NEW REACTION LINK: https://share.vidyard.com/watch/R97BnzwX3KsxF9VMvob5y6?

Man, after all that insanity, it was nice to get a little breather....even if it was just an episode!

Ash and Eiji bond....over pumpkins of all things! Ash proves why he's terrifying once again, and the last five minutes of this episode! Woof....setting up some crazy things to come, aren't we? Now, Max...quit being so foreboding, will ya?

Thanks for watching the full length reaction!

I love the moments between Ash and Eiji. Eiji is Ash's safe place, the place he can he himself and lower his walls. The Ash/Eiji banter is the best part. Ash is definitely BIG brain and he can be very scary. That last scene was Ash's declaration of war to Arthur. This episode brings the tension down and then it slowly brings it back up.

this is such a low key episode but by gosh I adore it! Banana Fish is many things and it shines with its breakneck pace, but for me I love the quiet moments, I guess because they are soo few and far between that you have to treasure them in the moment before everything goes back to non stop plot. Now I’m not too sure why the anime decided to do this as I think it’s a real shame but after Ash asks Eiji to ‘stay with him, not forever but at least for now’ and the scene ends with their embrace on the bed, Eiji actually replies in the manga “Forever”. I do think it’s implied anyway and you can tell that’s what Eiji is thinking but I do wish there was verbal confirmation here. Ash doesn’t believe in forever but Eiji basically says ‘fuck that’ and will give forever to him anyway. It’s something I thought you’d appreciate to know. Also the gun scene, what I really like is the detail that Ash wants a weapon that’s not automatic. Fly tells him that he could kill more enemies with one but Ash says “and I won’t be able to stop”. It’s a nice detail that Ash would rather FEEL each of his bullets and kills and very much still has conscience and I guess doesn’t want to go TOO far. It’s cool also that as soon as he said Eiji picked up on it too.

Ash's BIG BRAIN is TERRIFYING! Yeah, Ash "officially" declaring war on Arthur was such a mood shift, and brought us back to the Banana Fish we have come to expect, right?! Mannn, Eiji is literally the ONLY one who could tease Ash about pumpkins. I just LOVED their interactions, and yeah...Max is right. Eiji is Ash's only real weakness at this point. Everyone else he's truly, deeply connected to (aside from Max) has been killed except Eiji. It's sooo tragic, because you see these two be SO happy together...and know that there's still a mafia after them....ahhhh....Banana Fish! *shakes fist*

RIGHT?! This episode felt so different -- and then you realize it's the first time you get to catch your breath through this whole thing!! Ooooooh, wow, that DOES add a little to Eiji's character -- I wish they'd kept that, too! Thank you for telling me, that! Yeah, at this point, I'm not convinced Eiji will leave Ash...he's too involved with him, now. Also, WOW, that is a good note to make, too! I didn't realize that, but man...back at the mansion, when he killed Abraham, that weapon was automatic and he just kept shooting until there were no bullets left. @___@ That makes a lot of sense why he would want to keep things where he can tell each shot he makes...it shows he's not totally gone, and I'm glad Eiji picks that up as well. This show, I TELL YA! @w@
