Get in line....Haiji is already taken. LOL. Yes he is quite manipulative when it comes to motivating his team, but it works and he does not do in it in a mean way. He seems very good at reading people to push the right buttons to in order to achieve his goal. But he does care about his team. The Hakone Ekiden is only for collage teams, since Kakeru is just starting his first year at University he would not have been eligible to run the race until he entered University. That is why Haiji only has 4 yrs to get a chance to run it, after he graduates he will not be able too. As Kakeru said each member of the team needs to achieve a qualifying time of 16:30 minutes for the 5 km or 30 minutes for the 10 km before the team as a whole can even participate in the qualifying race. The Hakone Ekiden is a relay race made up of 10 legs of approximately 20 km each. They have to do this as a team. I fell in love with this anime the first time I watched it and just like Haikyuu I never tire of watching it. I knew you'd like it since you love Haikyuu. And it only gets better the more we delve in to the characters more. Just like Haikyuu character development is not limited to the MC. Looking forward to your future reactions.

Ahhh, let's all share Haiji! XD Wow, seeing the numbers there makes it seem tough enough, but then the knowledge that this is essentially Haiji's ONLY chance to run this race....ahhh...*nervous laughter* I seriously cannot wait to see how this team comes together and to get to know them all individually! I definitely get that Haikyuu!! vibe in the character development, but oddly enough, I feel we're already getting to know the characters on a much more individual level than Haikyuu...if that's even possible! Thank you for the comment! I'm so happy to dive into this show!

Oh Kakeru... he is most definitely filled with soo much angst but genuinely for a good reason that the show does a very realistic job of exploring. I remember I was worried when I watched the first episode for the first time that he was going to be a typical trope but RWTW does such a good job characters right from the get go that my initial worries fell away. Hakone is exclusively a college event so Kakeru hasn’t participated in it but is hyper aware of the level that a whole team needs to be. He knows that he can run it but doesn’t believe that anyone else in this team can. I can tell the subs you are watching are different and it’s been not too bad but there’s one thing that is different(I watched the show on Crunchyroll) . When they leave the bath house and the team is doing their ‘what is your deal?’ And they say to Kakeru “Run with us.” Kakeru respond with “I don’t work well with others”. It’s a statement that definitely carries into his backstory so I thought you’d like to know. Can’t wait for you to see more of this angsty boy’s journey. And Haiji. Oh man the feels are already starting to effect me already! There’s soo much to his character that this show deserves multiple viewing to see the subtleties within him. I always love that scene in the grocery store for some reason. You can tell the community around him genuinely adores him and wishes him well but makes you wonder why he has shared this personal dream of his soo openly ... something to think about. And finally the team has started running! Prince ever involving tshirts designs is one of my favourite gags in this show 😄 Yuki’s “I don’t exist for your purpose” I feel is definitely there for the audience who believe Haiji to be selfish for manipulating this group of people to further his dream. But I honestly believe that even with only 3 episodes of characterization Haiji would let it go if one of the really was adamant that they weren’t going to do it. It’s soo difficult to not gush about this show! Really glad you are enjoying the journey!

Ahhh, that translation difference makes a LOT of difference! Thank you for letting me know about that! ^^ And ahhh, I can tell Kakeru and Haiji are going to have me feeling ALL the things -- I'm soooo hyped to not only get more on Haiji, but to go back and re-watch to notice all the subtle things. That is awesome that repeat viewings are a must. :D And Prince's shirts!! I love the "WHY" shirt soooo much; I can't wait to see what they do with him! I can't wait to gush with you all about this show -- I know it's going to happen!
