I wasn't ready. I WAS NOT READY. There are no words. Only tears. T_T

well ... I can officially say welcome to banana fish. You thought this show was wild before hand. I did think that you were particularly urmm .. let’s say chipper going into this episode which is just perfect as your reaction really was soo authentic and real and I really felt for you during that awful scene. Every time you mentioned that Shorter was your favorurite I audibly winced each time. Soo one final time. One last obligatory POOR SHORTER is most definitely needed. (Also poor Ash and Eiji like jeeez they need a break) Just in case you were not aware but there is actually a short manga story called Angel Eyes that gives context to Shorter looking at the angel and kinda snapping out of it to talk to Ash. Not sure if you would like to react to it on camera but it most definitely worth checking out regardless! Even though is fucking brutal I do love the symbolism of what banana fish does to a person. It’s a drug that puts the victim into a bottomless pit of hell, despair and absolute FEAR. And not only that, it makes the victim perform acts against their will and basically takes away their ‘freedom’. It’s the story demonstrating what trauma does to a person but also what violence and stripping someone’s will and freedom does too. Reminds you of a certain theme running through? ...for instance what a victim of sexual assault goes though, just like Ash and how he seeks his ‘freedom’ back. It’s beautifully tragic storytelling. Also I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet but I absolutely adore the voice acting in this show. Everyone does such an amazing job but Ash’s VA whom if I’m not mistaken is still new to voice acting is an absolutely amazing VA and he brings such depth to Ash and he breaks my heart every time 😔

Pretty much all of us when we watched this episode for the first time. Shorter is everyone's fav until this episode happens. Its a tough one, in the end it was a mercy killing since Shorter was never coming back from the Banana Fish. Ash had to make a choice and in the end he choose Eiji. Poor Eiji to have to go through everything he has, the emotional toll of watching Ash have to make that choice and then having Shorter fall on him and die. I have not read the manga, but I believe there is a side story with Ash & Shorter. I believe Shorter called Ash his angel. There are two side stories "Angel Eyes" and "Garden of Light". Now go hug your dog, you need it.

This episode was SO HARD because of that hard choice!! There was actually someone last Sunday recommend Angel Eyes, so I went ahead and read it! I'd already recorded Episode 10 at the time, so I'm going to talk about it with Episode 11. It was recommended to read Garden of Light after the show is over, so I'll probably react to it after I'm done with the series.

Mannn...I DID feel okay going into this episode, so it was a gut punch throughout this! I haven't had a reaction to an anime episode like that in a while....
