This was an interesting discussion – really looking forward to this series now! I have definitely seen something of Unico but I have no idea which one or whether it was more than one. Have only one (but quite vivid) memory of a scene and I will comment when it comes about. 😂 Also, that was a really lovely thing of your grandfather to do. Cheers to awesome grandpas. 🥰 Looking forward to next week! 💙

Ahhhh, I'm very intrigued over which scene you're talking about, but if it's with the movies, that could be a good number of them! I'm excited!! The films were definitely a treat to watch and talk about! Thank you so much for commenting!! And yes, my grandfather was a really lovely man for the time I knew him! :3

Oh Unico! I saw the 2 movies when they were on Amazon. I loved it! I saw these just a few years ago so I wasn’t a kid. When I was a kid, I actually watched a live action Tezuka property called Space Giants! https://youtu.be/pg2-ZKvMrIQ?si=zory6E2wXl7evVdY It was later adapted to anime being called Ambassador Magma. Again it took on environmental issues. https://youtu.be/buUzsNymuOM?si=dw-z6suAo4p3cSlr I believe they are both on YouTube. I would love to get my hands on this series and it may be possible since they are reprinting a lot of Tezuka’s stuff in English. When you were naming out the anime that most of the viewers may be familiar with, I was like, I was in college then! 😅 My first anime was a show called Prince Planet. Oh, I loved that show! https://youtu.be/9QDlkj302tA?si=3ejvJTYwhL60OyWr And of course I watched Ultraman! https://youtu.be/y6NN91yno3g?si=MoDF9dTf5G_itaoG Along with Speed Racer! I actually really enjoyed the Movie that the Wachowskis sisters made. I’d argue that is the best “live action “ of an anime out there! If you haven’t seen it, it’s highly recommended! Well, that was a little jaunt down memory lane! I did download that ebook and I’m eager to read it! I’m looking forward to the deep dives and I will do my homework and watch the OVA’s if I can find them! Can’t wait for Sunday now!

That’s so cool about the Tezuka works you’ve seen! I haven’t heard of those, but thank you for the links and it’s interesting to know that Tezuka was really big on the environmental issues with his works! It reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki with his movies as well. And ahhh, yeah, I definitely am a late 80’s/90’s kid! I love how anime is in “waves” per generations! I’ve heard of Ultraman! And I did watch Speed Racer growing up, too! And YES! A lot of people don’t like the Wachowski movie, but I honestly think it captures the spirit of the animated series well! And YES, I would agree it’s honestly one of the best “live action” adaptations I’ve seen, too! :3 The ebook being in color is so pretty and definitely nostalgic! Thank you for the the kind words and comment! I’m excited for Sundays in June!
