This won't be everyone's cup of tea (Rating MA), but I was enamored throughout this film -- Domeki deserves ALL the love, and this left me really craving the second installment already!

From what I understand there is a Journalist who specializes in the Yakuza, is a fan of the manga, so one would assume that the Yakuza content is pretty on point. Three movies plus ova. The OVA is about Kuga and Kageyama. The other two movies will cover more of the main content - yakuza plot and Yashiro/Doumeki.. The Manga is currently running with 7 volumes to date. As a manga reader I knew about the shooting but did not expect they'd end there and apparently the Japanese audiences were surprised too. I was surprised at how much of the mature content was included in the movie. It been a while since I read the manga, but if I am remembering correct as we get deep into the Yazuka plot line the mature content is less of a focus, while still maintaining the development of the Yashiro/Doumeki relationship. I am tempted to reread the manga and catch up on the latest chapters as well. I am interested to see what was left out of the first movie and to compare how much of the manga was actually covered. Although the main production company is Grizzly, there are a lot of MAPPA personal involved. The reason for this is that Blue Lynx is a subsidiary of MPPA that plans to focus on Boys Life/Boys Love movies. Fun facts: Blue Lynx = BL; I believe that Lynx comes from Ash Lynx from Banana Fish since it was a MAPPA production too.

Oooh, thank you for the information on this! While I DEFINITELY want to see the OVA on Kuga and Kageyama...I neeeeed to know what happens between Yashiro and Doumeki! That cliffhanger! I seriously felt for Doumeki in this film! Dude realizing his feelings for Yashiro was just insane...and the relationships slowly developing between all of these characters! That makes total sense with the Blue Lynx/MAPPA involvement -- man, they've been on fire in 2020, right? Depending on how long we have to wait on the movie, catching up with the manga might have to happen.

And for MAPPA they are currently VERY busy with JJK and AOT. I think the prouction for the OVA (to be released Msrch 2021) was completed before they started working on AOT & JJK. I also have not heard any news for new Blue Lynx movie releases, just the DVD/Blu Ray releases for what came out this year. Both the Given and the Ertranger DVD release in early 2021 (in Japan). Yes, the slow development of Yashiro's and Doumeki's relationship is interesting and slow. Neither want to admit their feelings.
