manga, but I believe that Shun is older than Mio, more like collage age than High School. When we first met Mio he is 17 and I think they met pretty close to his mothers passing. I like how the story feels pretty real, like Shun having misgivings drawing Mio in the lifestyle of loving a man and all the issues that could come with it. He felt that it would just be better if Mio just liked girls. Shun just gently tried to push him away rather than reject him. Shun has lots of insecurities about his sexuality, while Mio is confident in what and who he wants to be with. The Umibe no Etranger manga has one volume, with four chapters. There is a sequel that covers their trip and time with Shun's family, called Harukaze no Etranger and it is currently on going with five volumes (20 chapters). The animation and art just gives you the feeling of soft summer breeze and I love it.

YES! This animation was so soft -- definitely like summer in atmosphere; I likened it a lot to DouKyuusei, which felt like a gentle spring with its watercolor animation. Sooooo pretty! That makes sense with their ages! And Eri, the fangirling MOOD! :D I agree that Mio is very confident in who he is and looks back fondly on that support his mother gave him, whereas Shun keeps looking back in the past and everyone looking down upon his sexuality -- they're both clinging somewhat to a past, but the past has opposite effects on them. I really liked the wholesome genuineness of this; it was so sweet! :3 Hopefully, they do a sequel film on Harukaze no Etranger! That would be great!
