This episode....well. On the one hand, there is SO MUCH good in this episode -- the visuals, the symbolism, the build -- there's so much I want to rave about....  

...and then we get our "payoff." Our moment of a deus ex machina coming to finally meet Shin. And what do we get as our reward for the last 22 episodes? Well...it's the penultimate episode and we need to talk about that, don't we?

Frederica: "You're such a boy." Romania: "NO, HE'S A MORON!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Im glad you watched this with different subs than the Crunchyroll ones. Its only little things but when Lena talks to Shin about her motivation to keep fighting, the english CR subs keep using "they" instead of saying that "he"/Shin was the one that told her to survive and meet again one day. It makes less sense when they tease Shin about it in the post credit scene. They also didnt translate what Lena was saying over the para raid in the previous episode, when she attacked the Morpho and told Shin or the "unidentified unit" to fall back. Edit: I felt the same about them all surviving once again in what seems like a hopeless situation. But to be fair, we saw Raiden turn away from the Morpho right before Kiri shot, trying to get away like Shin told him to. So apparently he didnt get hit directly but was blown away by the impact or whatever? Also, after I read the LN (only up to where the anime ends) and then watched EP12 again, I feel a bit different about their miraculous survival back then, but that's all Im gonna say in case you wanna read the LN at some point. There is still a lot of plot armor in this second part, im not trying to deny that.

Tbf, we’re seeing it from Shin’s perspective. He very much thinks they’re all dead because of his state of mind. You can see it when he ‘hears’ their voices when he’s going against Kiri in episode 21, just like he did with Lena when he was losing it back in episode 16/17. But in actuality, they were trying to communicate with him the entire time but he just didn’t hear. Just like back in episode 9.
