It was difficult to watch your reaction through the tears that were cascading down my face 😂 Tanaka’s arc always kills me and that mountain scene with him climbing always stood out to me when I first read and it was soo beautifully crafted here! Personally I loved how they edited this together instead of following the manga page by page. In a moving visual medium instead of a chapter by chapter, week by week format it works much better with where they put the flashbacks. Starting it off with the flashback sets the tone for the episode and for an audience to see that yes this is going to be a tanaka centric one. I get that it kinda sucks they don’t flash to Miyagi (yet) but I do understand. It kinda breaks a flow of a game if we keep dipping out of the stadium and you wanna keep the atmosphere of it all. I always interpreted that when she says “I really did have my heart broken” she is talking about how Tanaka just does not see her that way. Remember when even before her cousin showed up Tanaka turned her down saying that my heart is with somebody else. She says that Tanaka has always been ‘honest’ meaning that he never lies. So when he says there’s somebody else then that is completely true and she doesn’t stand a chance. So when she’s watching that match and really seeing how straightforward and honest he is it just emphasis her point... hence her heart being broken.

Ahhh, I think knowing what was going to happen kept me from crying this episode (now, I say that, but when we get to the MSBY match and the end of Kamomedai, check me then, haha!), but my heart was SO FULL when he hit that cut shot! Ahhh, the whole climax of that mountain scene was soooo good, and I can't wait until we come back to it with Kageyama later this season. I'm usually a stickler for things staying with the manga beat for beat, but I was fine with how they put this episode together -- I'm still bummed they've left Aoba Johsai out, because I fear they'll be leaving the other schools out too (Shiratorizawa and Date Tech) -- I get it for the pacing of the episode, but some of those interactions were so awesome in the manga. I agree, though, it DOES break the flow of the episode. So I get it. Just me being a stickler. :P And that's a great interpretation! Yessss, that does tie back to him telling her his heart belongs to someone else, and that makes so much sense that she realizes he was serious and that she may have not had a chance with him from the start. I appreciate your clarification on that! I can totally get that! ^^ Thanks for the comment! I'm so glad Haikyuu!! is back after that last episode with the pacing/animation off -- I still enjoyed it, but this episode was classic Haikyuu!! :)

The Kita part will probably have my heart swollen and gushing when it happens, but 365?! I don't usually get emotional and cry with anime...but even re-reading those chapters now, I start to get misty-eyed, so when THAT happens...I don't think I'll be able to hold back. T_T
